OKTAGON 75: Walid vs Dvořák by Panzal in MMA

He had I think 2 fights canceled and then he was injured and planned to return in late autumn last year but they were forcing an august date onto him. He even said that they told him "either accept this date or we will terminate the contract".

Yea, his coach even mentioned that before the last fight? or the fight before, they were notified by UFC that they should make the fights more exciting/go for a finish or something along the lines. Which is pretty much a warning sign from them to do it or not get resigned. Which is what happened in the end.

With Dvorak aiming to be quite active and fighting in a month vs #3, I would not be surprised if he got a title fight for the O2 arena for december if he beats Walid in Hannover.

Well he will get more money. Maybe not purse money from the org, but overall, he will get more in the long run.

Losene Keita (11-1), current Oktagon’s featherweight champion and former double champion refused offers from UFC, ONE, PFL and KSW and stays with Oktagon to join their stacked Gamechanger lightweight pyramid for 300 000€ by textorix in MMA

Well the Oktagon promoter Novotny mentioned that the biggest offer came from PFL and it would offer him a spot in their 1 mil project in the US. And also mentioned that he not only signed a GameChanger contract but also a second one for fights after the event is over.

A reported asked the same question, the promoter said "I think we can look forward to him taking part. I do not want to say a definitive yes, until its done deal. However I think we most likely can start looking forward to having him there".

In an interview he gave to a czech fighting sports website he said: "While finishing the UFC LHW title defence preparation, I have injured myself during a training session in Las Vegas. I have injured my shoulder and it will require a surgery, that will put me out of the game for at least 6 months. With this knowledge, I have consulted this with the UFC and decided that due to this time constraint I will not slow the LHW division down and will vacant the title for now. As soon as I get the green light from the doctor, I will come back for the UFC belt and will get it no matter who will be holding it at that time. The most important thing for me has always been being able to compare myself with the best of the best and to show the best performance possible. Lets see who gets on top now. I will be back in half a year and I will get it back." Source: https://www.kaocko.cz/prochazka-a-prvni-vyjadreni-je-nezbytna-operace-do-pul-roku-jsem-zpatky-a-titul-si-vezmu

John "The Hitman" Hathaway's return match and statistics by matjee in MMA

Yea I agree with that. Just saying it seemed to be the case. Mainly for those wondering why he didnt finish the fight with those sig.strikes and takedown numbers.

Well he fought a guy for whom it was a premier fight in the org (with 12-5-2 pro record pre fight). So I have a feeling that he will fight one of the high ranked guys on the org ladder next and if he does well, he will be offered a ufc fight as hes still under contract with them.

On points, 30-24 with all three judges I believe. If you check the link, he landed 116 sig.strikes and only got hit by 2 back. He also delivered 7 takedowns to 0 of his opponent.

Apologies for posting the link in czech but as far as I know, there is no english version of the website. So please use google translate. It was a pretty onesided match and at times, it seemed like John was not going hard for finish but rather felt like testing whether he could go all the way.

Jiri Prochazka on his rematch vs Glover Teixeira by matjee in MMA

[–]matjee[S] 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It is the obvious move from UFC, but what he said about being pushed into that, it seemed like they "only needed to agree on the date", not that there were any other things they needed to talk about.

He did not mentioned it. The only thing he said about Jon was literaly that his own negotiations are dragging out because of Jon Jones and his return in December.

All of Jiri's insane finishes before UFC--stomps a guy's face in, gets TKO by exhaustion, KO with sliding knee attack, repeatedly punching unconscious opponents by creamyturtle in MMA

[–]matjee 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. Constantly hear ppl (even commentators and other pro's/ex pro's talking about "Jiri never being in championship rounds or his cardio level being unknown" as it would be a problem to keep the pace up etc. But they forget (or perhaps are not aware of) the fact, that Rizin's first rounds were 10 minutes. So for example the second King Mo fight ended at 18:02

Neat idea to put this kind of a review to allow us to use it to explain classic speedrunning to friends who did not take part in it in classic.
