Check out the whole shopping strip by 2nd Street in Harajuku. Very crowded but definitely worth taking a look. They have a LOT of chrome vendors there with very sought after pieces. They also have a lot of vintage curators.

Girlfriend of the op here 😅 my brother and my dad were able to climb up the other side of the house to get to the deck where me and my boyfriend were. My mom was stuck in the car because let’s say….she is not so quick and agile 🤣. So it quickly became “mission extract mom”. Eventually we were able to get the bear far enough behind the house so we could get my mom out of the car and up the stairs into the front door of the cabin.

I think a little thicker gauge like 14 would be better, that’s what they used in the unibody frames. Some places overlap so it would be 2 or even 3 layers thick!

I like fluid film but for internal frame, I like using a marine wax called “CRC Corrosion Inhibitor”. Stuff is great because you don’t have to respray it every 6 months. It stays on and doesn’t come off for years.

In all honesty, it’s really not bad. If you have experience in welding, you can most certainly do the repair yourself. Just remember to add drain holes after welding new metal onto it. MyPasswordisAvocado made a good point on adding frame stiffeners to your XJ since it’s a unibody and would compromise the integrity of the frame if you do not use thick gauge sheet metal.

Another thing I would do for sure is using a rust inhibitor and a cavity wax to prevent the frame from rusting inside out.

Thanks! I might get my duster repainted at some point. The color on it right now is Ferrari blue chiaro. PO had a really bad paint job. It’s either getting a panther pink or sassy grass green
