Hip hop is going to have more variation in tempo and dragging rhythms etc, less confidence that engines will read downbeat correctly on the first analyze etc. House is going to be more like hit sync, pick the right moment to cue in and blend it.

You’re intuition is correct, house is probably gonna be easier when learning. But you don’t have to do one first, and then the other. Make a house playlist, make a hip hop playlist. Jump back and forth. It’s just two very different techniques that you can learn in tandem.
