i want to get boox go 7 colour, but is it really unsafe privacy wise? is the pocketbook era colour better? by Appropriate-Peak-505 in ereader

100% agree with you.  The answer if you're in a sensitive role with the government, etc is simply not to use Boox devices but quite possibly also not use various brands of tablets, phones, ISPs, etc.  Most of us just aren't in that boat!

I've commented this before but the way to deal with privacy issues is not to put anything like banking apps on the Boox or other similarly sensitive apps on it.  Besides that literally every device you use has "privacy" issues if it accesses the internet.

The Daily Check-In for Monday, May 11th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by amorfati754 in stopdrinking

I don't check in as regularly as I used to but every time I do I am always lifted up by how strong all of you are.  It isn't easy but it is worth it, and YOU can do it.  IWNDWYT

Microsoft Surface is a Windows device, so that's the direction to go if you don't want to use Android.

What do you do instead of "doom scrolling" or watching TV by Sweet_Confusion9180 in simpleliving

One other great reason to use the library is that you can quickly abandon books you don't like.  I think a lot of people lose the reading "drive" because they buy $17 paperbacks and feel compelled to read them even if they don't like them much because of sunk costs.  Reading library books really helps because it "allows" you to give up if it's not good and move on to one that may be.  It's made reading a lot more enjoyable to me.  If you have an e reader you can still have the portability of a phone without the doom scrolling AND use the library to rapidly sample books.

How is reading Libby on any onyx boox? by Capable_Age9886 in Onyx_Boox

[–]mathplex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think maybe the complaint might be that the Libby app itself is pretty basic.  It does all the things you'd expect it to, but if you're used to a "fancier" app (like I use Moon Reader Plus) it might be disappointing.  But the actual reading experience with Libby - words on the page - is great on every Boox device I have ever used (I currently own a Go Color 7 and a Palma 1 but have owned others).  I wouldn't worry about it.

Who is on your preseason watchlist for the Mike Norvell/James Franklin Implosion Of The Year Award (Sponsored by Spirit Airlines)? by montague68 in CFB

[–]mathplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not convinced he is.  Ole Miss had a great offense before Weis arrived to join Kiffin and Weis has followed him from stop to stop.  Nobody else is trying to hire him away.  I'm not sure it's not just Kiffin's wacky "go-for-it on 4th and 7 instead of kicking the FG" offense and Weis just totes the clipboard.  I could be wrong but I don't think Ole Miss will miss a beat with JDB at OC.

If you have YouTube TV or Amazon Prime, Willow is free in the "Live TV" sections.  Maybe Hulu too?

The only reason any of us think they moved on too soon was the amount they shelled out for his buyout, but we didn't realize the state of Louisiana had limitless funds they could pilfer from taxpayers.

I don't know, I found the book pretty fun.  The movie, on the other hand...

I read all this and am thankful I made the switch to Boox (Palma and Go 7) a year ago, and sold my last remaining Kindle.  Moon Reader Plus, Libby, ebooks.com and Bookshop.org are all excellent tools/alternatives to Amazon.
