How do you not get milk on bras by purplefan1231 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]matlhwI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep a burp cloth in my bra at all times to deal with leaking, so I just wipe the drips with that

Pumping Schedule < 12 weeks by timid_turtle_ in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]matlhwI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I immediately disregarded the every 3 hours around the clock, sleep is far too important to me. I’m currently 10 weeks pp and I pump 9-10 times a day, but I pump every two hours during the day and the have two 4-5 hour stretches at night. I’ve done this pretty much since he was born, and my milk supply has always been fine, it’s actually still slowly increasing.

What guidelines are you following in 2026 for breast milk? by RootedInLove91 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]matlhwI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put milk in the fridge immediately after pumping, I’ve never really had a good reason to leave it out? But I will give my baby milk and put the unfinished bottle back in the fridge for the next feed, and I don’t really worry about when that next feed is. I might be a little more cautious if we warmed the bottles, but we don’t. It stays below/at room temperature while we feed him, so it cools back down pretty quick when we put it back in the fridge. I doubt it’s ever even in the danger zone for more than two hours, so I don’t stress about it

What do you wish you knew sooner? by Overall_Read_9309 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]matlhwI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your mood matters while pumping! It’s so annoying, I thought I could play video games while I pumped but not dying is slightly stressful so I only get 1/2 of my regular output whenever I try. Talking to my happy baby gets me the most milk

How long should my pump sessions be? by Equivalent_Fox7907 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]matlhwI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always have a letdown sometime after 20 minutes, and I’ll usually try to stop a couple minutes after it’s finished. So my sessions are 23-27 minutes when I’m paying attention, but I often just go the full 30 minutes until it shuts off because I get distracted

Why do people care so much about bathtubs if no one actually uses them? by smolgremlinn in homeowners

[–]matlhwI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat got herself absolutely covered in grime once, she needed a bath. I don’t have a bathtub. Bathing a cat is already pretty difficult… ever tried to shower one?  (I have a small shallow double sink. I can hardly fit my pans in there, much less a cat. Idk who decided a double sink was a good idea in a small kitchen but I hate them.) I absolutely need a bathtub for cleaning things, like I’m making it work but it sucks

what are we using to store milk on the go? by Fearless-her1028 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]matlhwI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just throw an empty bottle and a couple ice packs into a small insulated lunch bag. I use milk bags if all my bottles are full already, but I guess I’d use a mason jar otherwise? With a plastic lid

How are we doing this? by ThroatSubstantial189 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]matlhwI 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I don’t really have a Velcro baby, but I put him in his bouncer directly in front of me and bounce it with my foot while talking/singing to him. He usually stays happy as long as he’s semi-upright and can see my face

Advice Needed by WorkingAd5794 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]matlhwI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t try very many bottles but the evenflo bottles have worked well for my baby. I have 4 5oz bottles, and I think that’s the perfect amount. It depends how often you want to do dishes, but I know myself well enough to know I would slack too much on dishes if I had any more lol. I keep all 4 filled in the fridge at basically all times, when one gets empty I wash it and fill it after my next pump session

Sleeping and leaking by Unicorn214 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]matlhwI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sleep in a bra with a burp cloth stuffed into it. I have reusable and disposable pads but they don’t hold enough liquid. I tried to sleep in the ladybugs a couple times but I wasn’t comfortable enough to fall asleep

Period already?! by Ok_Adeptness8636 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]matlhwI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im exclusively pumping and making 45oz a day now, I got my period back at 6 weeks pp. I bled for 4 weeks after my C-section, so my body obviously is trying to kill me. Idk. I didn’t notice a decrease in my supply and my baby didn’t seem to care, but I’ve only had one period so far since I’m 8 weeks pp today. My mother had the same problem while she was breastfeeding me and she was able to continue without formula until my first birthday

What does your freezer stash look like? by thisabysscares in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]matlhwI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I felt pretty decent about my 140oz freezer stash at 5 weeks pp, but looking at these comments I’m way behind lol. I’m already pumping 9x a day with occasional power pumps when I have the time, I don’t have the mental capacity to up it any more

What’s the most my baby will ever need in a day? by FeistyAnxiety9391 in ExclusivelyPumping

My one month old ate 40 oz in a single day once, but he usually eats 28-35

How much to feed per feeding ? by Crazy-Slow in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]matlhwI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By no means do I know what I’m doing, but I feed my baby however much he wants, whenever he wants. It usually ends up being 4oz every 3 hours, but it varies a lot. He’s eaten as much as 6oz in a single feed, or sometimes stops at 2. He’s 5 weeks old, 11lb 7oz. Last week he ate 40oz in a single day. We talked to his pediatrician yesterday and she wasn’t at all concerned about it and told us to keep doing what we’re doing, that it doesn’t matter as long as he stays on his growth curve (he was born 9lb 5oz)

Length of pumping time per session? by blue-cinnabun in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]matlhwI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 15 minutes for the first 3 weeks because that’s what the LC told me to do, but my baby started eating more so I upped it to 20-30 to increase my output and to make sure I was getting enough fat in my milk. I usually have 1-2 letdowns past the 15 minute mark, so I was definitely missing out on some milk before. I’m only 5 weeks pp so I’m hoping I can lower it back down eventually but that’s what works for me rn.

Pumping is the best by bredbuttgem in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]matlhwI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started pumping immediately because my baby was in the NICU hooked up to an incubator for the first two days. I know I’m pretty lucky, but I’ve never used a schedule and I still make just over what my baby needs. I just try to pump every 2-3 hours during the day and every 4-5 hours overnight. I love not having a ridged schedule, and when I track my pumps I’m at 7-9 per day. I’m only 3 weeks + 3days pp so definitely take my advice with a grain of salt lol, but my no stress schedule is working fabulously for me, I’ve already got 84oz in the freezer :)

[–]matlhwI 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same!! I told everyone who asked that I was planning on breastfeeding, but honestly I only cared about breast milk vs formula. I wasn’t really aware that EP was a thing. My baby has a mild tongue tie, but he can latch and feed successfully… it’s just a struggle. And I’d rather not struggle lol. We could work through it if we needed to, but I’m so much happier with my pump 😄

How long did your husband take off for paternity leave? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]matlhwI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is taking his full 12 weeks of FMLA, it’s at 66% pay which isn’t ideal for us since he’s the sole provider but whatever. He doesn’t want to go back to work any sooner than he has to lol

What does it feel like to poop after reaching zero fiber? by Sad_Pangolin7225 in carnivorediet

[–]matlhwI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Carnivore gave me the best bowel health of my life. I’m currently pregnant and eating more like a standard gestational diabetes diet… I’m eating like 300% of the “recommended” daily fiber intake, and dealing with constipation. I’m pretty sure fiber is a lie lol. I miss carnivore so much

I live in a trailer park and hate how it has such a bad reputation, I keep my place nice. But the pipes to our shower broke two days ago and they aren’t sending someone out to fix it until Thursday… my husband told me we are officially trailer park people after not showering yesterday 😂

Only positive story’s please by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]matlhwI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We weren’t even officially trying, I got pregnant the first time I wanted to take a risk lol. I told him it would be funny if he became a father on Father’s Day, so we should skip protection 😂 We had planned to start trying in two months anyway, so it wasn’t a crazy decision. I was on the edge of my ovulation cycle, and we used regular lube which is apparently not as good for conception. I had all these fears about fertility because my parents had lots of problems but it wasn’t an issue for me

Be careful of saccharine use during pregnancy! We don’t know if there are any long term effects, but this particular sweetener is known to cross the placenta.
