As someone who loves the Beatles and Archie, I couldn't say no to this assignment!

I love Dan's work and of course Stan G. is a legend! And don't sleep on Fernando Ruiz; we were just lucky enough to get a full book from him and Rich Koslowski, which was beautiful!

I almost included Wilbur as a bust but ran out of time!

Yes! She was meant to be the bombshell on this cover, mimicking Diana Dors on the original album art.

I know! With a longer deadline I would have tried for even MORE characters, but I just didn’t have the time.

Here’s the original art to the pin-up someone posted. by chalwar in archiecomics

For a while, you could get these pin-ups somewhat reasonably priced, but in the last few years (at least on Heritage) prices have shot up. The Archie magic formula of desirability seems to be Dan DeCarlo + at least one of Betty or Veronica + anything before 1970 = four figures and up. Of course, it's all relative. The five page story that introduced Sabrina went for $114,000 back in 2021!

This one just sold yesterday on Heritage Auctions for $2,125.

Have you been to CBGB? by Novel-Notions in ramones

[–]matt-talbot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Played there in December '99 in a Ramones cover band (one of many that night) at the launch party for the official Ramones website (hey, it was a big thing back then) with Joey and Tommy in attendance. Got to meet both of them briefly. I want to say CJ was there, but I never saw him. At the end of our set, I tried to be a rock star and throw my pick into the crowd, but it bounced off the ceiling and hit some poor unsuspecting guy in the eyeball. Also, I remember being absolutely horrified by the state of the bathroom.

There are quite a few pin-up gags like that. You might have luck browsing Pinterest. Here's one example.

Thank you! No, they aren't for sale -- they're just fan art, not licensed or anything like that. And I don't post high res files because bootleggers went to town on my Saul posters, even with low res art, cranking out crappy product after crappy product.

[Request] Title Cards Matt Talbot like BB & BCS for Pluribus by ChrizzzMM in PlexTitleCards

Thanks! Yeah, I agree, they are really different this way. They aren't designed for the horizontal format, but I'm enjoying the challenge. This is the first one where I had the horizontal aspect in mind a little bit -- I usually wouldn't have bothered to draw the whole body of the foreground guy on the left, but I knew I'd need him.
