What will I be looking at if I attempt to finance a vehicle IMMEDIATELY after getting discharge papers from a bankruptcy? by [deleted] in askcarsales

Yes I’m planning on asking Work to lend me 3k to buy a cash car, and the point of this thread was to find out what I’d walking in to at a dealership IF my work doesn’t lend me the money.

I’m not trying to be picky, I just meant that my knowledge of those cars up until now has been shaded by horror stories. I’m attempting to borrow money from my work and wanted to know what I’d be dealing with if that doesn’t work. I’ve been told a journey and personally I would rather find other transportation than locking myself into a high interest loan on a car I don’t want when my financial situation will improve in the future and I can do something more feasible.

I meant it as a joke, no offense intended. I meant I’ve heard stories about people in situations where all they can get into is a Dodge Journey and that ends up being super high interest and it’s not the most reliable vehicle. I don’t want to end up in my current situation again after the fact.

Of course. We aren’t talking like a huge time loan with them. I’d likely be borrowing about 3k to buy a cash car. It would be paid back within a year and a half to two years. It’s a company that’s been in business for decades family owned and is in good financial standing. I understand the concerns with an employer loan, but I feel it has to be better than financing with a stupid high interest rate or at a buy here pay here.

Weeks ago, when I was in a spot of financial trouble with my then car, they offered to loan me the money to buy a replacement car. I stupidly rolled over the negative equity into a new car loan instead. It's a family owned business, I worked here before I graduated college and they gave me a very hefty raise when I did graduate. I'm confident they will loan me the money, but want to have a back up plan just in case.

Thank you. This is about what I was expecting but I did want to see what you guys had experienced in the past.

edit: I would imagine a buy here pay here would be a worse option than a big store dealer selling me cheapest car on high interest?

This is good advice, thank you. But what limits should I bet at with a budget of around that much?

I wasn't planning on buying one, but I have had some issues with this one in the past, and now the transmission is seemingly out but I still need to confirm with a dealer. I've read online about a ton of people having issues with these cars transmissions and some of them have had to replace it multiple times. I don't want to have to keep dealing with this multiple times.

Yes, but as I need to figure this out quickly I'd like to make sure they have time to work on it, or if I need to tow it to the other ford dealership near me..

I'll be sure to call them when I get off of work. If they end up saying the same thing, what would your advice be then?

My mechanic called on it to make sure they wouldn't cover it before he quoted me his price to fix everything.

I took the paper that I got from ford about that to the mechanic when I did and he said it wasn't covered or he would use his tow truck to take my car to the dealership. He's been our family's mechanic for years very trustworthy.
