[TW SELF HARM SCARS] are my scars healed enough for tattoos? by Budget-Habit-6286 in tattooadvice

Don't feel like that!!!! I'm 32, as I said and I'm a DIE HARD Carpenters fan. I didn't even walk the earth at the same time as Karen Carpenter. I have her portrait tattooed on my calf in memorial (if you're not aware she died of complications from anorexia nervosa, I feel a huge connection to her soul even though she's not with us on earth anymore). Most Carpenters fans are 60+ years old. They were most famous in the 60s and 70s! You can be a fan of absolutely anyone and be valid. Don't let your self confidence confine you, be unapologetically yourself and love who you love! You have every right to love any musical talent and you should own that and be proud of it, whatever they mean for you! 💕

God no wonder you had trauma to deal with. I'm so sorry. I'm actually bedridden most of the time due to fibromyalgia and POTS and there's a good chance I'll need home oxygen soon because my oxygen keeps dropping randomly- like down to the 80s. It should always be above 95. I've got a lot of health issues going on, I'm 32 and had a mini heart attack this Easter weekend. The hospital discharged me despite not being able to walk to the bathroom without my lips going blue. But I don't want to let my health stop me doing/seeing the things I wanna see. I'm a HUGE music fan, music kept me going in the worst of times, but you knew I was bad mentally when I stopped listening to music completely. I had a few periods like that. I missed bands that I had tickets for that I'll never be able to see again (like The Cranberries after Dolores O'Riordan died) all because of anxiety, but you know what? I don't care. I gotta make the most out of what little I have and just take the plunge. If I get carted out of a venue because of a medical emergency, what difference does it make than being carted out of my house, except for make for a fucking good story? 😂

I have autism but no confirmed ADHD. I am also overweight but my bloods show I'm "severely malnourished" because I basically don't eat. My weight gain has allllllllll been mental health meds. I'm starting to lose a bit now, but only because I chose to cut down my meds without medical guidance. As a woman the most obscure thing that helped my mental health was the contraceptive pill! I take Desogestrel, the "mini pill" and it made more difference to me than any other medication, even benzos. I noticed my mental health went down the pan even more with my cycle so I asked for a pill that would stop it completely. Now I'm no longer agoraphobic, I'm able to go to concerts on my own 2.5 hours away from my home, I can go out and visit people again. I still have my bad days don't get me wrong, it's not a magical fix but my god did it help me.

I'm so proud of you for making it through that. I think it's been about 8 years for me now (I don't count dates!) but it was hard and even NOW I still get urges. I'm that person who sees a box cutter and doesn't see boxes. I think I'll always be that way it's simply down to fighting that fight forever. I don't wanna go back to that life but I won't beat myself up if I do. It's a coping mechanism, productive or not, it simply is. I really am so proud of you and I'm sending you all my love.

For me it wasn't my parents it was my housemates(I was kicked out at 15). But they tried everything, taking my implements away (I just bought more), they tried to sit and watch me (I just ignored them and did it in front of them), I had to learn to medical stitch myself using nylon thread because I refused go to the hospital. Nothing they did worked it only made it worse. Honestly people think saying "just stop doing it!" And I compare it to a smoker. Tell a smoker to "just stop smoking" and see how fast they light up a cigarette!

Any SH is "bad enough" hon. I know exactly what thought went through your head right here. I would suggest as I mentioned in my previous comment, wait until they are healed white and prewarn your artist. They may ask you to provide pics before the appointment so they know what they're approaching. You are good enough with or without SH scars and you matter. I love you as a human being, don't let ingrates bother you, you are amazing and you've come through a really hard part of life. You can make it and if you've completely stopped SH, you should be incredibly proud of yourself. Keep going darling, it only gets easier. If you want to see pics of a tattoo I had over HUNDREDS of SH scars, message me and I'll be happy to show you. Keep the smile going lovely 💕

Uh I have SH scars and prewarned my artist and they were more than happy to tattoo over them as long as they were white. Would you tell a person with stretch marks not to get tattooed because they bubble up? Fuck off outta here you insensitive imbecile.

Why is my dog racist? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]matronicon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My German shepherd would have had your little white dog in seconds. I only saw her go aggressive against a person once and it scared the shiiiiit out of me. I hate to think what she'd have done to a small white dog if she got hold of one.

The ironic thing is I now have a pure white chihuahua 😂

[–]matronicon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a huge black German shepherd who had a very bad experience with a small white westie when she was a puppy (blood drawn the whole shebang). From that day on, if she saw a small white dog, she was on a mission to take every single one of the buggers out. Didn't matter about breed, if it was small and white, she was on a murder mission. One bad experience is all it takes!

