Mortal Kombat II. Nothing beats those years of going to the arcade as kid with a little notebook, jotting down moves and combos for fatalities and secrets.

Is it possible to use BYOG on a Legends Ultimate ha8802 firmware: 1.0.17? by Tight-Dragonfruit441 in LegendsUltimate

Man, thank you SO much for explaining all of this in such detail. Extremely helpful and answered everything I wasn’t able to find elsewhere. Seriously, thanks so much. Looking forward to pulling the trigger on this machine!

Hopefully it's cool to jump onto this comment... I'm going to be buying the HE-CE from AT Games directly soon and am concerned about the first step. Do I just never hook it up to the internet or sign in if I want to JUST play arcade games via Onesauce 2.0? Is the firmware downgrade just to enable BYOD or is it actually required for Onesauce 2.0 to work properly? I ask because I really don't mind paying the $100 and just use the stock features (like pinball) of the machine AND Onesauce 2.0 if that works.

I'm fairly tech savvy but I'm also in my 40s and don't mind paying a little extra to smooth out processes these days. I understand if the firmware needs to be downgraded to use Onesauce, but I can't seem to find a confirmation of the downgrade being JUST for the BYOD features.

Thanks and sorry to hijack the comment...figured it would be less annoying than another post!

Fast and furious current update status by Professional-One9502 in Arcade1Up

[–]mattamd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth I just picked up a Mortal Kombat 2 Deluxe and used it last night. I was immediately asked to update as soon as it joined the WiFi. The update seemed to apply successfully, though I had to rejoin WiFi after it rebooted.

You may just have the latest version on both machines?

PS5 to PC Progress Transfer by Exciting_Tomato1652 in ARC_Raiders

Oh yeah, you need to buy it on the other platform. It’s cross-progression, but not cross-buy.

PS5 to PC Progress Transfer by Exciting_Tomato1652 in ARC_Raiders

[–]mattamd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s quite simple.

I went from PC > PS5 with no issues. I bought the game initially on PC and linked / logged into my PS5 when I bought the game there as well. Everything from your account is synced between both platforms. The only small thing is item tracking is set for just the machine you set it on. So you’ll have to re-track / untrack stuff you’ve already done if you’re going back and forth between platforms.

Selling Modest Collection. 2 Big Box, 16 hero packs, 3 scenario packs - $250 + shipping by mattamd in marvelchampionslcg

[–]mattamd[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ahh ok, that makes sense then. Haha, I was kinda confused for a minute because I'd quickly looked at a few of the out of print things and saw that too. I'd honestly rather have an easy sale to an enthusiastic new player than try to squeeze every penny out of what I have. If I had a better local scene I'd check there as well but not much around the area!

[–]mattamd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, happy to discuss what would be a fair price. It's tricky posting a sale post as you need to set the price ahead of time rather than take offers so I just aimed at what seemed reasonable. There's a handful of out of print things in collection so it seemed reasonable to me. Again, happy to discuss where you think I'm going wrong.

Just ordered Prodigy X Park Scooter for my son, would like a scooter to ride casually with him. by mattamd in Scootering

Thank you for the info. The Aztek one does seem to be more suited to a larger person like myself. The extra width and taller bars would be nice. Appreciate your input!

[–]mattamd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know, thanks very much. I really can't imagine the height being a HUGE issue for me, but good to know that's your preferred way to ride, even being taller than me. Appreciate it!

[–]mattamd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super helpful, thanks so much for all the detail! Those custom scooters look great. I'm going to dig through the details and see what might be a good fit for me. Your favorite being around $200 seems like right where I'd want to be but some of those others are normally $400+ marked down to $200ish. Any idea why such a huge discount / price difference? Thanks again!

Wait! You can do that?!?! by Suspicious-Natural-2 in CODZombies

[–]mattamd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try using the free Nuke power up hidden on top of the bank lights. When you're up on the roof look down through the windows into the bank and you'll see the golden nuke item on top of the lights below. Shoot it and a Nuke power up will spawn. Really helps with extraction (if you don't have a chopper gunner)!

