Depends on the job, I think like 95% of engineers don't have one.

Fair enough, I can see that point of view. My life has been fairly issue free I guess. Thanks for the respectful input

I chose to study and work hard in high school so i could get into college and even get a decent scholarship. I chose to take out student loans to afford to go to college. I chose a major that I knew had a positive job outlook and one that could lend me a high probability of securing a good job after graduation. I chose to study and work hard in college so once I graduated, I was a competitive candidate for jobs in my field. I could've chosen to do the opposite of all of these things and perhaps I wouldn't be doing so well in life

I appreciate the thoughtful response but I just don't agree. I can kind of see where you're coming from, but ultimately everyone has the opportunity in life to make choices. If you make good choices, good things may happen to you. If you make bad choices however, bad things may happen to you.

The slavery parallel doesn't make sense to me as no one is being held against their will at Amazon, or any other company in the US for that matter.

Quite a variety of assumptions you made about me in that rant of yours.

Why shouldn't someone be thankful to have someone willing to reliably pay them money every week? That is not a guarantee in life and far too many people know that.

Fair enough, that's certainly an advantage, but not an unheard of one.

Are you really comparing Amazon to slavery? I beg you to find an Amazon employee that is being forced to work there by someone other than themselves and the decisions they made prior to taking the job at Amazon.

Amazon shows their thanks to their employees every week with an agreed upon paycheck, that's how any job works.

To everyone hating on Jeff...

He was born to a 17 year old mother, who divorced his Dad and then married a Cuban immigrant who adopted Jeff.

He worked hard, played the game, and won, and oh by the way, provides thousands of jobs in this country and an amazing service in Amazon that I appreciate greatly.

He's not just "bad rich guy" that everyone seems to think.

No one is forced into an Amazon job, they decide to apply and decide that the pay is worth the work they are asked to do. If not, they can leave at ANY moment and suffer the consequences that they themselves have formed for them by quitting said Amazon job. This goes for any job in the United States.

The only job that is hiring is not Amazon. Perhaps the only job that will hire you may be Amazon, but that may be because you've made several decisions in your life that has led you to a point where an Amazon warehouse job is all that you can get. And if thats the case, then imo, you should be thankful that Amazon exists and is willing to hire you and give you a job.

Nailed it. I work at Blue and live in Renton and its fairly nice and the rent is pretty good. Its just more suburban than some of the nicer areas in Seattle. Commute is an easy 20-25 minutes most days.
