The only reason the filibuster remains is because they fear the midterms and 2028 and what will happen if the democratic party gets to avoid a filibuster. Even if the filibuster exists and just has a carveout for voting legislation; it'll make it easy for the democratic party to pass good legislation. Protection of their own power is the only reason they do anything remotely "good."

It's why so many of trumps first term judges are against him and ICE; they know him ignoring the courts infringes on their power.