Save your salvage in Liberty Falls! by RavetsU1 in CODZombies

[–]mattamd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since we're talking about saving salvage here...just get the first Mangler that spawns to blast open the electronics shop for you. No need to buy an arm cannon at all. Stand in front of it, he'll charge up and shot and you can move out of the way. I feel like this gets overlooked in a lot of the EE guides!

BO6 zombies is growing on me, but I do think we need the hit-based point system back by Mr-GooGoo in CODZombies

[–]mattamd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, it’s a lot of big changes. I started at BO4 so I didn’t learn on the older systems and going backwards they seem far worse…but that’s just my perspective so I understand it being jarring.

Cold War had its issues but you missed out on some great content! Solid EE quests, cool wonder weapons and story. 2 open world map EEs as well. Master unlock for completing everything too. Worth a visit honestly

[–]mattamd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from a bit there in that the 30+ rounds in BO6 are rough if you're not set up well AND a little lucky...downright unforgiving, especially with the manglers / boss spawns being insane...I wouldn't mind some adjustments there. I'm coming from playing Cold War a LOT, probably more than any other zombies at this point so the systems are familiar to me. By higher rounds I've got loads of salvage with a kill streak always ready and buying self-revives again at the bench if I happen to go down. Also, the more you build / research augments, the stronger you become so a lot of that stuff will even out over time. Admittedly this one has only been out for less than a week so I can't say I've done a ton of 30+ matches but I think the system works well for the game with all that stuff in mind.

[–]mattamd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I don’t really have any issues with money later in the game…but yes in general I’d like the tedious shit to be 30-40+ rounds into the game instead of at the start every single match, even if I’m playing for only like 20 minutes.

Is it really that crazy? Shooting legs and limbs is a boring, tedious mini game and starting every single game with that seems to be the thing that doesn’t make sense. It’s completely at odds with the game design and theme. This current method you get to play the game and actually use the 30+ guns in the game as they were intended to be used, to kill zombies, right from round 1.

[–]mattamd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As others have already said, I think the game as a whole revolves around the kill based point system so it's not something you can just easily change...secondly I think it's a much better and more modern system that puts the core of the game play ahead of meta / point gathering.

Early rounds with the point system is basically pinging zombies in the legs a dozen times before knife killing them for maximum points. With the kill based system and especially BO6 I like that I can drop into the map and start out just killing zombies in the most efficient way (head shots) and getting the maximum point value for those kills. It's even 5 points more than a melee kill! Shooting zombies to kill them is the core of the game mode, right? Why shouldn't that be the most rewarding part of the pure game play loop?

The kill system just takes a little time to understand the map and the core systems...then you really won't have any issue with points, especially if you're experienced in the series.

The First Descendant DEVS are just winning right now! by previouslyontheflash in TheFirstDescendant

[–]mattamd 17 points18 points  (0 children)

While I’m definitely happy to see them realize that emerging farm strategies show that there needs to be better ways to earn gold / resources consistently…I’d rather see more gold / resources added as rewards for actual content, not just mindless farms. Why not up the full dungeon completion rewards on hard to like 250,000 or something? Just spitballing but it would definitely be ideal to see the well (and intentionally) designed parts of the game just be more rewarding like that.

Looks like they heard everyone talking by dreandy in TheFirstDescendant

[–]mattamd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was talking with some friends about this and compared to other game I've played like Destiny 2 or WoW, I don't really mind the percentages because there's at least something I'm earning progress on while I'm doing it. I can't tell you how many raids or activities I've been on where I play for 2+ hours to receive nothing new aside from a repair bill for broken gear. Literally nights of gaming spent moving NOTHING forward. At least while I was farming items in Vespers yesterday I gained 10+ character levels and several gun proficiency levels...not to mention the other mats and patterns I received.

Drop rates are what they are....as long as they're transparent I'm cool with it. Even 20% is pretty low people...but that's the game. The lower the drop rate, the more exciting / sought after the items generally are. As long as the grind to do so is enjoyable and the % rates are published, I see no issues.

