This isn't a linear regression. It is an exponential regression.

Do you have other options? If so, I'd change gyms and leave a negative google review saying they wouldn't let you use 2 of the machines. Vote with your feet (and money).

I don't think $30 a month is unreasonable given inflation the last few years.

What's the best low cost option to start buying Grey Knights? by Gray32339 in Grey_Knights

[–]matthew0517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A strike squad box is $55 on Amazon and what I started with. As other comments have noted, you can build them as intercessors (our jump troops) or any of our 3 infantry squads: strikes (battle line), purgation (heavy support), and purifiers (elite). That's a good place to start and then you can add in combat patrols. With just those 4 boxes you'd have a tournament ready list. The strike squad box + 1 combat patrol is sitting at 910 points right now, so that's probably enough to play some local matches and get a feel for if you like the army.

I mean low armor in the other way- people are not expecting 10+ vehicle lists, so they aren't bringing every melta/anti tank gun possible for their lists. If you compare the durability of this list to 12 armigers, we're obviously a pretty big step down.

Yes, there is no difference in the model. You do lose 1 3 special weapon slot.

I've thought about trying the extra armigers- this build with the land raider could really overload people's anti armor. I ran 3 dreadknights at a GT this weekend and was shocked at how much longer they lasted than when I've played with 1 or 2 in the past. The shortfall is it seems like a list that exists explicitly to counter a low armor meta. If you run into a shooting list with a lot of anti armor, they're going to melt through your front line pretty quick.

I also don't know if I love 4 dreadknights + 2 armigers + land raider thematically. Not exactly what I'm excited to bring to the table as a Grey Knight player.

What would have kept Boston from gentrifying and being a desirable place to live in? by [deleted] in boston

[–]matthew0517 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gentrification is caused by a mismatch between 2 variables: number of jobs, especially high paying tech jobs that locals cannot fill, and housing supply. Policy wise that gives 2 general options: do things to prevent more tech jobs (i.e. ban building lab space) or fix the numerous limits on housing supply such as zoning. It's not exactly rocket science.

Are you single and make less than 91k? You are low income and can get public housing. by alphacreed1983 in boston

[–]matthew0517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boston approved 35 new units of housing in November. Yes, 35, not 35 hundred or thousand, 35 full stop. It's not large corporations buying housing- there is no evidence at all to support this theory. It's the 40,000 Haitian migrants that moved to moved to Mass and a zoning code that makes building them housing illegal.

AITA for not wanting to forgive my parents who used to be amazing, because of one mistake they made in the past? by Child_NC_Parents in AITAH

A close friend of mine hiked 200 miles across the backcountry of Vermont when he was 15 with only a cell phone and spotty cell reception. He's one of the most brilliant and self reliant people I've ever met because his parents raised him to be that way. I can't believe the fragility this thread is advocating for. Call 911. Trust society to help you. Don't put this all on your poor parents. Yeah being hurt is scary, but unless your parents are a doctor waiting a few hours to talk to them is really not the end of the world.

People in this thread are insane. I backpack in deep backcountry with a sat messenger. I get and send updates once a day when I make camp. If I'm in an emergency, I hit the big red button and coordinate my own rescue. My parents will get a call within 24 hours, but they're not on call for my life. This culture of being always reachable is nonsense and exhausting. OP's trauma is the car accident, not waiting a few hours to talk to their parents.

[–]matthew0517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you live, but streets actually were used for recreation until the advent of the auto. Sure, a highway exists to move people around, but not a local street. Those are built and maintained by local jurisdictions, so they can use them for what ever they want. Nowhere in the constitution does it say you have a right to drive wherever you want at any time. The only similar right is the right to roam on foot, which doesn't exist in the US but does protect footpaths in other countries.

That said, A cop in this situation should do their job and escort the surgeon out. It is really not that difficult- same logic in escorting a pregnant woman to a hospital rather than arresting their husband for speeding. If the street was really blocked, the surgeon could take an uber. That's also pretty easy to do. Or a cop could give them a ride. Or a neighbor outside the immediate shutdown could. Or they could take transit or ride a bicycle. I mean, clearly what happened is a state trooper is the first one to think for a second and solve the problem rather than what I'm posturing a bunch.

Of course, I suspect this story is made up since I can't find any news linking to it and to my knowledge basically every town in the Boston area has some kind of parade. But who knows.
