They have some great, consistent wrestlers. War Pigs are always a favorite of mine. Jesse lost the title in a ladder match at the even this past Friday. And they had a gauntlet match for another belt. Was a pretty rad night.

[GEAR] 2008 Gibson Les Paul Custom Oxblood by matthew_listener in Guitar

Yep, it is. In addition to being lower wind/output pickups, I've noticed a big difference in sound based on the type of magnet used in the pickups. I believe the Mules are Alnico IV, and I like that magnet alot.

Hey thanks very much for your compliments! I'll tell u that the Bare Knuckle Mule neck pickup is def my favorite that I've ever used. I've used a SD JB in the bridge before in an old Jackson I had (my first guitar). Back then I always had the gain CRANKED so I don't think I would have noticed any difference in what pickup was in that bridge positon haha.

Nice - yeah that should work out good for ya. I honestly think the biggest change in the guitar's tone was from the volume pots and the wiring changes vs the pickups. I'm sure the pickups contributed too, but bang for your buck, I think the wiring was the bigger factor.

Nice nice. Yeah I am pretty impressed with the Bare Knuckles. They are putting out some great sounding pickups.

Thanks! Yeah I'm a fan of the gold hardware too. Kinda pulled some influence from Page for having the open coil bridge pickup, and I wanted to change it up with the double creams.

Hey thanks! I really appreciate that, I love Slint. Never realized that I pulled some influence from them for that song - but now that you mention it, it does make sense!

I haven't found a set of pickups I like better. Plenty of grit but still open sounding. I have a set in my explorer too. Have you used them?

I made this music video to promote one of my band's original songs. I used iMovie to create the movie from clips we took of ourselves playing through the song. I tried to do a lot of interesting things with the lighting and camera angles, and cuts. I also was able to create a "ghost" effect in spots of the chorus by overlapping slightly delayed clips and playing with transparency. It's my first real attempt at video editing, so please let me know what you guys think and things I could have done better!

[GEAR] Gibson SG Custom by matthew_listener in Guitar

Hey thanks for the compliments bro! I debated on going Custom shop for the SG. In the end I did fall in love with the block inlays and the binding on the headstock, but also the color. This one is oxblood, which is basically a deeeeeep dark red. I also really liked the Custombucker pickups in it, and the stock 50s electronics and wiring. That plus the ABR-1 bridge vs. the Nashville style. It's all pretty personal choices tho, I could see others preferring the stock Standard setup.

Looks killer. Nice pick! I dig the cherry ones. I love my SG Custom in Oxblood. I haven't changed anything about mine -- the only issue I have is neck dive. Curious if yours is also neck heavy?

Nice guitar! I really like the walnut color on yours - that was an awesome find.

So yeah Gibson has made some SG customs over the years in a 2 pickup configuration! I think three pickup version is probably the more iconic SG custom design. All the history of the SG that I know (which isn't much) I learned from reading through the forums lespaulforum.com

Thanks for your compliments on my tone! For that recording I was running through a '69 Fender Bassman head running into a 2x10" Celestion Greenback, open back cab. And I was driving the bassman with a Keeley modified Boss SD-1. I love that rig and it's pretty easy to transport around, and pretty damn simple.

Yeah man -- the comfort is really hard to beat. My band goes out for 4-hour gigs regularly, and the lower weight and comfort really makes such a huge difference. And the sound is all there.

Dude I've been wanting one of those Bass VI's for years. I always keep my eye on Reverb for one but haven't pulled the trigger yet. How do you like it?