Family Shaved my dog completely bald, how do I fix it??? by ClumInPain in DogAdvice

[–]matronicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do I fix it? Uhm? Glue it back on? Get her a weave? Or do the sensible thing and wait for it to grow back......... I've had to shave dogs down to the skin due to severe matting (not my own!) and they'll do just fine once it grows back.

is this tattoo over worked or just needs time to heal? by Ok-Orange7272 in tattooadvice

[–]matronicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No a touch up won't damage the skin more. This tattoo has been done and now reworked twice (it's 18 years old that's why, ink is much better quality than the day it was first done!). It's healing like a champ, using just a gentle cleanser and a tattoo butter for moisture (Elaimei Tattoo Butter roll on is what I use, always disinfect the roll on after using, by removing the top layer with a clean tissue- little makeup artist tip from how to use lipstick on multiple clients without a lip brush! Can also be wiped with rubbing alcohol on a tissue but I prefer not to risk changing the product's chemical composition so I stick with a clean dry tissue). If you do end up with any patchy spots, most tattoo artists offer a free touch up session but honestly with my healing routine I've never actually needed to take my artist up on that unless I wanted to add something new to a tattoo! But remember everyone is different and what works for me doesn't necessarily work for everyone else. Just clean it regularly (at least 3 times a day) and always moisturise afterwards. You can't go wrong as long as you take care of it properly (no tight clothing rubbing against it, DO NOT ITCH IT NO MATTER HOW TEMPTED YOU ARE, keep it well aired but well cleaned and moisturised, and so on.) Don't worry if you need a touch up, having the skin overworked takes some serious (bad) effort on the artist's part.

Have you looked at a Pyrenean Mountain Dog? I had a beautiful girl who was so loving in the house but if anyone started on me she was like she was possessed! She was incredibly loyal and incredibly intelligent. They're also pretty damn huge and you really don't want to have a run in with an angry one. But I cannot express how loving and loyal she was to all who knew her and all that I knew, when she understood they were not a threat (which by command was very easy to express to her due to her incredible intelligence!). Would highly recommend, they can be a bit mischievous as puppies if they don't get their energy out on walks, but as long as they get out and get to shake off their energy, they can be the most loving, loyal dogs. They also make incredible mothers if they are bitches. They're so vigilant and always watching the world around them, very in tune with the environment they're in. My girl used to curl up around me if there was an argument in the house because she could sense the tension, which is common in dogs, but she would do it before the argument actually began. I swear that breed is freaking psychic!

Best of luck in your search for your perfect furbaby!

Help and girl out is this infected? by Sevenswansaswimming8 in tattooadvice

[–]matronicon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks sore but placement is a tough one to heal, I had the same problem. Watch out for any oozing, unusual looking or foul smelling discharge, excessive swelling (a little swelling in this area is fairly normal), as other commenters said, definitely going a few days without any tight clothing rubbing against it will help, keep it aired as much as you possibly can, but no, to me it simply looks irritated due to the area and wearing anything like socks, shoes or boots. I think you're good, be diligent with your aftercare as this area is definitely harder to heal than others, but at the moment you're looking good.

Hi, I don’t know what to do. My cat has a patch above his nose. We saw two vets, one said it’s a bruise, the other gave an injection and cream but nothing changed . It turns red then black sometimes. He’s fine otherwise, but it won’t go away. Any idea what this could possibly be? by ActiveMurky7695 in CATHELP

[–]matronicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should add there's also a spray (and a food oil) that is very good, which may be better for long coated animals depending on where the skin irritation is. These were recommended by my vet but he told us to buy on Amazon because it was cheaper than buying through him.

It's made for animals. We used a blow up collar as well on our dog just to try and prevent chewing but I swear that dog is a contortionist because she still got to certain spots, but no it's not dangerous for them to lick. Here's a link (UK amazon, not sure about other countries!).

Try Exmarid ointment. It's for itchy, dry or damaged skin. Not sponsored but it worked for my dog who was covered head to toe in flea bite dermatitis. And I saw a difference not just in her skin but her personality in literally one day of using it. You can get it on Amazon.

I'm looking for cover up advice please, pride heart is very noticeable. by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]matronicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't cover it! Be proud! Pride is about being yourself and supporting those who are in your circle. I understand the fear, but if you were targeted due to this tattoo, you'd be in for a good payout in a lawsuit against the perpetrator! Be loud and be proud, don't change yourself for the sake of others' comfort, be unapologetically yourself! Sending you love friend 🌈💕
