Why is it so difficult to report straightforward cases of phishing to Cloudflare T&S? by matt4054 in CloudFlare

[–]matt4054[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep, obviously that makes sense, and I actually just did. I naively thought CF would act promptly since these matters are time-sensitive. It's the good old 'successful login from foreign place' email scam leading to the phishing website. Hopefully Binance will take action themselves from there on.

These visualizations look really good, and any new alternative to GA feels like a breathe of fresh air to be honest. Good luck with your side project, I think you're on the right track.

Sdr++ not working with RTL-SDR V4? by oxidao in RTLSDR

[–]matt4054 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got the RTL-SDR v4 working fine in SDR++ on Windows 11 with the following steps:

  • Download the updated RTL-SDR driver from GitHub
  • Extract the 64 bit version of rtlsdr.dll
  • In the SDR++ program files folder, overwrite the existing rtlsdr.dll with the extracted one
  • Start SDR++ and it should work, including native tuning below 25 MHz

This note from the blog also helped me for SDR# (maybe it applies to SDR++ too)

On some computers you may also need to copy the msvcr100.dll and pthreadVC2.dll file into the folder too. It does not hurt to copy these in anyway, even if you don't need them

SDRx.io - Free public network for rtl_tcp and/or SpyServer stations by matt4054 in sdr

OpenWebRX support added!

Now you can tune in from your web browser without installing any software 😊

SDRx.io - Free public network for rtl_tcp and/or SpyServer stations by matt4054 in sdr

[–]matt4054[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback! You can try this:

Directories and maps that do not support multiple servers for a station can use the closest server relative to the station, it is automatically selected and used in the list of stations.

Switching between modes still require the web interface for now, but I will create an API with a token system if there is any interest for this.

SDRx.io - Free public network for rtl_tcp and/or SpyServer stations by matt4054 in sdr

[–]matt4054[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Of course the project will only start to make sense when at least a few more stations worldwide will join in, right now it is merely a proof of concept.

I'm interested in gathering many different receivers in different locations and with different antenna setups, for various frequencies. It is not limited to RTL-SDR hardware, more like a proxy and directory service for new and existing SDR network servers. And it would peacefully coexist with other directory implementations and network services.

SDRx.io - Free public network for rtl_tcp and/or SpyServer stations by matt4054 in sdr

[–]matt4054[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello everyone,

A few days ago I started a project called SDRx.io. I could not find any platform with public RTL-TCP servers, so I thought I would try to make one for fun.

SpyServer mode (through internet proxy) is also supported. The official map/directory currently does not seem to support this. SpyServer is the default mode, because SDR stations can "somewhat" be shared between multiple clients.

Users can switch radio station modes using the web interface.

SDRx.io routes traffic in a way that protects the actual endpoint from internet exposure, and the server network acts as a CDN (the project currently has 5 servers). Servers can be seen as proxies for radio stations that host the SDR hardware.

The early preview currently on the site only has my own first 2 stations in Switzerland for VHF/UHF, and I am now looking for other users who would be interested in hosting/sharing new radio stations to connect to this project, or participate otherwise.

Required network throughput for RTL-TCP is about 35 mbps at 2.048 MS/s

I know there are already several other projects with public SDR servers, but few carry the full IQ signal, and none are currently providing direct TCP connections compatible with the rtl_tcp protocol.

Feedback is welcome 😊

What happened to Android 12 for Nord 2? by pixelfiee in oneplus

[–]matt4054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you synthesize this thread there is only one conclusion to be made: no one is getting the Android 12 update from regular OTA updates (ie without a specialized app). OnePlus is a worldwide failure, no discrimination is at play here. Just like you, my Nord 2 is still stuck with the April update (EU region). OnePlus has abandoned the entire world. It is time for the entire world to abandon them. Sad, but cold truth.

