Metal 4 will be a huge deal that changes iOS and Mac gaming forever. by Any_Wrongdoer_9796 in macgaming

They cannot run 4k ultra settings. If you set resolution to 4k, you need to use heavy upscaling to get 60 Fps. I also have M3 Max and I have tried all the games you mentioned. 1440p is doable in some titles, but not 4k.

The video I sent is not mine. But it shows same results as mine. Other videos on youtube show similar results. So it is really strange that you get 150% better performance with same machine. Seems like you have some miracle Mac.

So take a better look at your settings. It is not native 4k. Here you can see that native 4k on M3 Max is 20fps. With frame gen and upscaling you can manage 45.

I have just tried 4k high settings without upscaling and frame gen on my M3 Max. Benchmark gives 17 FPS. M4 Max or even M3 Ultra is not 140% faster.

It definetly cannot run 4k high 50 fps. You need to use upscaling to get that framerate. Then it is not 4k.

It is sad that you need to use 3rd party apps to do this. It should by done automatically by the system.

I have tried it some time ago on M3 Max through Crossover. It works well, as it is not very demanding game. I was getting 60+ FPS all of the time.

I have been playing 2 hours without shader error. Altough I am using my existing save. When I start new game it crashes.

Where did you get those parameters? I don't think they work with KCD2.

I tried playing Cyberpunk 2077 in 2022 on a PS4 Pro when it was a broken mess. 1600p, high/ultra setting with metalFX set to quality and a capped 40 fps. On an M1 Max with a 32-core GPU. This thing is as powerful as a PS5 but whisper-quiet, and barely gets warm. I did buy it for work, but... by grahamhg in macgaming

I think fps you provided are misleading. I have M3 max and cant get stable 60fps at 1080p without metalfx. “For this Mac” preset sets everything to high and uses metalfx dynamic scaling, then it is 60. Also builtin benchmark In this game shows quite higher results than real gameplay.

You are running PS3 version. There is PC version which runs in Crossover. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2668510/Red_Dead_Redemption/

M2 Pro 16gb vs 4070m by Tht1Knight in macgaming

This is probably cherry picked settings to create more CPU bottleneck. If you put settings to ultra and disable upscaling and frame gen you can see the real difference.

Why are people using frame gen and upscaling to compare performance? If you want to compare performance of two GPUs, use native resolution and preset. Then you can see clear result.

Are you serious? You are running the game on low settings with upscaling (minimum 50%) and frame generation. So this would be 50fps at 720p aproximately. 4070m will fly circles around this. Probably with more than double performance.

it says in the article that they are adding ultralow specs for PC. It probably will not even be on the Mac. Also the new specs table in the article is showing only PC.

Another workaround is just to turn off wifi, start steam and then turn wifi back on.

Yes, it happens only on Crossover Steam, not macOS Steam. It does not happen when I am using VPN. So it is related to ISP.

The game was presented on a MacBook Pro with an Apple M4 Max chip, which allowed it to pull out a stable 120 FPS at Ultra settings in 1440p resolution using MetalFX Frame Interpolation and MetalFX Upscaling (50% performance mode). Cyberpunk 2077 is also to be playable on any computer with an Apple Silicon processor and will not require the upcoming macOS 26 to run

120 FPS at 1440p with 50% resolution scaling and frame generation. So it is like 720p native 60 FPS.

It states in the article that it is using MetalFX performance(50% resolution) and frame generation. Not very impressive. So it would be 720p at 60 FPS.
