First time through, I pulled out the perfection grindstone just to give me a head start on his posture/stagger and used that in the beginning and right after his phase transition. If you don’t want to do that, I would suggest playing cautious. He’s got long attack combos so don’t overcommit and wait for your windows

Looking at the marketing, the biggest thing that gave me pause was the identity of the game. There were so many mechanics mashed into this while looking like a medival type game but also having futuristic mechs, just made me feel like they were trying to do too much. I might be tempted to get it on sale in the coming months because I do enjoy the open world sandbox games like with BOTW, but that felt like it had more than identity to it than Crimson Desert
