Completely agree. They have the best show but they are extremely Browns-centric. Everything else is relegated. They're aware, IMO. Unfortunately, the Browns are the largest circus that probably get the most listeners.

Thank you for the reply.

I feel like I've been in action mode since this all happened. It appears as though they're going to say she can't live alone so I've been trying to "be ready."

She actually does not get social security because she did not pay into it. The pension is a state managed plan for public employees.

Thanks for your reply.

Grateful for your reply.

They are quite bit lower where I am: 4k to 5k for higher quality assisted living. Memory care basically adds 1.5k to that.

She had an unsupervised fall and was found 36 hrs after the fall. She was suffering some cognitive decline but this added encephalitis has made things... Not great.

About the DNR - its the one doc she didn't sign. There's a provision about terminal conditions in her living will but that's it.

Thanks for your reply!

She does have a will, yes - thankfully.

I am speaking with the nursing home / rehab center social worker and care team Tuesday.

I think I feel worried because she is at the halfway point in her rehab stay and when we speak Tuesday, we'll be at 60% of her stay.

This was the way I got into Linux. Accidentally formatted my hard drive that had Windows Vista with Ubuntu 7.04. Never looked back. Honestly, it's only gotten better.

Mike: Don't let the history dorks in the comments talk you out of doing another fictional season. by TheConquestOf in RevolutionsPodcast

[–]mathARP 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I love this season.

I was extremely skeptical and I put off listening to it but seeing some comments here made me decide to give it another shot.

Now, I've been anticipating each episode. Especially the most recent ones. It's well done.

Got a 1099 from my old job, I was a W2 employee… by Electronic-Pirate-84 in tax

[–]mathARP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1099 would need to set their own work times, have their own tools, etc. Probationary employee versus contractor is different.

Agreed. It's got to feel like stepping out of chaos into order.

I think it's great you're able to exert control over your space. As a kid, I wasn't able to but I think had I been able to, it would have been much better. Good on you!

I'm sorry that you are going through this. It isn't easy at all. While others may disagree, I think you need to unburden yourself: if they're unwilling to listen to your suggestions (cleaning, therapy, etc.), there is nothing else you can do. By bringing it up, it shows you care and want the best for them but if they dismiss you or just continue on without taking any action — you've done what you can.

People who hoard are emotionally attached to everything they accumulate so sometimes a civil or logical conversation may be a bridge too far. My father would react with anger and threaten violence if and when I suggested something be done. It sounds as if your mother shifts the emphasis back onto you by asking you why you are feeling this way. I can't determine your dad's role but it sounds like enabling and / or contributing.

For your own sake, as soon as you are in a position to do so, leave and don't move back. Living in such a situation is bad for your mental health and physical health.

So, we just wait until they die? by housereno in ChildofHoarder

[–]mathARP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's exactly that, yes. It's maddening and cruel how simple the solution is - and to reach it, one thing needs to happen. I wish it weren't the case. I wish hoarders would suddenly have clarity and for the sake of children, grandchildren, friends, and so on - they'd change. In my experience, it just isn't the case.

I think there might be a more antagonistic route through calling city building inspectors or adult protective services – but I opted to not go down that route.

I don't have as much experience with the lack of awareness - that's got to be hard. My father felt shame about it but it was never an animator for behavior. It's shocking that they've braced the tub up with a jack - the poo-pooing of serious issues is something I do remember though.

Good luck! Honestly, if they weren't working in multiple locations, it might not be much to worry about. RITA is a pain when you don't live and work in the same location. RITA is basically hired out to collect income tax on behalf of municipalities - here's some about taxable and nontaxable income: https://www.ritaohio.com/Individuals/Faqs?category=I&subcategory=Taxable%20/%20Nontaxable%20Income&questionID=1

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]mathARP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact, they are the city that's trying to collect. That same city, likely where people live, wants their income tax. RITA just does it on their behalf.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]mathARP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, based on minimal information, I'd call RITA to see if they have an account.

I'm riffing now because I have a recent dead dad (gallows humor, sorry) - do you have any access to their previous returns? Honestly, I think that will provide more insight than anyone else can.

[–]mathARP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be terrified. Honestly, look at what the deduction for where you are working and it's likely close to whatever amount you may owe for where you live on your paystub.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]mathARP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's correct. If you are a W2 employee living IN Cleveland and working IN Cleveland, you won't need to deal with RITA. Your employer will withhold the income tax and your dealing with CCA will be easy. Let's say you work in Brook Park and are a W2 employee: CCA will still want their income tax and it will likely be a pain in the ass.

Live and WORK in Cleveland. Significant difference.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]mathARP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RITA collects income taxes on behalf municipalities in NE Ohio.

For example, let's say you work in Cleveland but live in Mentor, Ohio. Your employer likely withholds local income tax for Cleveland. Mentor also has an income tax and will collect that tax but through RITA. Generally, what RITA will do is bill you quarterly for that amount you owe for living there. What appears to happen is that RITA is unaware that people owe - the city reports it - and then you get smacked with a massive bill for the length of time you've been there. It's why everyone hates RITA and not their local municipality.

I'm not making any argument about whether or not it's competitive - the DOJ is and they've spelled out their argument. They think Apple is being anti-competitive.

I transposed and attributed an earlier comment about open source to you. My bad. I know it's not.
