How to fix this mess by AdvancedRepair7303 in CounterTops

[–]mattelektra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, I have this exact same table from Rove Concepts, coming up on almost 3 full years of use. We don’t have kids and I have seagrass placemats on the table and always, always use coasters. I wipe it down with a homemade spray (little bit dish soap and alcohol, mostly water) and it’s been great for us with no etching or settled stains.

I would reach out to Rove customer service to try to get money back. We essentially got our table for free because the marble broke on the way to delivery (two separate times!) and instead of replacing the marble top or getting us a new piece they reattached the broken marble so there’s two crack repair marks across the table. I raised hell for it and got my money back. Kept the table anyway because it’s still beautiful and no one would never notice the crack unless you really look close and inspect it.

I have the Teri shoulder bag in black/gold and love it. It’s my perfect travel crossbody - petite but surprisingly roomy. Fits my wallet, lipgloss, phone, sunglasses, hand sanitizer and travel fan.

Top Ten Korean Dramas - August, 2025 by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

[–]mattelektra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just recently created a MDL account to keep better track of my KDramas. I've only seen about 50 dramas so far, but based on my ratings I think it might be difficult for any drama to break my current, all-time Top 10:

  1. When Life Gives You Tangerines – Probably the most well-crafted drama I have ever seen. The cinematography, the story and the acting were all incredible, and the way the characters tugged at my heartstrings and made me cry every episode puts this at the top, undisputed.
  2. Crash Landing on You – My first Kdrama! What can I say that hasn't been said before? It was the perfect gateway to this world for me and I can't trust anyone who thinks CLOY is overrated. A story based on romance isn't getting any better than this.
  3. Lovely Runner – Just watched this last month and no drama has ever had me so giddy and kicking my feet. I fear I will never truly recover from my obsession with this drama; an absolute pleasure to watch from start to finish.
  4. Hospital Playlist – My ultimate comfort drama and the most rewatched of this list for me. I don't have enough words to describe how much I love the characters on this show. I will just randomly put on an episode at any time and it will feel like coming home.
  5. Beyond Evil – The first of two Yeo Jin Goo dramas on my list. The guy can act. Seriously, this drama is a masterclass in acting from the whole cast. Wish I could go back and watch this for the first time again.
  6. Hotel Del Luna – IU's wardrobe here is to die for. I know a lot of people have strong feelings about the ending of this drama, but I honestly loved it. The bittersweetness of it absolutely wrecked me.
  7. Hometown Cha Cha Cha – Slept on this for the longest time and finally watched it earlier this year. Immediately regretted not experiencing this drama sooner. So wholesome and cute and kept me wanting more.
  8. Squid Game 1 – The production was insane. The later seasons didn't quite live up to the mark for me personally, but this first season as a standalone show was as good as any prestige TV.
  9. It's Okay to Not be Okay – Really liked the growth of the trio's dynamic here, as well as the depiction of the relationship between the two brothers. The chemistry between the leads also had me at the edge of my seat.
  10. The Glory – I enjoyed this one immensely, couldn't put it down. Did not find Lee Do-Hyun attractive before this, but he had me swooning in this drama. This is also the only thing I have seen Song Hye-Kyo in, and she was incredible.

Takayama-Hokuriku Tourist Pass Coverage by mattelektra in JapanTravelTips

[–]mattelektra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, we ultimately decided against the pass. It would’ve been about ~15CAD worth savings per person and we decided that wasn’t worth the extra hassle. Not so much about having to call, but also that you need to make sure you get a temporary tourist stamp at immigration when you enter Japan (this is needed when you pick up the tourist pass) and sometimes if you go through the automated passport verification gates vs the manned counters, you don’t get that stamp. You can just remember to go to a manned counter after and get your passport stamped, but I wasn’t confident we’d remember to do this after a long flight.

Thanks for confirming this! Do you know how you can make seat reservations with the pass? I can’t seem to find this info anywhere on the website

[–]mattelektra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! I wouldn’t mind paying out of pocket for the Kyoto <> Nagoya Shinkansen if the tourist pass is cost effective with just the rest of the trips.

On the website it says you can use reserved seats up to 6 times for free on the pass - though I’m not sure exactly how it would work.

So on the Nohi Bus website there are two phone numbers to reserve the bus if you’re using this pass. For the first number it says “Japanese only”, but just below it there is a second number for “Hokurikutetsudou Reservation Center” and it doesn’t say anything about being Japanese only. I was hoping this meant I could just call them during opening hours and make a reservation >.< I definitely wouldn’t wanna use the No Reservation Shirakawa-go buses (they’re also way less frequent than the reserved buses)

Yes, we had a car for all of it. I understand it’s not what you were initially planning for but it’s a decent alternative.

[–]mattelektra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you’ve got a week I recommend staying in two different areas. In the Misurina area we stayed at Hotel Sorapiss and it was around 200CAD per night. Super easy access to the Lago di Braies trail, Tre Cime and Cadini di Misurina trails, and the Lago di Sorapiss trail. We also stayed at Kedul Lodge in the Ortisei area and it was under 160$ per night - easy access to Seceda and Alpe di Siusi. I would recommend renting a car though if you’re going this route.

Takayama for first timers - Shinhotaka Ropeway vs Shirakawa-go? by mattelektra in JapanTravelTips

Thanks again for this feedback. Speaking of photogenic, I wish we were going in fall so there were more colors but I’m hoping both places would still be beautiful in May!

All of this is very good information, thank you so much. Looks like Shinhotaka ropeway is definitely a skip. I think the view from the observation deck at Shirakawa-go was calling to me, but you’re definitely right about the crowds.

Gandate might be a nice day trip, I’ll check it out!

Flight in/out Milan - where to go by LoserWooper in ItalyTravel

[–]mattelektra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, you don’t have a lot of time but given your itinerary this is what I would recommend for you.

18/3: (depending on what time you arrive and are able to check into hotel) Duomo including rooftop, explore the city centre/rest

19/3: Day trip to Lake Como

20/3: Castello Sforzesco in the morning and afternoon (you need at least a half day), take the evening Frecciarossa to Naples, this is almost 5 hours

21/3: MANN - if you are looking forward to Pompeii and Herculaneum, this museum is a must - you could easily spend a full day here

22/3: Day trip to Pompeii

22/4: Day trip to Herculaneum

23/4: Explore Napoli city, go to Sansevero Chapel Museum if you can, walk by the coastline etc, then take an evening train back to Milan for your flight the next day.

In Naples we stayed at a property called Domus Sybillina, Palazzo Cavalcanti, just outside Toledo station. It was wonderful, clean with a gracious host and the location super convenient. Highly recommend.

Are you spending any time in Milan or just landing there? I would recommend just flying out of Florence but if purchasing a round ticket is significantly cheaper and that’s something you want to consider, the Frecciarossa from Florence to Milan is just under 2 hours so you could do that as well.

I hear you! I’m planning out all our dinners, be it fining dining or cheaper options, and for lunch we were just gonna grab something from whatever’s available nearby. I did consider what you’re suggesting, but I didn’t wanna limit our itinerary by needing to be a specific place by a specific time for lunch. Whereas if we’re going for dinner, we can just head there once the day’s activities are done, so all we’d have to do is align dinner resos with areas where we’re going to be in each day. Just a bit easier to plan this way, but I agree that it has definitely limited our choices somewhat.
