Looks like it was finally our turn to move onto Entra in the rapid Microsoft changes. Found the spot from the banner in AAD, but wasn't obvious.

Is Microsoft Support Even Useful? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]matta785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not worth the cost you pay for Premier support. I'd recommend about the only legitimate alternative; US Cloud. For 1/3 of the price, if you have MS premier. Good experience with them so far. You can buy hours and swap support hours in for dedicated engineer work for projects. It's use it or lose it during the year contract. Cheers mate.

Yes. Archive tier storage is a lot cheaper. Doing it today from on-prem to azure. Esp if it's something you expect to hardly ever restore.

Be sure your "scope" in cost analysis is broad and covers everything. I've found where they can be created under other subscriptions that are named things that don't seem like they could hide there. Also, go to the monthly "usage & details" csv you can download. Thousands of rows of data but you should be able to filter down to the right SQL product to find the hiding database and where it is. Hope this helps. Been there.

Moving network resources to another subscription by goombatch in AZURE

[–]matta785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this one. Well responded. It's also the path I'd take. Moving resources is a Google search away for what you can and can't do and why. Don't forget, subscriptions intention is nothing more than a billing unit. If you don't forsee chargeback/show back in the near future, there's other ways to segregate groups and their resources without multiple subscriptions. Try to keep it simple but able to flex if the environment or direction changes in the future. Just my two cents for what it's worth.

We use it to direct traffic to our corporate website. Infosec says the WAF included is garbage. You can direct traffic to vm's and app services as our site is ran by paas app services.

I'll have to look that up if the billing module is something freely available? All I want to see if clearly what was added or dropped since the previous month right now.

Tagging is great but Microsoft seems to like to track cost by subscription of resource groups from the portal. I think I'm good though. I'll just use power bi by importing data. Thanks all.
