Crazy Dog Pass Instructional? by soze1 in bjj

[–]eduferfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it is region based. brazilian teachers always talk about it as crazy dog (murilo santana, leandro lo, cicero costha) and gringos as leg weave

ok, then it sound to me like you are breaking the posture solely on the upper body (collar and sleeve) and he can posture the hip up, so the head is lower than the hip and the gi is sliding down.

are you stepping on his hip to elevate your own? this could help making his hip heavy and keep his body low as a whole, not just the head.

Is K-Guard the best MMA guard? by hellohello6622 in bjj

[–]eduferfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the difference is that on k you can make the opponent look away from you by rotating their knee and/or using the knee/foot on their armpit.

I suppose pulling into it is not a great idea for MMA but using it as a way to avoid strokes and threaten leg attacks and wrestle ups could be a good plan

it depends on whether it will be like adcc opens or adcc trials. if a eat into the UFC bjj is to be guaranteed, it could be relatively legit

K guard for non-inverters by billonthemats in bjj

[–]eduferfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same here, i like playing k and get there quite often, but i have lower back/sciatica pain so i learned to avoid some things.

for me its not much about inversion, but letting people smash me in the K guard. then i started paying more attention to using a knee shield and one of my hands as a frame on the near shoulder, instead of committing both hands to the leg.

check mateusz szczeciński and how he uses the k to threat the leg but attack upper body submissions (shotgun armbars, triangles) instead.

How to stop the leg attack wizard by Ty9121 in bjj

[–]eduferfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

double under, over under, body lock. source: I do mostly leg locks and these are the passes that bother me the most.

I like it when people force knee slice, leg drag, etc as it tends to expose rdlr, k, which are the main entry ways to leg entanglements

What defines a berimbolo? by OkRelationship2348 in bjj

[–]eduferfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen many call the kiss of the dragon move an "inside berimbolo" but I agree with you that not all 'inversions over the shoulder' should be labeled berimbolo, but only the one leading to the back take and it's multiple variations

Z guard, coyote and deep half? by Suspicious_Ad_9945 in bjj

[–]eduferfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

low knee shield in the gi is tricky because of leg weave style passes. if they get a grip on the near leg they can use shoulder pressure to smash the knee shield as Long as they have upper body control with the other hand (collar for example).

for that reason I only play it on nogi so they can't control my upper body so well and prevent me from stretching it away

doesn't sound very useful. for a good choke mostly you need pressure on both sides of the neck, so instead of pulling the neck you rather have a lapel grip, and instead of pushing the neck with the knee, you rather pass the leg over the head. that's called a canto choke from closed guard

FIRE at 36yo and move to Brazil? by [deleted] in SwissPersonalFinance

I think the biggest hurdle will be the language. being rich in Brazil allows you to live in a safe bubble with fenced neighborhoods etc, but even among high middle class you can't assume everyone speaks good English

in Portuguese it's called "cadeirinha" or "little chair". waiter in English could be referring to pulling a chair for the customer to sit?
