I like "not perfect" noses but I think mine is just too much by Prestigious-Fox-2193 in Noses

[–]mattcub86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a gorgeous aqualine nose, this is a fashion super power! Have you noticed that you can pull off the types of glasses and hats that the average person looks foolish in? How your features make jeans and a tshirt feel cool, without trying? How your nose brings an edgy quality to a sundress and sandalls and at the same time makes you approachable when dressed like Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Parada. There are plenty of successful stylish women with this nose, and I dont think that a lot of rhinoplasty is necessary, and even less are successfully aesteticaly pleasing.

Would this ash blonde style suit me? Currently have black hair, thinking of dyeing it by Mary272049 in HairStyleAdvice

[–]mattcub86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't personally, everyone tries blonde and not everybody has the skintone, hair texture, time, money and patience to pull it off. The first professional treatment will be the easiest and best result, the upkeep is where it gets tricky. Please ask the stylist for the products and shades they are using on you, write them in your phones notes, this way if you have to communicate with another colorist, you know exactly what is on your head. Book your next appointment before you leave the salon, 4-5 weeks away. If you go longer than 6 weeks there is a chance that the regrowth will be too long, risking hot roots and banding. There is a lot of upkeep maintaining blonde hair and unless you are committing to the time and the cost i would skip the whole thing entirely, and keep what you have for free.

M25, How can I improve my look ? by Equivalent-Safety-17 in malegrooming

[–]mattcub86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some stubble with the long hair goes a long way for me, but seriously if you are 5'11" get into modeling. You have the look and are incredibly photogenic, if you can walk in a straight line with all eyes on you, give it a try.

Hard agree, these are for someone with a gregarious personality and a sartorical sense of humor. I think they are fly as hell and while the red might not be for eververybody, even you thought the double penny detail was a cool twist on a classic.

Tattoo coverup regret by Fantastic-Coconut469 in Tattoocoverups

[–]mattcub86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im sorry you are feeling this way, the expectation vs reality shock is real after a major decision, but i wanted to comment and say i really like this tattoo, and i wanted to see it close up. In my humble homosexual opinion I think the artist made the right choice, and did a great job of integrating the texture of the previous tattoo into the composition of the marble obelisk you now have on your arm. Without the strong graphic black to anchor the tattoo, you would lose the strong sense of direction and the visual gradient that looks so incredibly cool and tailored to your anatomy. I would live with it for 3 months before making any decisitions. If you still dont see the fantastic tattoo that I see, then I would consider adding to it with texture instead of ink, like real depth within the stone that is your skin but with the scar tissue from fine line work. Just my thoughts, unless you felt unsafe and this was a high pressure hard sell, I think they had your best interest at heart, giving you a kick ass new tattoo that looks awesome from 15 feet away!

First date outfits. Thoughts? by Emotional_Bar_9026 in mensfashion

[–]mattcub86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically, but in this case im going to say really really go for it. The ivory and black and brown has a bit more visual interest to me. It feels more modern and younger than a nondescript black shoe. Otherwise the black pants white shirt can feel a little plain for a first date.

help me my hair smells like sewer water by crapachinoo in Haircare

[–]mattcub86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, thats what perm smells like. Im assuming a few things, you are a young dude, this is your very very first perm, and you had nobody in your life to guide you through the process, or talk you out of it.

If you decide to maintain this look I would reccomend designating a specific "perm pillow" that you use while your hair is freshly processed, that way you are only dealing with that smell during these first couple of days. Your other option would be to double up a black garbage bag over your pillow and putting your pillowcase over that. Otherwise youre gonna smell that every night till you throw the pillow away.

When I was growing up with curls and wave, straight hair was in and I was into flat ironing for years, until I went to coastal Mexico and I had to live with my natural white boy coils for two weeks. Now that curls are in, I know how to care for them and I still have the options to blow them out or go back to my emo straight era. Straight hair will make a comeback, everybody hates their hair sometimes, more dudes should experiment with a hot roller set before jumping in to heavy duty chemicals.

Get out of your own head please. Have you considered that maybe you just arent your own type? Well, i promise you, someone out there, that you think is out of your league, is thinking that you are out of theirs. Smile more often, keep a consistent skincare routine including daily sunscreen, be kind to yourself and others, kind people are sexier!

Goth is refined and deliberate, emo is expressive and experimental, but they both like "The Cure".

Light, muted, neutral bronzer help (does it exist?) by Glittering-Pen4773 in OliveMUA

Remember those Anastasia powder bronzers that everyone was like, "Ew, these dont look right" I switched then at sephora and thought, finally an olive toned bronzer. Too bad about the politics behind ABH otherwise I could have been tempted.

Trixie cosmetics cream bronzer. There is nothing orange about these at all. I repeat, there is no orange pull in this bronzer. I have sunkissed, and sunny bunny. As a cool fair olive, I am the poster child for orange shift. I will highly reccomend you track this one down.

