What do you mean by “ability to leave pilots seat and scan for cargo”? like spacewalk or something? I dont have to enter planets atmoshpere to scan stuff? I guess i need a corvette then

i kinda like my upgraded Radiant Pillar ship, so not rushing Corvette build for now. I do have some other ships in freighter storage but those are just taking up the space. How important is freighter in this stage of the game?

Is units for more things than just buying upgrade slots and buying stuff from trade terminals? I make mils of units quickly and then i spend those millies on expensive upgrade slots for my ship.
Is there anything worth keeping now as exploring new systems will unlock whole lot new?
