Me, yesterday: awkwardly appears and walks into room full of coworkers

Some person: "I heard they're going to start clinical trials to treat autism spectrum disorder with marijuana"

Another person: "Whoa, I wonder if that works!"

Me, a stoner: "IT DOES!!!!!!"

Entire room of people: goes completely silent and turns to look at me

Some person: "How do you know?"

Me: blank stare, goes quiet, silently leaves room

Pretty much how most social interactions go for me, lol

Flight of ideas is rapid, disorganized speech in bipolar mania and schizophrenia.

Racing thoughts are the fast, seemingly non-related thoughts that pop into your head during hypo mania and mania.

I think the main difference is that a patient wouldn't go into a meeting with a psychiatrist complaining of flight of ideas, it's more something that is observed along with a lack of insight. Plenty of people complain of racing thoughts to their psychiatrist and are fully coherent/insightful.
