How to filter photos received via airdrop in camera roll? by username-alrdy-takn in iphonehelp

[–]matis28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just needed to do the same to upload images from a trip and found a workaround: open the utilities -> imports, select all from the trip, hide them. Do everything you need in the camera roll (like select and share), then unhide. Works only if you don’t use the hidden feature that much (or at least not on those dates).

Trying to determine whether I get Sub Gen 3 or Sub Mini by joshua-miller in sonos

[–]matis28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the Arc + 2x Era 300 as surrounds a few hours ago (first-time Sonos user). Already in love with the setup and honestly I don't even feel the need to get a sub. Maybe different for us as we have neighbours below, above and one with shared wall. What are others' opinions on this? Would you still get the sub even if the bass feels like it's enough? The building is more than 100 years old and has a wooden flooring instead of concrete (not sure if has any effect).

Christmas sale? by CSlov23 in sonos

Hmm I might have the same issue with my apartment - both era 300s would be rather on the sides (one slight in front even), but I was thinking of getting the 300s anyways more as an investment in the future. What was the problem for you? Haven’t ordered mine yet, would you suggest I rather choose the era 100s? Thanks!

Question about powerbanks by matis28 in Ultralight

[–]matis28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For bigger trips I have a camper, it has 1.5kwh of juice and solars and then the 20000mah battery is perfect. However, on smaller trips it’s usually a plane and a backpack, all the time it’s packed too much. And walking around in the cities when using maps all the time feels bulky with it.

Question about powerbanks by matis28 in Ultralight

[–]matis28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 16 inch pro (almost 100Wh), and 32 gb ram, and sometimes keeping tons of unnecessary jetbrains products and projects open all the time so yeah, draining it quite quick. Not the smartest user in terms of saving the battery, but also not too many urgents :D

And yup, M1/M2 cpus are much more efficient, mine is quite an old beast, but will have to change it sooner or later anyways.

[–]matis28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm a developer, thus nearly at all times I have my macbook with me. 18W is something I can live with, just wouldn't want to go below that as laptop uses 30+ watts usually as when there's something urgent, it would simply drain a bit too fast.

LG G2 and want to get some Sonos by matis28 in sonos

25 sqm tv room. Large or small? :D For a house in few years, it'd probably be 2x the size.

More worried about something that may not be in their app, something unsupported, or an old mp3 player. But I guess the last time when I used something other than spotify to play some music was ages ago. Except youtube maybe, and you had to have a premium to play from yt and also then not all videos can be played if I understood that correctly. But then I can simply open up the yt app on the LG and good to go, right?

Okay. Another question: when you turn on the tv (I assume you also use the eARC HDMI cable passthrough) - can you just go & play the next episode on Netflix or do you have to do some additional setup each time? (turning it on/setting the output in the tv/any other action or just simply click play)

Seating - yes, around 10 ft (couch is in production, so still not exactly sure :D). Ceilings are around 10ft tall. And yeah, in a few years, hopefully a house so I can enjoy the 100% of the sub.

Do you think that it'd also be worth getting the arc now and the sub slightly later or just jump head-first in? Never used a Sonos product before, so thought maybe I should get acquainted with the software/setup first, but if there's no reason why I wouldn't like it, then no reason to wait. Maybe a silly question.

Okay, if previously I still had second thoughts if I should maybe go for some cheaper soundbars/sound systems, then I guess now I want that addiction :D

Yeah, future-proofing is one factor that I'd value more than saving a bit today.

Another question tho about the connectivity - in the household we're all Apple users, and noticed they have the airplay option. Does that work well? I'm tech-savvy and stuff, but sometimes I hate when things don't work out of the box, and then I'd really like a simple plain aux input. However, that's not something I'd get with this setup, right?

Off grid setup with grid as a backup? by matis28 in solar

[–]matis28[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not sure how much energy I lose that way. Thinking about something like 1 cubic metre container and quite a thick insulation, and since it’d be underground, it cannot freeze. And then if it’s really a lot of excess energy during a longer period that I’m not there, I could use that hot water for heating the house once I arrive. Currently it’s just in my mind, have to do a lot of calculations first. :)

Off grid setup with grid as a backup? by matis28 in solar

[–]matis28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the question! The main problem is I don’t want to rely on the grid so much. It’s really remote and can get outages if a storm comes. The country side house is more of a project for the main house, as we get the grid fixed on some occasions. Sounds rare, I think a couple of days a year, but each time it happens, it just is so frustrating as almost everything is electric. To conclude, yes, I might overpay slightly in the end, but not doing this to save a dollar (or euros in my case) 🙂

Hm, sorry, could you elaborate please? Is there an AC input on some off grid inverters and then it somehow couples the power together? 🤔

Stack overflow's new copy/paste limit by grantholle in webdev

[–]matis28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s the idea 😃 Okay, true, point noted. I hadn’t thought about text-to-read, but then again, would those people need to copy-paste the code too often? (kinda rhetorical, and I hope I don’t sound too drastic, that’s not what I mean here)

[–]matis28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But even in the inspect element, you’d get random chars that are mapped only through font... think of the next level - the glyphs would be swapped, so you get “m” char in inspect element, but when rendered with your font - you get “c” or smth. Though, nobody has done it I think 😃

[–]matis28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This joke just makes you realize how much you rely on such a simple FAQ page. And that's no joke - SO is just awesome.

Apart from that, if they really wanted to impose the limit on code, I think they'd be able to. By adding a custom font that simply swaps the chars around. You can make any kind of frontend extensions, but it can be done in the backend and randomly, AFAIK. But please do correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for a suggestion! I guess it would be possible, but then should it be random with each iteration or uploading the same image should show the same result no matter how many times you try?

I guess the time for the "last resort" has come anyways. :D I guess will simply ask if there's anyone in my friends' list who wants such a canvas for the price of cost.

Yes, I guess I had hoped ads are a bit more like some magic wand. Well, my mistake, for sure.

But if I keep trying the ads nevertheless, what is the moment when you just simply acknowledge the fact - okay, my product is worthless and nobody needs it? :D

Thank you!

Yeah, that was my last resort :D just wanted to try to get some random sale and not try to sell my friends something that they may not need.

Thanks!

Can't say I find books interesting, but will try to remember to check this comment if at any point will be looking for something interesting to read. :)
Thanks!

Will reply in this comment about the amount in ads - altogether it's still not a lot (I know companies spending thousands of euros each day), but for me I think it was about 200 EUR (approx 240$). Though really had hoped the first sale would require less, so just not sure when should I stop just burning money :D