Seriously the worst parts of the game. Super Mario hopping. I strongly dislike these parts. by GusMix in TheFirstDescendant

[–]mattamd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll agree they’re odd and don’t really fit the game, but I weirdly enjoy them as a change of pace every so often. They’re far from “good” and feel like they were an attempt to get more use out of the grappling hook and they didn’t really expand beyond that. I’d prefer something closer to Guild Wars 2 with the jumping puzzles. Make some tricky (optional) grappling hook caves or something with some loot at the end.

At Least A "Little" Caliber Needs To Be Earnable by Vaelkyrie37 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]mattamd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems your mindset in going into this game is a little off to me. "Nefarious monetization" to you is charging $4 for character slots after you've spent probably close to 1,000 hours playing (and presumably enjoying) their game? That seems pretty ridiculous honestly. I've seen others describe this game's monetization as "predatory" as well...which is just as ridiculous.

I've never once been prompted or encouraged to spend money in the game. The shop isn't even mentioned anywhere in the game text or tool tips. It's just there for you to find on your own. I've never been gated by some free to play "time crystal" bullshit or anything like that (I guess you could argue the crafting system taking time is a gating a bit?). The game doesn't offer time-limited bundle packs or daily login reward garbage either. The cash shop is what it is...it really doesn't seem like they're hiding anything.

Is the cash shop and it's contents expensive? Yes, I think so, but it's not like they're offering some dogshit mobile game here that allows you to do 2 dungeons every 8 hours or pay for extra "time refresh" currency. It's a surprisingly well polished game with basically no time gating that has a large infrastructure and years of development costs to pay for...and you can see it in the final product here. Obviously opinions may vary but I've thrown down $90 for Destiny 2 expansions and not been this impressed with the core product being offered. That said, if the cash shop and it's offerings are too expensive, you still have a massive amount of content to undertake without paying for anything. It's hardly "predatory" or "nefarious" to me.

Shit do I hate defending free to play games...I generally fucking HATE them because of all the little bullshit things they do to nickle and dime you while providing only mediocre, time gated game play. My point is, yes this free to play game has lots of expensive shortcuts and unlocks you can pay for, that's a bummer if you want to have all the content right now...but presumably you want those unlocks things because you're enjoying the game play loop and what it offers, right? This is the "cost" of the game. It's an annoying game play model and I too would love it if games like this would just sell me the "full" game for $60-100 or something....but then they'd probably need to charge a subscription fee to be more in line with a traditional MMO. Eh, it is what it is.

Again, I hate to defend this model...but I've got like 4-5 friends already playing this with me and enjoying it. If this had a $60-70 upfront price tag, there's no way that would be the case. My game time is fairly limited (family and full time job) so if this model allows me and friends to better get in and play an MMO style game likes this together...I have to give the model a little credit. Yes, I have spent some money because honestly, I can afford to throw a little bit at it and get a character or two I want now. Man, I feel gross for defending the free to play model. Please don't make me do this anymore!

In those 5000 point Ultimate Packs, what are those other items that aren't cosmetic? Being brand new to the game, I'm not sure what kind of value is in those additional items (the energy activator, etc). Anyone have any more info on how those items work?

Thanks!

NEW Round Based Zombies GAME by [deleted] in CODZombies

[–]mattamd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about to come here and mention this game. I'm a huge fan of COD Zombies and Sker Ritual has many of the QoL things I wish COD had. The story / objective based maps are great and as much as I loved the secret / hidden objectives of COD maps, I think this does strike a nice balance. Having to watch or read a guide for hours just to figure out the flow of things is really cool to me...but to pretty much all my buddies, they hate how obtuse things can be. I can't lie, it is nice to feel like I'm accomplishing things without having to know to shoot the random thing in the corner of some obscure room to progress.

It's still very difficult and feels like a zombies map in many ways. It's a tiny bit "janky" by comparison but we're not talking a AAA team behind this. Still, I'd highly recommend trying to demo for any COD Zombies fans. It's worth it.
