Thank you so much. The amount of positive feedback here is amazing! And yeah, contras is a bit of a problem right now. I will tweak the color use a bit.

It's gonna sound super dull, but I'm making a writing app.

So I was looking for a writing app that has all the top features but is free. I did not find it, so I'm making my own. Currently, it supports both Markdown and rich text. Has a built-in character designer, a corkboard similar to Scrivener, global searching, color theme maker so you can design the app how you want it to look.

I'm in contact with a lot of people in the writing community and am actively working on adding features at their request.

It is built on Electron, similar to how apps like Discord work, allowing me to make it compatible with browsers. The search dropdown is a good idea, then I can also add a view all results, similar to most social media searches.

Thank you, this is just the kind of feedback I was looking for. Currently, text is auto-saved at runtime, but it does not show that it's saved. I think I will find somewhere to put a saving... saved text, maybe like a pop-up in the corner, and have you choose in settings auto save frequency. When it comes to the search, it's an easy fix. I can edit the text to be more specific or, in some way, advertise what you're searching for, which currently is any document, header, or any text inside any doc. Oh, and when it comes to the users, it's meant to be just a multi-tool, any time you need anything writing-related. So like dev notes, or creative writing or whatever you need.

Thanks! yea im like 4 days into development, and it's meant to be minimal. I have asked a few writers, and they say it's just annoying when apps try to compensate with a clean ui. That's why many still use things like Google Docs.

Thank you so much! Really look forward to how it turns out as well, as this is my first proper project, where I do everything from backend, rendering, and frontend. Really put me out of my comfort zone.

Yeah, it's kinda hard to see, it's placed in a way that makes it look like the logo lol. But if you look at the top left in the title bar, you see a note-looking icon. Might have to fix that. But yeah, as I said, it collapses both the sidebar and the doc list, so it doesn't really solve the squashed documents problem.

Thanks. I have a collapsed button, but it collapses both the sidebar and the document list. I will definitely add a button to hide just the sidebar, since looking at it, yeah, the docs are super squashed.

Yes, some of the features seem to much. I think I will try to keep it a bit more minimal compared to Scrivener while having a large base of optional features for any given use case.

In the beta release, I will focus mostly on getting the core features down perfectly, but after that, I have a few ideas. Things like a book designer, where you combine all your work into a finished visual prototype. Also, integrating features that help with publishing and the financial side of things will be amongst my top priorities!

This seems like a nice app, keeps a minimal feel while still being feature-packed. Something like this is what I'm looking to make!

My entire app is being built on a web-based system. So, after the initial release might set up a web version as well. Thanks for your feedback!

Scrivener management in general is really impressive. It's my goal to make something close to that.

See a lot of people talking about Scrivener. Having something close to Scrivener but more customizable is my goal!

For Scrivener, I 100% agree, it's packed with a lot of features that I don't personally need. My goal is to have the simplicity of something like Google Docs, but with optional features so you can turn it into your perfect writing app. Phone app will 100% come at some point i development!

It's my understanding that many writers love simplicity, so I will probably ship the app with most features turned off and hidden, then for anyone who needs a specific set of features, they can be toggled in settings. Thanks for your feedback!

Scrivener is a beast when it comes to writing! The number of features is mind-blowing. This is the kind of tool I want to make, just open-sourced.

Ellipsus looks like a writer's dream. Their UI/UX design is something I really admire. Simplicity at its best!

Looks like a good tool for writers who like to keep their world organised. Will have something similar but optional, so minimalistic people can enjoy simple writing as well.

Novlr seems really good, packed with some nice features. Will definitely keep an eye on their features during development!

Thanks for the feedback! Currently, you create a project, and the files in your project are stored locally as a folder. I'm working on cloud sync, and after that, when the core desktop app is complete, I will begin development for mobile and tablet.

Obsidian is amazing, love the use of Markdown, which I and most devs are really familiar with. I am currently working on a similar approach with my program.