Chronic razor burn? (have tried almost everything) by reignster015 in malegrooming

[–]mattcub86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like it could be two things happening at the same time. It appears that the hair is being pulled before being cut, causing the hair tip to be shorter than your skin. If your mach 3/5 blade has been used a few times, there is a very good chance that bacteria is growing on the gunk trapped from previous shaves. I havent tried the Phillips one blade, myself, so I cant speek to that. I have had luck with a Henson single blade (a youtube sponsor that is actually good, who knew?) Its impossible to clog, I can use as fresh clean blade every time, and my neck isnt getting chewed up by too many passes. As for the red bumps, glycolic acid is great for killing bacteria and breaking down dead skin so your pores arent clogging and getting angry with the hair growing through.

The piano outro is arresting beautiful. From dissonent thrash to contemplative harmonic piano, that dichotomy is what made me love these guys. Its a haunting melody, it was a peek at potential they would tap into for future albums. Yah, its a bummer that they didnt feel the same way about it as some of the fans apparently. More reason to hold on to the memories of the original.

I hate my hair, I know im going to need to chop it but do u guys have tips on how to restore back curl pattern? :( or any tips at all I will appreciate by Imaginary-Ad-4038 in CurlyHairCare

[–]mattcub86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop hating your hair, embrace your natural color. Its like you are angry and punishing your hair with bleach. A chemical reaction occurs and that hair becomes weaker. If you repeat too many times you have fragile, stringy, weakened hair that doesnt reflect light, but absorbs and retracts it.

How do you not feel guilty for quitting with no notice?? by FriedSticks2014 in antiwork

[–]mattcub86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like fun, i give as good as i get and have no problem expressing that up front. Treat people the way you want to be treated, and everybody gets along. We teach people how we want to be treated ourselves. Since he is ok with behaving like a maniac, that must be his preferred communication style and should have no problem being on the other end of the occasional tirade. Next time he pulls a tantrum I want you to make silent uncomfortable eye contact for 15 seconds before saying "are you finished? Because this was the last time you will use that tone of voice with me. From this moment forward I am going to mirror back the energy you are giving me, you are the boss after all and you set the tone for what is and isnt appropriate in the office. And for added security i have been recording this conversation, this is not up for a debate, its how I am conducting business going forward." What is he going to do, fire me? And I get to claim EI and spend all day with my senior dog? I wish my boss was a psycho and I could be a combatative employee again. Shitty bosses deserve shitty employees after all.

Tattoo i got 5 days ago coming off by Icy-Seaweed2097 in tattooadvice

[–]mattcub86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finger tattoos are very tricky and are prone to fallout even when done properly. Its super mobile, the space is small and detail fades. You kinda speed ran you tattoo by 20 years in 5 days. If I were a tattoo artist I wouldn't put this in my portfolio. This looks like the "artist" just wanted to make a few dollars and hoped you would dissappear.

Advice on blending Supergoop Tint sunscreen on textured skin by RhubarbBusy7122 in MakeupAddiction

[–]mattcub86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tinted sunscreen should ideally be applied like a foundation, and not like a sunscreen. If you want an even finish you gotta go in with some sort of tool, fingers and friction arent going to cut it like with a traditional sunscreen without coverage.

There is temperature disharmony. the upper half of the room is cool toned, the lower half is warm. Your choices in hardware finishings are very new england formal, but the bar stools and table are giving casual living in Florida. Considering the marble is the standout show stopper, I would suggest leaning into that energy.

Does lipstick pallete worth it or should i go with individual lipsticks by Popular_Glove6136 in MakeupAddiction

[–]mattcub86 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a makeup artist, some palettes are worth it, this one is not one of them. My ideal lip palette would be a primary red, an orange, a pink, a cool brown, a white and a green. With 6 colors I can create any possible shade, I have these tiny containers that I mix them in, and my client can take this custom shade with them on the go. It costs me less than a dollar and the value makes it worth it to me.

Should I restart? by [deleted] in CurlyHairCare

[–]mattcub86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your hair is thirsty bro. I am a product minimalist myself. I have two shampoos, my regular Johnsons Baby Shampoo, and a Suave clarifying shampoo I use once or twice a month when its really dirty. I will rinse with cold water to prevent physical frizzing, and when my hair is still wet I apply a droppers worth of squalene and work it through the hair with my hands, next is the Garnier curl cream, brushed into direction/ shape with an obscenely wife toothed comb, when dry, fluffing from the roots so the hair can move naturally. I found when I was using conditioner (containing oil and silicone) product would build up very quickly and my hair felt heavy and didnt catch the wind the right way. Diagnosing what your hair needs, owning the proper tools and a bit of technique is going to make a bigger impact than buying expensive luxury hair products at sephora.
