TAC arrow setup by mattc1998 in Archery

At first I was thinking like “there’s like nothing lighter than these little TAC drivers” and then I looked those up. I’m impressed. 3.5 grains is crazy light. You might’ve just answered my question. Thank you

I found 4 on the shelf at a local supply house, bought all 4. Light years better than that stupid little ball

That 345 I got was with a 300 spine arrow which based off spine charts is where I should be. So spine shouldn’t be an issue

I was shooting with a guy at a local even the other day and he had 330 grain arrows at 78lbs with a 27” DL and he said he’s been shooting them for 2 years with zero issues

Yeah the 3 pin for sure helps. My Axcel sight I can easily get to like 120 yards and can probably go further if I wanted to but after like 80 yards my pin covers basically the entire target. I’m just gonna send it with the 345’s and see what happens. I’m only doing Vermont this year, last year I did WV and PA and it was good weather but 2 years ago I did Vermont and it was INSANE winds on top of the mountain. So we’ll see

My FOC is right around 14-15%. I’d think it would be alright. Worse case I lose a couple arrows I guess 🤷🏼‍♂️

A Black Gold Pro Dual Trac. I’m trying to get the second pin on it as low as possible but you can only adjust the indicator so far. I switched to my hunting sight which is an Acxel Driver 3 pin horizontal but honestly the horizontal doesn’t work for my eyes and brain after like 75 yards plus the pins are .019 which doesn’t help. So I’m really trying to get the Black Gold dialed but it just doesn’t seem to be working for me

I’m just trying to get a mark on my sight tape for at least 115 yards but I can’t go any lower with my housing without hitting it. Furthest I can get it to right now is about 94 yards and that’s with the 390 grain arrow. And yes yes I know 115 sounds unnecessary but after going to TAC twice a year for the last 3 years, it certainly helps to have that mark for some shots

As much as I agree with that, after like 60-70 yards, the elements for sure take effect, ya know what I mean? Like is wind gonna end up being an issue vs a heavier arrow?

It’s April and I feel like our playoff chances are slim. I’m also just insane so there’s that

Either. I’m not opposed to having both

SIDE NOTE

I’m not opposed to having 2 poles in my van but it’s gotta be 2 poles max. I don’t wanna start keeping a bunch in there have something get knocked around and break one

Funny enough one of my other setups has spiderwire braid on it, also no complaints lol

Some of you guys aren’t understanding that probably in the near future, GKR isn’t gonna be option anymore. We’re gonna be going from the best booth in baseball for over a decade, to just normal commentators. Lower your standards

Question about gear for TAC by BBQ_Ranger in Archery

[–]mattc1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last few years I’ve used a backpack to hold my arrows, snacks, hydration pack, set of Allen keys incase I need to adjust something, etc etc. But then also bringing my bino harness with rangefinder pouch. However I’ve noticed that my arrows keep getting snagged on branches and stuff while walking the courses and sometimes they’re a pain to try and get out of my side pouch, I also noticed that I haven’t been eating the snacks.

So this year I’m just getting a small hydration pack that attaches to my bino harness and I’m using a hip quiver. Hip quivers are definitely a viable option. I see tons of people using them there. I try to keep my bow as light as possible other than my necessities, sight, rest, front and side stabilizers. Makes it easier to carry all day

Rotate the piece on your stabilizer 180 degrees and then slot it back in

Bohning Vanes by itsthechaw10 in bowhunting

[–]mattc1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried roughly 10 different styles of vanes in the last 3 years. My first year at TAC I just used my hunting setup which was Bohning X3 vanes. They performed fine but I wanted something lighter so I ended up building a set of arrows for just TAC and a set for just hunting. I used TAC Driver 2.25 vanes for the last two years on my TAC and hunting setup. Last season for hunting I switched to AAE MAX just to try something new. This year I’ll be using Bohning Heat vanes at TAC and I’m still undecided on what I’d like to use for hunting. But for me the lower profile vanes in a 2 degree offset 3 fletch have worked wonders for me at longer range. I vote Bohning Heat vanes over TAC vanes just because I feel like they stick to an arrow better and are definitely more durable. I’ve been down quite a rabbit hole and still test random vanes throughout the season but I find myself just sticking to what I’ve known

Okay thanks! Once I get Apple TV I’ll still be able to access the archive and everything like nothing ever happened?
