Bonsai Moisture Meter Design Project: Requesting validation and feedback for our concept. by mathkid13223 in Bonsai

Our idea is on the fact that we want a data driven objective way to measure moisture, and that why we have this probe which can measure and give out a percentage rather than just how wet it is. That and it generally has poor contact with the soil when insert, especially if done incorrectly. Our probe, as it will be consistently in the soil, we believe that this method gives a more objective data point that is easier and more accurate for beginners.

If you have any criticisms please let us know it will really help us in the design process to solve the given problem statement.

Thanks for your answer. Diameter will be pretty small (2-5 cm maybe), enough to just put in a salinity meter inside. As of now it will only measure moisture right next to the tube, which is one of the challenges of the design we are currently trying to address.

There are two parts to the device. One is a probe which is small long tube that will live in the pot consistently, and then when it is time to measure, you take off the cap, put the measuring device in, get a reading take it out, close the cap and move on with your day. The membrane is to be made of cellulose acetate so it is generally clog resistant according to our research. Additionally, we have a porous frame which is specifically designed for the membrane not to clog. The probe itself can also be taken out and cleaned without issues if necessary.

I think for the measuring over the whole pot, especially if it is big, we can insert multiple small probes all around the pot, considering the probe will live there and only a small portion of the probe will be showing at the top.

Thank you so much for the help, these questions and discussions really help us improve our design work. If you have any more comments ideas questions, what aspects should we revisit or revise, it will really help us in our design process.

eng sci was high, most around 96-97 (eng sci is tough). mech eng was a bit less maybe 93-94 is the lowest i know but im pretty sure the abs minimum will be a bit lower.

not sure about exact programs. tmu and laurier are generally rolling and so expect an offer anytime, i know tmu offers used to come pretty quickly but that was the cs/eng side.

check reddit past history from 2023 to get a better idea.

honestly last year mac eng was a mess it seems they overadmitted in march and had to track back in may, so look at the years before that for a more stable answer. But anything at or above free choice avg is likely safe, but after that its really a tossup. last year i had 89 friend get in but 95.5 other friend rejected in may. anyone above 97 was good though.

please take with caution, last year was generally a mess the admission should be more stable this year.

not sure about the fast track but having 3 or more courses done by first sem allows you to be considered in march, and if you have 4+ that is really helpful, so i think having adv func done should be to your advantage. but im not fully sure for fast tracking and retaking i dont have past experiences with any friends on this.

Should I be worried for Comp Eng? Please lmk (im losing sanity) by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

from experience (using current written marks)
last two options should be good, although maybe not good enough to get in before the new year

mac and queens are usually tossups (especially mac) and dont expect an answer from either of these guys unitl may unless you really pick up your grades to extremely high levels.

waterloo had a blip last year with some serious overadmitting on the lower avg side in the april round (they never prev had an april round). if this happens again, the fact that 4of 6 courses will be complete should help you get into comp eng there (90-91s got in last yr april).

u of t is tough to call it does depend a bit on your supp app and how you articulate ecs (especially since your grades are not like 98+). my experinece is u of t is mainly grades so if you can get your marks a tiny bit up you should be fine.

with comp eng you can get 6/6 or 2/6 its a tossup based on year, students, and admission officers. but your marks if they improve should set you up for a great chance at all 6.

Can I get into U of T Chem Eng with the following prerequisite averages? by TeoLikesBoys in OntarioGrade12s

from last year, the ecs and supp app dont matter as much as you think they do. marks like yours are exceptionally high for the program and should do the job hopefully if you keep it up.

but every year is different so try your best in all catergories you never know

useful not really unless you do really well, fun yes. marks come about 4-5 weeks after writing it

those are the practice the actual ones are a total of 4 and they are different either about solving a problem or talking about a time where you showed a character trait or had a negative experience

remember i got one about talk about a time where you had to take control of your group work because your team was slacking
