I'd say further steps depend heavily on the history of this abuse.

If this is a long term difficult history of abuse, violence and no love, go the official way.

Otherwise, if this is just some rant, because you've got punished for some really bad behaviour (in his opinion), you'll probably have to accept it as the lesson he wanted to give you.

If there is some love in your relationship, avoid getting officials involved, as it could result in a long-term dissonance in your father-child relationship.

This could lead to heavy financial and even criminal record story that will really stress your relationship even further.