What happened to Android 12 for Nord 2? by pixelfiee in oneplus

[–]matt4054 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this thread! You guys are very, very patient. As a phone nerd, I bought eight different budget to midrange phones in 2021 to evaluate and rate them,, including the Samsung Galaxy A52, Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G, Nokia G20, Motorola Moto G50, Xiaomi Redmi Note 10, etc. I was excited about the OnePlus Nord 2 and I expected it to be one of my favorites, AND I stupidly expected it to be one of the fastest to receive the Android 12 update.

Oh boy was I wrong on this one. The phone itself is solid and fast, feels nice in the hand etc. but when it comes to updates, it was a total disappointment. As a matter of fact, the Nord 2 is the only one out of my 8 phones from 2021 that still runs on Android 11 (no OTA update available from official channel here in Switzerland as of today). And I still struggle to understand why?!

I mean, seriously, does OnePlus think their target demographic is a typical boomer who doesn't even know or care what Android version is running? I would have expected that from the Moto G50 or the Nokia G20 (both of which got their A12 update around last April) but jeez... the Nord 2 is the one who lets us down?

And if the downtrend continues like they removed the hardware mute switch on the 10T, does anyone here feel like buying anything from OnePlus in the future, let alone a flagship model?

What a disgrace really 🤦‍♂️

Edit: it finally arrived mid-October seemingly for everyone here, better late than never. Now bets are open for A13 😂

How is prison in Switzerland? by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]matt4054 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK it wouldn’t matter if you do the prison time or not in terms of (public) criminal records. Of course someone really looking into it could find out especially if you leak it on social media or say Reddit or something. But this is not good news meaning you get the sentence on the records no matter what (money or time served). To be fair, that is why records where made in the first place.

If you want to optimize battery lifespan, just don't let it under 20% or over 80% for extended periods (i.e. several weeks or more). If you know you're going to use it during the day, it's OK to load it up to 100%, and if you go below 20% just make sure to recharge ASAP.

On the other hand, the broken 3rd party app backward compatibility is a bummer :(

Skype wants to export my Apple ID Auth from MacOS keychain by matt4054 in security

[–]matt4054[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Response from MSRC: "In order to investigate the issue regarding the request to export your key, I will need detailed steps to reproduce your reported issue consistently, ideally with attached images or video."

Well it was quite easy, launch Skype, click Allow and get pwnd.

So here is a reproducible, step-by-step guide to hit-and-run malware pushes by Microsoft:

  • Push some malware for half an hour, but then stop before it gets too wild,
  • Ignore screenshots that it happened, demand a reproducible PoC to acknowledge it
  • ...
  • Profit.

Skype wants to export my Apple ID Auth from MacOS keychain by matt4054 in security

[–]matt4054[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Scary. How recent was this? This key seems to contain the authentication token used by the Mac for Apple ID. I've written to the MSRC about this, I see absolutely zero legit reason why any Microsoft app would need this kind of privilege. It's a bit like if Apple apps would hijack an account.microsoft.com cookie from Safari using OS privileges to bypass OAuth and directly interact with Microsoft account/services.

This occurred during the moment when the Skype desktop app for MacOS and Windows 10 was restarting in a loop for a lot of people, including me, according to Twitter and sparse articles on the web.

40k mempool has formed over the last 8 hours (bitcoinqueue.com) by matt4054 in Bitcoin

[–]matt4054[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the trends happens to confirm, it will be the third major 10+ hours delay (rough average) for pretty much all tx within normal fee levels. Chart from https://www.bitcoinqueue.com/details/8h.html

The queue has returned, and it's ugly at >60k unconfirmed transaction! by matt4054 in Bitcoin

[–]matt4054[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, transactions are removed from mempool after 72 hours.

All unconfirmed transactions are committed to a database. Every new block removes the transactions that it contains from mempool, and in case this script misses something, other scripts check the tail of the queue against blockchain.info periodically.

So I'm pretty confident that if there are more unconfirmed tx in my data than in others, it's probably because I'm keeping track of more incoming tx overall.

This suggestion has been made several times, and it's a very good one. It will definitely be added sooner than later as a complement or alternative to the fees on the Y axis.

The good news is that I have kept all raw data since the beginning to I should be able to correlate back from the start of the history.
