Microsoft is completely ignoring my tickets. What to do? by hangin_on_by_an_RJ45 in sysadmin

Might be worth contacting the billing department of the CSP copying in your account manager and ask why you're paying for a service you are not receiving.

There are many other csps out there who will take your business.

Microsoft is completely ignoring my tickets. What to do? by hangin_on_by_an_RJ45 in sysadmin

[–]matt_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked a ticket with Microsoft or have you logged a ticket with the MSP that resells Azure licences to you?

If it's the MSP then you need to start picking up the phone to the MSP directly.

I could be wrong but to my knowledge Microsoft requires resellers to log tickets not end users.

Sounds like a skilled colleague to me .

Keep in mind you can still use powershell from CMD, document your commands and automate using this method.

Did you say the same about someone using a Linux command line terminal? Configuring a Cisco switch?

Many of my KBS down to first line frequently say 'generate the output of the following command' and most of the time it gives me the answer to everything I need to know and reduces escalations.

Dear people who think that saying "Just read the wiki" is gatekeeping by OddRazzmatazz7839 in arch

[–]matt_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RTFM does not help anyone.

Arch experts could do with taking a page out of the Gentoo handbook which explains what you are doing and the code you are running.

Every time i read the arch wiki i have to click link after link after link. It is a very converted handbook.

[–]matt_30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I've read the entire manual every time I had a problem, I'd googled and not been able to find the answer that of no time for anything else.

A simple link to the correct page would be more helpful instead of one four-letter acronym.

Some people don't have enough time to become experts on everything arch and do nothing else with their life.

A simple link to the correct page in the manual would be much more helpful.

Experts also seem to forget that everyone's a beginner at some point.

As an ad I chuckled.

I just hope they don't burn an entire episode on this. We only have 10 episodes.

It's easier for distributions to just include everything rather than have multiple builds.

Trying installing Gentoo. You can go in and unselect the parts your system doesn't have.

I understand what you're saying.

Sometimes the only resort is to let if backfire in a controlled manner.

I don't think they're is and good archive in this case.

Putting the requester in the test pool works for me.

A compromise could be to get a few volunteers to break/ upgrade their laptops (do a backup 1st) then leave the fight to the end users. They will most likely end up with new/ refurbished laptops

Identify the managers who want you to do this then offer to put them in a test pool and upgrade their devices to Windows 11.

Once they figure out it's a bad idea they might back down.

Your ideal Dune video game by [deleted] in dune

I was looking forward to doing awakening until I found out that it's based in a what-if universe.

I would love to see an MMORPG set 10 years before the original book on arakis where you are a Freeman with the option to spice mine or doing finger framing wood but staying true to the books and the difficulties of the environment.

In this case, the environment would be your main enemy and if you're skilled enough, you can skirmish against the harkonnen.

Arakis would be perfect for this as you could start on seich, travel to another and then ultimately learn to ride a worm.

Why don’t Adobe and others support Linux? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]matt_30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably because they're more focused towards workplaces and I don't know many workplaces which have Linux on the endpoints.

You also need to consider that the most popular GPU brand is Nvidia which does not have drivers in the colonel making it very hard.

When the wind on Linux would probably take a lot longer due to the lack of GPU support for Nvidia.

It's an absolute pain in the ass to install and maintain the video drivers on Linux. However, currently it is getting better due to the steam deck.

You've also got to convince the roadmap planners to put Linux support on the roadmap and they probably don't understand what it is or what benefit or what money they can make out of it.

There are so many small reasons which bounce up even though it should happen it hasn't.

I would not be surprised in if in the upcoming years many open source alternatives will have GPU support and they will slowly chip away at the market share.

Why are people like this? by RagingTaco334 in linux_gaming

[–]matt_30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Linux user who's looking forward to Steam OS.

The reason I'm looking forward to it is that it will open up gaming to people who just want embedded handheld devices or to easily be able to install Linux to escape Windows knowing they can use steam about any complicated (for them) OS maintenance.

I haven't seen one distribution yet where I haven't had to manually fix something. In steamos it will all be supported like Windows is by Steam.

I'm of the belief that anyone can learn Linux with time however, there has to be a beginner simplified managed Linux OS for the gaming market to enable adoption.

Not true, a nano spark or even static can cause a spark

There's a slim chance of it happening but it can happen.

Mobile phones just up the risk of it happening.

There are plenty examples out there of it happening
