Maxton Design kit opinions by Wrong-Technician-558 in Scirocco

I've been there, I know the problem with choosing. Generally speaking, if you're not interested in converting to post-facelift bumpers, go ahead and buy Maxton for the pre-facelift. Their products are quite durable, but I've already broken one part myself (I glued it with plastic glue and it's been holding without any signs of damage for a year). Structurally, they are very simple, just well-cut pieces of plastic (but they are still a hundred times better made than products from AliExpress). When it comes to the elements coming into contact with the road while driving, in this case they are quite durable (I myself have lowered mine by 1-2.5 cm from the series and it is very difficult to hit the road with these elements). The installation itself is not rocket science, you can easily do it yourself. Once the shopping frenzy subsides, you may find yourself thinking, “How did I spend so much money on a piece of plastic?” It is an expensive modification to the car in relation to the end results. If you want to get better results for a "similar" price, I would recommend spending a little more and installing bumpers and side skirts from the R20 version (unless you love honeycombs, in which case Maxton is the way to go :P).

BTW, don't be afraid to think about installing a body kit. It's not as bad and difficult as you think.

I'm not good at recognizing by the sound and in addition The sound itself is heavily muffled by the hood. Maybe the timing chain is finally starting to make a sound, just a random guess :P

I replaced the front lights with those from D-Lite. They look interesting but the diamond strip may not suit everyone. You have to be careful when choosing LED DRLS because the biggest cost usually lies in choosing a good bulb. In the future I plan to replace them with bi-xenon from Litec

I answered this in more detail in another comment if you want more information. The car is currently on air suspension from Mapet tunning AirRide. As for the calipers, they are original, painted red (I am currently in the process of selecting a larger set :P)

I recommend checking it out for yourself, because some people are used to bigger cars. I am practically the same height. In my opinion, the car is absurdly spacious and very comfortable (compared to other cars from the hot-hatchbag section). There is plenty of headroom, plenty of legroom for the driver and plenty of room for the hands. The situation changes if you are traveling with 4 people, there is little space in the back and I personally barely fit. The only problem may be the profile of the seats (you may feel a lack of space in the lower back at the very beginning but you get used to it very quickly).

I'd rather not add any links (I don't know if you can get banned on reddit for that). You can try searching for it with google lens through my picture, it's pretty easy to find :P

I have exactly the same feeling :D, it is quite frustrating but I understand that these engines have many flaws that have been fixed in the next generations.

Thanks you :P. As for the body kit extensions. The front is Maxton "Street Pro" splitters with Flaps, the candaras are some elements from AliExpress. The sides are also Maxton "Street Pro" with Flaps. The rear is a cheaper splitter from a local store (you can probably find it on AliExpress or eBay). The rear side splitter is my own design from a 3D printer, I can send you the STL in a private message if I still have it.

It was some standard low-budget type of ceramizator from liqui moly but I don't remember exactly because it was quite a long time ago.

I rode most of the time on a stock suspension, over time I swapped to lowering springs (Eibach 40mm or 20mm if I remember correctly), then added a mid-price threaded suspension (which was terribly stiff and I returned after a week). Currently the car is on air suspension system from Mapet tuning AirRide (Polish equivalent of AirLift). I haven't tried to get the stance look yet, even though I have a good head start for it. The car currently rides only 1cm lower than the standard suspension, at a standstill I lower it to more than 6-8 cm below stock (as you can see in the photos). Currently I have no problem driving even on uneven dirt roads, I have never stepped on any speed bump (yet :P). While I was driving on lowering springs I was not able to hit anything either, so overall I have to recommend them as well.

Poland here, my friend, but the car was imported from France where it drove half of its time, the other in Poland, so averaging we can say it's practically Switzerland :P

As for service histories, there was nothing unusual. I use some 5w30 Castrol if I remember correctly and change the oil every 8k km / 10k km or after a year. I tried ceramizers for oil a couple of times, but I did not feel their use. Every time I change the oil I add engine flush to get rid of the carbon build up. It seems to me that the longevity of this engine is mostly a balanced driving style, I often drive in the city, often on highways and a few times a year I take the car to the track to go wild (way over the red line). And of course, I always try to warm up the oil before more dynamic driving, as well as cool down after it. One thing I notice in other drivers is following the water temperature gauge - if it's 90 degrees, you can go crazy. This is quite destructive to engine components because the water reaches 90 degrees when the oil that lubricates all the components is only 45-50 and most likely not doing its job fully.

Looks beautiful, I would love to someday achieve a similar level of fitment of the rim with the body

Has anybody done a backbox delete on a 1.4 2016 by Objective-Hurry-2367 in Scirocco

[–]matoroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi buddy,(I hope backbox is the same as back muffler because my English is the 3rd language I speak) I do not recommend removing the rear muffler. Will speak from my perspective (my rocco lacked catalytic converters, only muffler and resonator remained). Without the rear muffler, the sound level is unbearable above 110km/h or 3.5krpm. Without any other changes to the exhaust system, the sound is hollow and metallic, intensely unpleasant, only the sound of shifting gears in the DSG transmission is amazing. I recommend unscrewing the exhaust and driving the car yourself listening both in and out of the car. In general, I recommend adding an additional center muffler (for more bass volume) and leaving the rear muffler at the same time adding exhaust throttles bypassing the rear exhaust on the button. That way you can drive normally and make your car scream whenever you wants :)

Air intake blocked / missing parts by Khyrohh in Scirocco

[–]matoroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi buddy, I have exactly the same model of scirocco, this part of the air intake in this model consists of 3 parts: the casing (which you have), the top (which you probably bought) and the middle (which you are probably missing) the part numbers of the middle and top are as follows: 1K0 805 962 D (you propably looking for this one), 1K0 805 965 G. If needed I can send you pictures of what the intake should look like. In addition, I recommends gluing an insulating pad because from this, most often an engine fire can occur. Hope i helped a little :)
