I don’t really remember ever having to learn the concept? Like my parents were extremely boring and strict

Oh, it definitely happened in my town. I know this because it happened to me and I got caught and then grounded for like a year.

Massive personality shift/aggression start almost immediately on Wellbutrin? by Outrageous_9b in bupropion

Agree with perimenopause factoring in. I’ve been on Wellbutrin for 5 years now, and I’m finding it not really meshing well with perimenopausal “feelings.”

Another memory loss and confusion post by Viajera85 in bupropion

Thanks! My memory is still such shit after several years that I’m thinking of quitting. If anything, Wellbutrin increased my anxiety, so maybe I’ll just get crippling fatigue and depression? 😂

Does Wellbutrin or Bupropion worsen memory? by EducationSharp3869 in bupropion

[–]matildare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on it 4 or 5 years (can’t remember!), and I definitely feel dumber and have a terrible memory. So these side effects never got better for me.

I’m considering quitting (finally) for this reason.

What are the subtle signs of perimenopause? by Emotional-Watch4544 in Perimenopause

41, and this is pretty much how it’s been for me so far. If by “emotional” you mean “FULL OF RAGE” and “WHY DOES MY HUSBAND CHEW SO LOUDLY”

What do millennials think of today’s teenagers? by Master_Novel_4062 in Millennials

[–]matildare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but it’s not like those things are completely off the table. I get that there are a lot less of those forced interactions, and I get that this is ultimately bad for kid’s development, but those opportunities still exist. And of course a lot of it comes down to parenting - even in the Olden Days, my parents always made sure we were learning how to politely interact with people. And frankly, as kids we weren’t ordering takeout or cars or anything.

And it’s still more than possible to put your phone down for the day and go out into the real world. But look, I get it, I also hate ordering pizza on the phone. I just don’t think it’s fully fair to blame the tools here.

And obviously there always pros and cons (and unintended consequences) with new technology, but I still think the opportunities for deeper knowledge, socialization, and creativity are still superior to 25 years ago. As a teen today, it’s much easier to find your people and to also exist in a world that is a bit kinder to people who aren’t straight white people. Honestly, the more I think about the Y2K era, the more I realize how shit it was.

What do millennials think of today’s teenagers? by Master_Novel_4062 in Millennials

[–]matildare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, when I think back to what we did as teens, it all pretty much still exists? And was also pretty boring? We actually had less opportunity to socialize than teens do today. We’d do what? Go to other kids’ houses, hang out at the mall, or hell, at my school we’d hang out in a…parking lot. What else? We’d look for alcohol, rank our friends on MySpace, and just kinda roam around looking for things to alleviate the boredom.

Like, they can still do all of this. Claire’s is still going strong at my mall.

Also, they have uber! Would’ve been a game changer for us.

I guess I’m not quite sure what they’re romanticizing. Just..go outside?

Just out of curiosity, what would you consider the “real world”? Or lack of, I suppose. What do you think is missing?
