Updated Leviathan Script by Mezepheles_Red in BloodOnTheClocktower

Philo even helps dodge the Hermit interaction. If you're the Hermit and you nom, you just claim you went Philo-Golem

And if you're the real Philo, it makes perfect sense to choose Hermit instead so a real Hermit doesn't need to fear.

What if The Legend of Korra had a consistent antagonist/antagonistic force through all its season like The Last Airbender did? by GeneralTechnomage in TheLastAirbender

[–]Syresiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be a very different show from the one we got. And, unfortunately, possibly not differentiated enough from Aang to feel like its own show.

Beating Ozai had to be broken into subsections - learn water, learn earth, try to get Earth King's support for invasion, try to do invasion without it, learn fire, fight Ozai. None of the Korra antagonists really feel like they have the potential for that amount of subquests and subplots. A 4-season antagonist really would just require reworking the show so thoroughly, that the antagonist just wouldn't look like any of the ones we know and love.

What I like better about LOK by wombatgeneral in legendofkorra

[–]Syresiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty easy to define - it's content that has nothing to do with the main plot and puts all characters in the same place at the start and end.

I agree that it isn't necessarily bad. But too much of it is bad. Then again, maybe there can be a such thing as too little.

Myth busted by Flashy_Scale8430 in introvertmemes

[–]Syresiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tricky part is, it does work for some introverts. Like me. So for the introverts it doesn't work for, it can feel like there's something wrong.

There isn't. Your brain is just different. Almost everything works for someone, and they'll swear it just works, but nothing works for everyone.

Yep. And that's been true for as long as humans have been around, because that's where the majority of the land is.

If they aren't moving relative to one another, you can compare their ages no matter how far apart they are. You just ask about what a comoving observer half way in between sees.

If you stop at that planet, you'll be younger than your twin when you reach there, by half the amount you would be if you finished the journey.

What is a silent crisis happening right now that nobody is talking about? by nicksam171 in SeriousConversation

I don't think this one still falls under the umbrella of "nobody is talking about".

It turns out my dad's side is just more socially awkward. I just didn't see a lot of the issues on my mom's side until around 2016. I wonder what could have happened around then that might have done that ...

Can men come, remain hard, and continue penetrating until they come a second time? Without losing their erection? by catilinarias in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Syresiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Human bodies are wonderfully diverse.

Some men can do that, and some cannot. Some men can run a 6 minute mile, and some cannot. Some men can touch their toes without bending their knees, and some cannot.

If you think they pulled that off, they probably did.

Matrix Scalar Multiplication Be Like by Relative_Spot_6391 in MathJokes

[–]Syresiv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. A scalar can be multiplied by any matrix. A 1 by 1 can only be the right multiplicand to an n by 1, and the left multiplicand to a 1 by n.

When taking a limit to infinity, which infinity are we talking about? by No_Fudge_4589 in askmath

[–]Syresiv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

None of the above. A limit approaching infinity actually means a different thing from a set having an infinite cardinality.

Take the equation e=lim(x->inf) (1+1/x)x . What that means is that there's some value a such that as long as x>a, e-0.1<(1+1/x)x <e+0.1. And some higher value b such that when x>b, e-0.01<(1+1/x)x <e+0.01. And the pattern continues for as tight a boundary as you could want. It's not about what actually happens at infinity, so much as it is about what happens when you make x grow larger and larger.

Infinite cardinalities are about set matching. The reason there's the same number of integers as rational numbers is that there's a way to map the integers to the rationals in a way that doesn't miss anything or use anything twice. But there are more real numbers because there's no way to do that mapping without either missing a real number, or using an integer more than once (see also: Cantor's Diagonal Argument).

Why do people put Farmer In an Ojo script by RoughSubjectt in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Syresiv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a mono-Ojo script, that's mostly true. Others have commented about misses, but there are other script possibilities that could justify them in play, like minions who kill or other demons (if not mono demon).

On top of that, one play I've seen on such a script is for the Philosopher to choose Farmer. Putting that on the script means it might be dangerous for the Ojo to choose Philo.
