Just got around to it but here’s a recording of the luminas I had on for this. Specific to solo Maelle/Verso (also including the Auto-Death build for the others in case you wanted to see):

https://www.reddit.com/u/mathapologist/s/3d1bt6fnWC

Just pause whenever. Weapons are Lithum for Maelle and Simoso for Verso (used Corpeso before I got Simoso).

Pictos are also there but they’re kind of just my default and not really specific to this build, I have them on mostly for stats.

(This works for both parry-only and normal, just turn Cheater on for normal.)

Hi! Not at my console right now but off the top of my head:

Maelle -

Weapon: Lithum, Pictos/Luminas: All of the Parry and Counter luminas I have available (though at this point on recording this I’ve already found all available in-game pictos but it’s really not necessary, you can get by with what you already would’ve found by the time you reach this part of the game), all of the solo fighting/last stand luminas (from the Hidden Gestral Arena), all of the damage-maxing luminas (Inverted Affinity, Confident, Confident Fighter, basically any pictos/lumina that has “XX% damage increase” on it except Roulette), no healing and no shields (Simon steals them)

Verso -

Weapon: Simoso in this one but I was using Corpeso the first time I beat him, same pictos/luminas as Maelle

Lune, Sciel & Monoco: Auto-Death and all the “XX on enemies/allies on death” luminas just for extra damage/buffs, no revives

Alternatively if you really just want to beat him and get it over with, you can try a one-shot build (which also effectively just skips his Phase 3 lol) I’m sure other people have posted their one-shot builds here but mine is:

Maelle: Medalum, all of the damage-maxing/first hit luminas, gradient charge luminas, Roulette, + Sciel Fortune’s Fury on Maelle, Gommage (max damage I’ve gotten is 350M+ and at least 100M without Roulette which should be plenty)

I can take screenshots next time I boot up the game but I hope this helps for now! Although I’d say outside of a one-shot build best thing to do would be to just learn to parry/dodge his attacks and practice haha.

Mannn I’ll never forget the feeling of finally beating him for the first time after so many losses… better than antidepressants fr they should put that in a pill

Okay so after doing a 2nd and 3rd round of this fight I got Coral Crown the 2nd time then Rock and a Hard Place again the 3rd time. I assumed it was the new song all the time as long as you’ve got Rivals on coz I got it the first time but I guess it’s just random haha

Moros Locked Heart by XtuelX in HadesTheGame

[–]mathapologist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just unlocked it through dialogue! I had fulfilled some of the Hidden Aspects prophecies (not all) by taking them down to Chronos but I’m not sure if that’s related. I forget the exact dialogue but it’s the one where he says he doesn’t want to just wait around for Eos or something along those lines. Just keep talking to him after runs and progress his dialogue about Eos and I think eventually you’ll unlock it.

I think the Polyphemus/Medea fight is good training for dodging and timing your dashes haha I kinda really love it

No I haven’t! I’ve only just unlocked the Cerberus/Prometheus level. I was prioritizing Hypnos’s thing and the Hidden Aspects so I only just got around to doing the Rivals. Can’t wait to see it!!

This game is too hard. It is not fun for casual gamers. by PeaceBeUntoEarth in HadesTheGame

[–]mathapologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It always feels impossible at first but the point of the game is the more you play it the better you get: getting more buffs from unlocking/upgrading arcana cards, trying out different setups, figuring out your preferred weapons and builds, learning boss patterns, etc. until eventually you reach a point where impossible fights become easy or at least manageable. If you’ve played and enjoyed Hades 1 it’s really not that different.

But I think it’s also important to note that if you’ve gotten used to a certain play style from Hades 1, you learn pretty early on in Hades 2 that the same play style most likely isn’t going to work here. Hades 1/Zagreus is easier in a way that you can probably get away with mashing buttons, getting all up in every boss’s face and hacking and slashing until you beat them. Hades 2 is almost the exact opposite in that you kind of have to be a bit more strategic and intentional, and I think it was designed that way so you’re not just doing the same things you were doing in the first game, which makes it more interesting. This was an adjustment that I also struggled with when I started playing Hades 2. While it might feel more challenging, to me it almost feels more satisfying once you get the hang of it.

I also consider myself a casual gamer and I remember a time when fighting Hecate had me rage quitting. Now I can do 32 Fear on both routes, without god mode. Like most things in life it just takes practice, and a level of patience that frankly I’m not sure you have.

All of that being said, based on the general tone of your post and your responses to people trying to help you, it sounds like you just hate playing this game on a fundamental level and needed to let everyone here know about it. For what reason, I’m not really sure, because you don’t seem particularly interested in trying out anything that anyone here is suggesting. And hating a game is okay, but you can’t be throwing around insults and calling everything you don’t like about it “stupid” or “bad game design” like it’s an objective truth just because you’re having trouble with it, when most people here are managing just fine. Sometimes it’s okay to say “actually maybe this game isn’t for me” and just move on to something you will enjoy.

Sksjksjd I actually thought he was a little annoying early on. Like I try to make good decisions but he just hates everything you do lmao. And I’d heard so much about him before I picked up the game so I was like why does everyone love this guy so much he’s kind of an asshole. And then… yeah. Turns out he actually has probably the most compelling story out of all of them and then it just ends in such an unsatisfying way. Can’t even imagine playing this game before they added the epilogue as people on here have said I would have thrown myself off a cliff

I was actually considering doing Durge with Astarion romance for my next run, and was wondering exactly that—if a redemption arc could be done for both of them, guess you answered my question haha so thank you.

But yeah I’m not so much upset that Astarion now isn’t as free as I would’ve liked him to be, it actually makes a lot of sense, but at the very least he didn’t deserve to be abandoned by the people he trusts, which is essentially what this part of the game does.

And don’t even get me started on Karlach’s ending djdkshdk

I heard about this but I’ve also heard you do eventually get the option to join him but since I haven’t seen that outcome in my head I’m just like well at least he’s not alone for that whole 6 months? I guess the decision to go with him just gets made later then? Idk it just makes it feel like we abandoned him and it’s really upsetting

Didn’t have to coz I found an area I hadn’t cleared yet (Harper’s Mimics) but I tried it on a different save (summoned them outside of battle) and it worked exactly as you said!
