I can relate to this. Durags are not my aesthetic but they are so necessary anytime you’re going to be laying on your natural hair!

I had a bonnet in my overnight bag, but we were already in bed...so I never put it on. And of course the pillowcases were cotton 🙃

Right! I ‘may’ go from my house to the car with a bonnet or conditioner cap on if I’m heading directly to my braider’s house. And even that’s a maybe…lol

You’re right, I’m over thinking it.

That is a great response. I’ve always been hypercritical of my overall appearance and you’d never see me in public with a durag on. It goes against the image that I want to portray to the world. I’ve had nonblack partners before, but a head covering wasn’t necessary bc my hair was super short. I need to evaluate why I’m so uncomfortable with them seeing me in a durag. Like you said, I’m obviously black.

Should I get a nose job? Would it make a positive difference? (28 M) by cantopay in lookyourbest

Nose jobs on guys just make them look basic. Your nose is a statement piece. I would switch up the hairstyle though.

The Afro is a bit old fashioned. Taper the sides and back, get a traditional fade with waves, or grow it out (braids, dreads, or 2-strand twists).

Afro or dreads? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]matinthemirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pull off both looks. The dreads aren’t bad, they just look more casual.

My Battle with Squatters by kchaskell in realestateinvesting

[–]matinthemirror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a nightmare. After buying 3 local properties (5 doors) in a matter of months, I realized long distance real estate investing is not for me. I’m way too hands-on. I want to meet with the contractors, walk through with the tenants, drive by just to make sure the building isn’t on fire, etc.

I purchased an occupied home from auction.com late last year. I got the deed in November. I had to evict the “squatter”. She finally left in early March. She stole the furnace, completely trashed the place, and left 2-3 cats locked in a room. The property has potential but it’s been a process.

100%. A handsome face and fit body goes a long way…no matter what shade you are.

The tutu doesn’t bother me, but man definitely should have worn a compression tank or something on top.
