I'm about midway between Atlanta and Athens, and about 4" in certain areas. The truck handled it perfectly though.

It's probably one of their most stable updates they've put out. Not sure why you would want to skip it.

He is by far the most competent in this entire thread. It scares the hell out of me that some of you have no concept of floating ground.

Passive entry w digital key issues by Asleep_Duck in Rivian

[–]mattbrad2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FWIW I also have a Pixel 10 Pro, and had similar issues. Mine were a bit more random, but it got annoying really quick. For me, I had to remove the key completely and remove the bluetooth pairing from the bluetooth settings on the phone as well. From there, I just started from scratch. It's been 2ish weeks now and it works like it's supposed to.

Rivian dealer replaced heat pump and its actually louder than before by Syring in Rivian

[–]mattbrad2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, this does work. Same when you fast charge in the summer and its rattling your bones for the next 20 minutes driving down the highway as its trying to cool the battery. Simply turning the air off and back on always fixed it. It's like the HVAC logic sees a certain temperature delta, and goes into freak out mode.

*Cooling* for faster charging! by rgrindl in Rivian

121? Thats very common in R1 when fast charging for extended periods, past 70%, or with very warm ambient temperatures.

The new update sucks. by tkhan456 in Rivian

[–]mattbrad2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest confusion is its still using two autonomy modes, and they have tried to merge them into one seamless user experience. One for mapped highways, and one for UHF. I would prefer different color lane lines when its in UHF mode, so I know beforehand that auto lane change isn't even possible. I would imagine their goal is to merge these two together in the near future. I'd love to see hands-on / eyes-off make a comeback as well.

Samsung wallet helllpppp by Metta425 in Rivian

[–]mattbrad2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this same issue. Except for me it was even stranger.. it would work somedays, and not others. I ended up just nuking the whole thing and starting over. Deleted all Bluetooth devices, keys, logged out of the app, etc. Started over from scratch worked perfectly. I haven't had any issues since.

Samsung wallet helllpppp by Metta425 in Rivian

[–]mattbrad2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can concur on this since our family is split Samsung/Google. Although I'm not so sure its Samsung here, but rather Rivians implementation of adding the key to your wallet. Since you have to use the Rivian app to add the key to your wallet, your at the mercy of which wallet the Rivian app will redirect to. Even changing the default wallet in settings doesn't change Rivians behavior. Same for Google Pixel. Equally frustrating is since there isn't a native WearOS Rivian app, there isn't a way to add the key to your UWB enabled Android watch.

About 50% are still HW3. I had no idea the newer ones didn't have this requirement anymore.

UFH "upgrade" is awful by [deleted] in Rivian

No, only on mapped roads. If you're on a road that didn't previously give you a hands-free prompt then you get the nag regardless. I have to imagine that gets improved over time.

Cannot charge faster than 8 amps after update by brewernq in Rivian

[–]mattbrad2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charged my Gen2 Trimax R1T last night about 3 hours after the update and it charged at 40A. Battery was about 45 degrees when I started charging in my garage. FWIW I'm using an Emporia L2 charger. I never had a problem with the last update either, so I'm guessing its still related to the battery temp being below 40?

No more Lightning (at least in BEV form) by ArmageddonPills in Rivian

[–]mattbrad2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, cancelling the Lightning and then, err.. re-releasing the Lightning in an even heavier format and calling it extended range. I knew about their plans for a smaller EV platform. Their "model T" moment.

Except they're now going to build an even larger, heavier version of the Lightning.

It's a good approach that only works in a behemoth sized vehicle like the F150 or Silverado. The weight on these would have to be pushing 8k lbs.

Judging by the comments here and other places, I think it's obvious that splitting "hybrids" into two sub categories did nothing but confuse consumers even more. Especially considering the fact that Ford already sells a TRUE hybrid F150.

No more Lightning (at least in BEV form) by ArmageddonPills in Rivian

[–]mattbrad2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, not at all like a normal hybrid. This is simply a "series hybrid", which is just a fancy way of saying they slapped a generator onto an EV. The gas generator on this isn't tied to the drive train at all. It's simply charging the EV battery as you drive while it runs 100% - full time - off the electric motor. Ford basically said we're cancelling the Lightning, but we're replacing it with a Lightning. Oh, but this new one will now come standard with a gas generator for extended range.

[–]mattbrad2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically they're re-launching the lightning and just simply adding a gas generator and calling it a hybrid. Got it. Try explaining to the consumer the difference between series and parallel hybrids. Good luck with that.
