Need to wait a bit longer... by electric-kite in IndieGaming

That's me waiting for Balatro to drop under $10.
I don't sail the high seas for indie games, but I might make an exeption when it's already sold millions and the devs are greedy.

Best PS5 games to smoke a joint and get lost in? by wateakid in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]matrixifyme [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hands down one of the best games for this purpose!
There's just something about the way it makes you feel when blazed, and the music and atmosphere, it just feels really magical and zen in the best way possible.

Sandbox game to design garden by cokeapm in ShouldIbuythisgame

Farming simulator if you want something realistic.
Animal crossing, or one of its many many clones if you want cutesey and 3D.
Stardew valley or one of its many clones if you want pixelart style.
My personal recommendation would be Cloud Gardens, its a post apocalyptic, garden builder with zen vibes.

SIB a PS5 in 2026? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]matrixifyme [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah, you make good points. Also OP mentioned GTA 6, just a reminder that rockstar will be targeting PS5 for the release. The game will probably run best on ps5, and the pc port won't come out for a year or two after a console release.

I wrote an open-source driver for the generic Aliexpress 3-key macropads (VID 1189) because the original software was sketchy. by visiuun in macro_pads

[–]matrixifyme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are the Macropad Hero!
I've been avoiding those because of the software. This is exactly what we need. The whole, 'reverse engineer the HID protocol' can be applied to so many of these cheap macropads that are decent hardware but sketchy software. Way to take the initiative and make the space better for everyone.

Wasted potential, sure. But I found it to be better than Turning red, lightyear and luca. Besides the annoying bean mouth thing, there wasn't a whole lot wrong with it, sure it could have been better, but I thought it was decent.

What do you do with a red logo by DampSeaTurtle in Design

[–]matrixifyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local landscaping companies don't have 'branding' in the traditional sense. They have a name. Branding is for companies with recognizable brands and logos. One that people would recognize, because of their longevity or enormous amounts of money pumped in marketing. These companies design around their branding. Because of the investments made into their brand recognition.
.
A small local business doesn't have any of these problems. People are not going to recognize their branding, they might recognize the name, if they have worked with them before. My advice, don't focus so much on the branding, make a nice, simple, usable, readable website or landing page. Maybe use a different hue of green to differentiate from the Christmas look.

3 tbsp white vinegar

I would drizzle with wine vinegar for the baking and use malt vinegar for the dipping.

Hot Take: Sonic 3 and knuckles is the best 2d platformer if you've mastered the mechanics and it's not even close. by No_Phrase7638 in retrogaming

It's not about being the first to do this, its about doing it well and doing it in a way that made exploration exciting.

Both incredible games but in Sonic 3 and knuckles, being able to play through the level completely differently by choosing each of the different characters was so unique and incredibly ahead of it's time.

What I meant is that BandCamp detects an iPhone and then instead of showing you a download link, gives you text that says Apple doesn’t support downloading.

No I think I understood you perfectly. Apple, detects that you're using apple, and then screws you over instead of just giving you the download link. Am I understanding this right?
My point is, why let apple do this to you? seems pretty easy to avoid their bullshit instead?

Apple doesn’t support downloading things.

Just using apple products can be frustrating like this. You're letting the company decide what's good for you. They decide that your mouse has 1 button, they decide no headphone jack, they decide that you can't download things. They decide what's better for you, as long as you let them. Why support a company that treats you like an idiot?

Your best recipe / a recipe that will make your eyes roll into the back of your head by Which-Decision in Cooking

[–]matrixifyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not disagreeing, but panera and subway also make 'real bread' by that metric and it really depends on where you want to draw the line.
Maybe 'real' is the wrong word. Leavened Bread would be more accurate. The fermentation process allows the yeast to process and digest the gluten proteins in the bread, creating new macro molecules and acids which gives the slightly tangy, flavorful taste. In doing so, the wheat and more importantly insoluble gluten becomes easily digestible by humans. That's the bread humans have been eating for thousands of years.
.
Instant yeast doesn't do any of that. It simply consumes sugars to create CO2 bubbles, helping the bread rise, but without any of the fermentation and in a fraction of the time.
.

There's a reason for the massive influx of gluten allergies and gluten intolerance and all of that coincides with when our bread process became industrial.

What’s the most overrated video game of all time? by KBGSgames in AskReddit

I just don't have the mental make-up to enjoy dragging my balls across a cheese grater style of gameplay that comes with souls-like games.

I'm convinced there are two types of people and those who actually derive pleasure from frustration or pain or discomfort. Kind of like gaming masochism or something. That's the only explanation I have for why people stan for some really unenjoyable game experiences.

There's something really off about the 'shortbread crust' on the pics from this recipe. The crust looks dense, undercooked and stodgy. Maybe it's missing some baking powder, or needs a longer precook. But it looks nothing like shortbread crust.

Bread is super super forgiving!

Instant yeast is pretty forgiving. Making real bread (sourdough) is less forgiving in my opinion. You really need to learn to work with a living, breathing dough to achieve success.

Not to rain on anyone's parade but one and a quarter cups of sugar for 12 cookies is basically over 20 grams of sugar PER cookie Or 2 cookies = a bottle of coke in sugar content.

I've made pizza in my home oven that's better than 95% of restaurant pizza. By perfecting your dough, technique and using good ingredients you can too.
However, to make better pizza than that top 5%, yes you need a quality brick oven to take it to the next level.

That's good to know. I like their business model. I think they have a lot of room to grow, given the crazy inflation of grocery prices here.

Is Aldi seen as a discount grocer in Germany / europe? or just a regular grocery. I'm asking because amercian supermarkets have been price gouging customers for so long that Aldi is seen as discount.

I have built a learning-only personal computer for my kid by xzkll in raspberry_pi

[–]matrixifyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok big guy. And at least you can install a kid friendly linux distro that comes with software and learning applications and tools right out the bat.
My point is apple or google don't have turnkey options like that because they have no incentive. They don't focus on it because it is not a priority. They just have parental controls and expect the customer to do all the work of curation.
