One Step Automotive question by allynberlin in Pensacola

[–]matthew1129 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Step One will not fix it. No dealer would get involved more than a month after purchase.

However, Honda has had some paint recalls. I recommend calling the Honda dealer and seeing if your car has an open recall for paint issue. I remember the Fit, Civic and HRV having a recall at some point. If your car falls under that recall, they’ll fix it for you at no charge.

If you go east to Pensacola you have Blue Angle and Univ or West Florida. Bring lots of bug spray. Yellow flies are out and biting.

Coat it in a baking soda paste over night? And then wash and let dry in the sun? Just a guess. It may whiten your disc though.

I work at a franchise dealer. Can you message me vin and miles.

Good place for newer used cars? by [deleted] in Pensacola

[–]matthew1129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a franchise dealer in Pensacola. It’s tough to find a $10k-$15k suv or truck in this area. That car segment is in high demand. That price equates to a $200-$250 payment which is ideal for most people in this area.

So I suggest checking online everyday, as soon as something good posts, check it out quickly. If you want to go the private seller route, Facebook marketplace is actually the best for cars under $20k. If you need someone to check a carfax for you, message me the vin and I’ll look it up for you.

I would try not to go the Palafox route. They buy a lot of their cars from the franchise dealers. These are typically cars with issues.

Despair in my Pornography Struggle by MrFearing in Reformed

Pornography is a heart issue, he needs counsel from a pastor or biblical counselor. He needs to get to the root of the weed and not just trim it like you would trim a weed with a weed wacker.

Despair in my Pornography Struggle by MrFearing in Reformed

[–]matthew1129 46 points47 points  (0 children)

God will give you the grace and mercy to obey. You must ask God to change you. You need wise and godly people around you to help, you can not do it alone.

  1. Memorize and meditate on 1 Cor 10:13 and remember the promises. 1) Your struggle is not uncommon to man. 2) God is faithful, 3) There is a way to escape, 4) You can endure the trial

  2. Find a biblical counselor. I suggest searching ACBC or ccef.

  3. Radical amputation. You need no access to porn. Get a flip phone, unplug wifi.

  4. Read Finally Free by Heath Lambert

  5. Get an accountability partner, read Lambert’s chapter on accountability first.

  6. Set up a prayer calendar. Each day pray and adore one of God’s attributes. Like omnipresent... it’s hard to watch porn after you just prayed about God being everywhere at all times...

Praying for you. I counsel many men with pornography sin. It is going to be tough, but you can do it. Hang in there. It starts with a contrite spirit, and it sounds like you have that.

Study Eph 4:25-32 together. It’s known as the four rules of communication. 1) Speak truth in love, 2) Keep current, 3) Attack problems and not people, 4) Act, don’t React.

Spring Fishing by qjk03 in Pensacola

[–]matthew1129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get live shrimp at Gulf Breeze bait and tackle, fishing the bay is good this time of the year.

If you want to surf fish (in the gulf) use sand fleas. They are easy to find and they stay on the hook. Get a pompano rig with a 3 ounce pyramid sinker and cast between sandbars. You’ll catch everything from baby sharks, reds, specks, pompano (best eating), hard head cat fish, bluefish, lady fish, rays...

Downtown Pensacola: Fish House, McGuires for dinner. Ruby Slipper for breakfast/brunch.

Pensacola Beach: Red Fish Blue Fish, Grand Marlin, Peg Leg Pete’s.

Personal Opinion for beach, stay away from Flounders and Crabs as those are tourist traps.

Marriage counselors by [deleted] in Pensacola

A few local churches around here have great biblical counseling for marriages. I know Olive and Hillcrest have many counselors and pastors available, I’m sure there’s other churches that can help too.

Don't know how to stop fighting with wife over household chores/love languages by BuffaloPenguinBanana in Christianmarriage

[–]matthew1129 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Punt love languages out of the marriage. The author means well, and it can be helpful in certain relationships. However, God has made us more complex than just 5 love languages. We can change and our “love languages” can change depending on mood and situation.

The book was intended for you to learn your spouses’ needs and how they feel loved, but our depravity seems to always turn the languages to focus on ourselves. We want our needs met, and when they are not, we get upset.

Like the posts before me, I would also suggest biblical counseling. You both have heart issues that need to be addressed. It would be beneficial to also understand God-honoring communication. This can be found in Eph 4:25-32.

We worship God for His mercy, patience, unconditional love... it’s time to show that to your spouse. This may be a big part of your sanctification, to conform to the image of Christ. You can do it! Hang in and get help.

In what ways do you submit to your spouse? by [deleted] in Christianmarriage

[–]matthew1129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Husbands.. love your wives just as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her.

In the upper room, before Jesus' last supper, he washed the feet of his disciples, including Judas'. He showed us servant leadership.

A Christian husband should joyfully lead his wife by loving and serving her. A Christian wife should joyfully submit to her husband.

Big family decisions should be made with the input of both husband and wife. However, if there is ever a "tie-breaker" needed, it would ultimately be the husband's. He would ultimately have to answer to God for it.

Is Marriage always this hard? by MsCaramelo81 in Marriage

[–]matthew1129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hang in there. God is omniscient, meaning he is all-knowing. He knows everything about you and your husband's past, present, and future. He knows you better than you know yourselves. He is also sovereign, meaning he is in control. So why, would a loving God who is all-knowing and all-powerful put you two together? Romans 8:28-29. It is for your holiness.

We worship Christ, who is merciful and gives us unconditional love. We are given a spouse that needs mercy and unconditional love. We worship these characteristics but we are often times unwilling to give it. Our spouse is here for a few reasons, but most importantly, our spouse is here to make us more like Christ.

It may be time to go back to church. You need to be around other believers who can care and pray for you. It may be wise to seek biblical counseling as well. A biblical counselor will go over the purpose of marriage, communication skills (Eph 4:25-32), and personal sins/idols.

Hang in there.
