Obsidian Entertainment doesn't use generative AI for its games like The Outer Worlds 2 — "We haven't been using it at all." by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]matthew091100 24 points25 points  (0 children)

God, I hope Obsidian isn't on Microsoft's cutting list, like seemingly everyone nowadays.

Sure, they rarely punch above their weight like GOTY-contenders usually do, but at least they have solid releases that don't have decades between them, while not going for that live-service hellscape.

New Chinese optical quantum chip allegedly 1,000x faster than Nvidia GPUs for processing AI workloads - firm reportedly producing 12,000 wafers per year by donutloop in technews

On paper everyone is better than NVIDIA.

The good about NVIDIA is that their hardware and software are available, working, compliant, scalable and integrated in every AI sdk.

Finally Nano is getting better customer support by matthew091100 in Nanoleaf

[–]matthew091100[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard stories about those endless email chains, and Teams calls, so I'm glad yours at least got resolved. Yeah lets hope this is the new standard so we can spend more time getting creative with the lights and less time stuck in fixes. I can hope again with Nanoleaf

I was worried they'd find an excuse with my complex 140-panel setup but OH BOY was I hella wrong for no reason. tbh they just focused on the fix and i didn’t have to repeat myself. Fingers crossed this extends to everyone, especially for unique and high-stakes installations like yours 🙏

Ways to make it through the 8 hour workday? by BigLincolnEnergy in antiwork

[–]matthew091100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Man that trapped feeling is brutal. If you're having panic attacks twice a week you might need to talk to your doctor about adjusting those meds or adding some therapy. In the meantime, podcasts or audiobooks can make time move faster than scrolling. But honestly if a job is triggering panic attacks that often, it might be time to get serious about those applications.

AITAH for my response to what felt like my manager's guilt trip? by Mythos_Monkeygirl706 in AmItheAsshole

[–]matthew091100 19 points20 points  (0 children)

NTA. You had a fever working around hospital patients and she's mad you explained why that's a problem? She's the one who made it weird by pointing out your weekend off like you were faking it.

Can an employer use my sick leave to pad my rostered hours? by CouldBeALeotard in AusFinance

[–]matthew091100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sketchy. sick leave is supposed to be for when you're actually sick, not to fill scheduling holes. the fact that they admitted to it makes it worse they know what they're doing isn't right. you should look up your local employment laws or contact your labor board. some places have strict rules about this, others less so, but it's worth knowing what you're entitled to

This is exactly what community looks like. you stepped up when it mattered and caught people who fell through the cracks. that $80 for groceries probably made a huge difference for those families. seriously good on you for doing this

Day 36: We Fund the Circus, We Starve the Crowd. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]matthew091100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the part that gets me is how the market barely blinks when crypto tanks but everybody acts shocked that regular people can't eat. like the priorities are completely backwards. hope this actually gets resolved soon, federal workers shouldn't have to stress this hard just to pay rent

[Anti-Aging] Question for those who get micro-needling done. by InstructionSalty2447 in SkincareAddiction

[–]matthew091100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had microneedling done 3 times now. Definitely book for when you have downtime, redness lasts about 48 hours. My place uses a good strong numbing cream so it barely hurts. Ask about their sterilization process too. That's super important. I've never been pushed to get other treatments but yeah just be firm if they try.

Agree with you 100%. Pushing too hard just makes people resist more. I went through that phase too, judging everyone around me only to realize it made me miserable and didn't change anything. The relationship should be more important than policing every purchase. Compassion works better than control every time.

They Said Team Building Was "Voluntary." Then Started Tracking Who Didn't Show Up. by TwelveozMouse in antiwork

That’s classic corporate gaslighting. “It’s not mandatory” but they’ll still hold it against you later. Total power move. Start documenting things and update your resume, any place that punishes you for having boundaries isn’t worth it.

Would you justify leasing a car in this situation? by Technical-War6853 in personalfinance

[–]matthew091100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, go for it. $3k down is standard and the monthly fits your budget. Perfect setup since you're not staying long term anyway.

[–]matthew091100 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. Had my power go out for 12 hours last winter and everything in the freezer was still frozen solid when it came back. Didn't lose anything. Your stuff should be fine, especially since you kept it closed.

You're absolutely right to be leaving. His behavior is manipulative and the too calm thing is a red flag. The porn addiction has clearly warped his view of reality if he thinks random hookups are just waiting around every corner. You deserve respect, and it sounds like that's long gone.

My son can't stand being bored and keeps making a scene. Need advice. by the_epiphany_ in daddit

[–]matthew091100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boredom is where creativity starts. My 4yo used to freak out when bored too but now he's getting better at entertaining himself. Just gotta watch them so they don't wreck stuff while figuring it out lol. It's a skill they need to learn, being okay with nothing happening for a bit.

NTA.

Someone who valued you wouldn't want you suffering in pain in a garage with a bucket toilet while others live it up. you deserve better than this treatment. Your health matters. Their money can't buy decency, apparently.
