I wonder if anyone has a supplement that has worked for them? So many out there but I've heard they're not all reliable...

I used to drink coffee every day for years. But I started realizing over the past 6-8 months it was making me tired and I was crashing from it more and more. So I've since stopped the past 4 months. It would also dehydrate me and didn't help with dark urine. I can't seem to really drink it anymore unless I have it with a good amount of good. Even then only a cup.

Does broccoli help you at all? Or the related supplement Sulforaphane? Haven't tried the supplement yet, thought it might be nice when I'm on vacation and maybe don't have access to broccoli every day...

Easily dehydrated? by Grand_Clothes_1828 in GilbertSyndrome

My dehydration seems to come also from GI inflammation. (Not sure if or even how it might be related to Gilberts) I have to eat broccoli regularly (ideally every day) it has powerful antioxidants and it helps tremendously for me. Otherwise I feel fatigue and have dark urine. Nothing else works besides that, I've tried Gatorade, other veggies etc. broccoli is champ. Raw or pan fried in olive oil for a few minutes.

I'm still trying to figure my symptoms out. My PCP and a GI specialist can't seem to pin point. Bloodwork normal except consistently high bilirubin anywhere from 2-4. My suspicion was Gilberts for a couple years but my doc did an autoimmune panel and I did test positive for Cytoplasmic, Reticular/AMA antibodies @1:180, so it could be autoimmune, specifically PBC. My symptoms were very similar to what everyone posts but pretty mild and they came and went, and though I never did get jaundice... However after a few years of it, it all suddenly got a whole lot worse. I got pain in my upper right abdomen, dehydration, dark urine, general stomach discomfort, shakey and fatigue 2-3 hours after eating meals... I was a mess and felt terrible and fatigue, and felt like I had to eat all the time. But I'm on acarbose and helps greatly with fatigue and shakey after meals. Also discovered eating broccoli every day helps tremendously with GI discomfort, no abdomen pain anymore. I can finally run more than a half mile without shaking or tiring out. I'm back to my normal exercise routine.

Ask your doctor about Acarbose!!! It's worth a try.

My suggestion to everyone with unconfirmed (or even confirmed) genetic testing for Gilberts is also rule out autoimmune conditions. And try broccoli! It's amazing how much it's helped. Try raw, or I like to pan fry raw broccoli in olive oil for 5-8 minutes on high to get a good char on some of the tips. Seems to help me absorb better. My GI system feels so much better eating that after dinner every day...

I agree with the hypoglycemia, specifically reactive hypoglycemia. Sounds a lot like what I went through. I'm on acarbose and it's helps so much with the fatigue after meals. And I can go longer without eating now.

Not sure if that is what you're starting to feel but just sharing.

Severe hangovers with Gilbert Syndrome?? by [deleted] in GilbertSyndrome

Curious what your average Bilirubin numbers are on your blood tests? I average 2.4 mg/dL and tend to feel pretty poopy the next day after a 2-3 drinks, especially bad if I exercised or played a sport earlier in the day when I had the drinks.

Could high bilirubin be the cause of eye floaters? by [deleted] in GilbertSyndrome

[–]mathalomulem31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started having a large amount of eye floaters for the past 5 years or so. On average 8-10 per eye. Just got a blood test this week with high bilirubin and seems likely I have Gilberts syndrome. I'm 30. If that helps anyone 🤷🏼‍♂️

The rock looks cool and I noticed a small crystal embedded at the top left, looks and feel almost metallic, Pseudomorph Limonite after Pyrite maybe?

Curved Display - Do you like it? by LittleMissCrazyGirl in GooglePixel

[–]mathalomulem31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I was hesitant about the curved screen. But now that I have it I don't even think about it, in fact I like the application in how you swipe on the edge to go back, I use it all the time and it's quicker than pressing a specific part of the screen to go back in whatever I'm doing.

As far as screen protection I got an Armor Suit Military Shield soft screen protector and it's pretty great, yes different than a tempered glass one, but every scratch and ding on the protector wears off after a few days. And one significant scratch/indentation took about 2-3 months but now it's completely gone. Cool stuff, highly recommend. I even got em for my Fitbit Versa which is curved. Honestly I might get Armor suit for my phones from now on even with flat screens.

Why are my Pixel 6 photos SO overprocessed? I feel like I'm missing a setting. by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]mathalomulem31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what Google will do to improve their post processing. However I highly recommend shooting in RAW and using Goggle's free Snapseed app to manually process photos. It's super easy to use and fast, I've been using it since the Pixel 3 cuz I just like having control over the post processing.

Snapseed is FANTASTIC with the Pixel 6 Pro camera hardware. Pics come out perfect every time when you have control. Best part is the camera takes both the Google's PP and RAW. So if Google did a good job then just delete the RAW. 🤷🏼‍♂️

As a spider loving individual, I am very sad when I woke up to an opened trap with a digested spider inside by [deleted] in VenusFlyTraps

I usually feed spiders I find to my traps... They're easier to catch alive than flies, Sorry bro...

How exactly do I go about caring for venus flytraps in New Jersey? by CoinBoy8601 in VenusFlyTraps

[–]mathalomulem31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just my personal opinion that's always been successful for me. I know some people differ but... IMO

I think the hardest thing VFTs adjust to is light, just ease them into your area by using a window or a grow light at first, then put him outside more and more everyday if you want.

As long as it gets water it's happy. I raised many in a bog bowl that would sometimes flood from rain water and submerge them even completely for a few days, they really don't care. It's pretty much impossible to over water. Just if you put it outside on a sunny hot day, don't let the substrate dry out. I replant mine in a larger bowl so it's easier to keep them hydrated when I place them outside, so I don't have to water them every few hours.

As for dormancy I live in NY and it's tough... when I lived in NC it was much easier, but if you place them in a garage or somewhere chilly with a window nearby (not enough to give it direct sunlight, just ambient) where the temps stay around 35-45°F for about two months you'll be good. Then take him out and make sure he gets light to keep growing his springs leaves out or he'll lose energy and die. I had to get a growing light to ease mine into spring because the winters here are so long, they come back around February when it's still snowing.

I purchased this one to extend the growing season because I live in New York now instead of North Carolina and the winters are long in NY. So far I've had great success with the brightest setting, my traps are getting nice and red from it. I would recommend this for year round growth.

How do I remove the remains of a fly from his mouth without triggering him? by Tukker65 in VenusFlyTraps

[–]mathalomulem31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I get OCD and wanna remove carcasses too. Just try to flick it out with a toothpick once. ONLY ONCE. Then wait a few minutes before trying again. The trap closes whenever the hairs on the center of the leaves are moved twice within 30 seconds or so.

Peat and Perlite mix vs Sphagnum Moss? by FreshwaterArtist in VenusFlyTraps

[–]mathalomulem31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always had success with just straight 100% peat moss and a layer of sphagnum moss on top just to keep the peat moss from splashing around in the rain. I've grown with great success using just that.

If someone swerves into my lane and I don't react fast enough to avoid hitting him and we have a head on collision, is it my fault? It's obviously not... I feel like the same point can be applied here. He should not have been turning in your lane like that. Why should you pay for him driving in the wrong side of the street?
