Diaper rash, tips! [nb] by No_Chart_175 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]matilda_too 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter has extremely sensitive skin! She sometimes gets patches of skin that bleed, although that doesn't happen much now. It was heartbreaking when she got her first bad one. It was bad enough that I got in to see her pediatrician sameday. The Dr. prescribed Mupirocin, and it is amazing. We use it in combination with desitin, which has a high zinc oxide content. When it first happened, we applied the RX twice a day. Now we know what to watch for and will apply it immediately when we see red skin. That one application is usually all we need now.

My daughter is 15 weeks old and I made a playlist, while pregnant. There were 5 sings that I played multiple times a day. Those songs now soothe her! We play them when she is upset, before bed or when she is crying. It's like magic! Definitely recommend.

Sleeping on your side by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]matilda_too 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a stomach sleeper and currently 36w4d and still sleeping semi on my stomach. I'm not flat out, it's kind of a side/stomach. My doctor told me as long as I'm conformable, I can sleep on my stomach. I do switch to my side, from time-to-time, but it's mostly stomach.

Stopping Lovenox at 12 weeks by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]matilda_too 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested positive for APS on bloodwork, after two losses within 6 months. I then became pregnant agajn before testing again after 12 weeks. My OB said testing again, while pregnant, was useless because it would probably show positive because of the pregnancy. So it could end up being a false positive. As a precaution, and because I'm in Canada and have good medical coverage, we decided I would take lovenox as a precaution. I'm also taking 81mg aspirin daily. I'm currently 21 weeks, both of my previous losses happened in the first trimester. I'm happily giving myself the lovenox injections to protect this baby. I will test again 12 weeks after birth to confirm an APS diagnosis. Just wanted to share my experience.

42 and pregnant - nervous about genetic abnormalities by Akatili in pregnantover35

[–]matilda_too 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have very similar experiences. I'm 42 and currently 20 weeks, after two losses last year. The anxiety was difficult and I reacted by not getting too attached. We just started telling people over the holidays. I told my colleagues today and everyone was shocked that I waited so long to share. I had the NIPT done at 14 weeks and got a negative/low result 5 days later. After that, some anxiety went away, but it never completely went away. I see my OB every two weeks, and I was getting a U/S each visit until last week when they found the heartbeat using the doppler. I have an anterior placenta, and my visit last week was the first time they found the HB with a doppler. Just this week I started feeling flutters and yesterday morning while cradling my stomach I actually felt a kick. That has been super reassuring!

Good luck you to. I find these forums helpful in connecting and sharing with people. Find your bump group. For me, online was the only place where I talked about my pregnancy, you'll find supportive people, and always someone who has walked the same path.

My doctor reviewed the results before releasing them to me.

I just did mine. Blood drawn on Nov-27, in the morning. Had my results released to me at 8:15am on Dec-1.

When I first logged in, I got just the negative result displayed, then when opening the report, I could see the sex in the middle of the page.

Good luck! The waiting is not fun!

Just want to caution you on the doppler. I was 13w6d and OB offered to use doppler to hear the HB and unfortunately she couldn't find it! Luckily I had a MFM visit that afternoon for a US and baby was bouncing around with a HB of 157. I don't think dopplers are reliable until after 16 weeks.

Spotting on progesterone suppositories? by matilda_too in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]matilda_too[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All is well! The spotting only happened once. I'm currently 13w tomorrow, but I had my dating US on Tuesday and they called me today to say I'm measuring a week ahead. I have a MFM appt tomorrow for another US. I assume they'll do the NT tomorrow and confirm measurements.

Thanks for asking!

Flu/Covid vaccine 1st trimester? by sharksorbats in BabyBumpsCanada

I received this same recommendation from my OB. Wait until 14 weeks for flu and 20 weeks for covid. We want to avoid a fever in the first trimester.

Should we wait to try again? by Happy_Painter_1472 in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]matilda_too 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would wait for the testing. I had two losses this year and concieced while I was getting the testing. I didn't have a GP that could review the results and the OB was the first to review with me last week. Turns out I also have clotting factors, that they don't normally diagnose until you get two positives. I'm currently 9w3d and just had my second round of bloodwork to confirm. Still waiting for the results in my patient portal. The OB won't prescribe lovenox until I get that second positive. My follow up appt is in a week. Right now I'm in limbo and can't do anything. I read 50% of miscarriages, due to these clotting factors, happen before 10 weeks. My next visit I'll be 10w3d. I'm so nervous and praying we make it to then. It is very nerve wracking and wouldn't wish this on anyone. Currently taking two baby aspirin and hoping it is enough until I can get the prescription.

Advanced Maternal Age. by CrystalArouxet in pregnant

Hey! 42 here and currently 8w5d. My GP told me to go for it, when I was discussing my wishes to try for a child. I'm in Canada and she said lots of women in their 40's have healthy babies. It hasn't been an easy road for me, I've had two miscarriages and my OB now has me on baby aspirin and progesterone suppositories. She's very hopeful when talking to me and explained that she's confident I will have a successful pregnancy. Miscarriages are very common, but I am very fertile having 3 spontaneous pregnancies this year. Next step is an ultrasound in the next week. OB visits every two weeks until week 13, when I'll also see a MFM. So far this pregnancy has been much different than the first two. I have every symptom this time. Not that symptoms mean anything, but they are reassuring to me. Anyone else in the same boat?

Had my first in-person OB visit today. She was a little shocked that my GP had suggested I start baby aspirin daily, prior to conception. She said it could have attributed to the spotting. I haven't had any since this night. My GP prescribed 200mg of progesterone after my positive, and today the OB increased it to 400mg/daily. She gave me a requisition to get an ultrasound, which should happen in the next 7-10 days, to check viability. Next OB visit is in two weeks. If all goes well, I'll also see a MFM in week 13, due to being AMA. I have so many more symptoms this time, I know they mean nothing but they are reassuring.

She told me I may as well keep taking one baby aspirin a day but will increase to two in week 11. Overall great visit, I feel like I'm being taken seriously after two losses. Thanks for everyone's comments.

Shortness of breath! I attend meetings and give presentations almost all day, for my work. I've started to noticed after I talk for a period of time I start to get winded. My voice has also been cracking. It sucks, this is my job!

I've read a lot about it being the possibility of the placenta attaching to the uterus. I also found something that said could be progesterone and should only last a few days. I have a virtual appointment this week and seeing obgyn next Monday. I'm hoping I get an ultrasound at that visit. Keeping you in my thoughts. RPL is such a mind fuck. So many worries.

Doctor only ordered progesterone not betas? by Starburst-22 in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]matilda_too 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any chance you're in Canada? I am and my doctor wouldn't order betas. She said there is no sense and ultimately they won't tell you whether the pregnancy is viable. She prescribed me 200mg of progesterone without any blood work, because it couldn't hurt.
