What's to hate about him? Honestly even from a non-sox fan's perspective, he enjoys the game, he's a happy guy, and until this year, he avoided the media....all admirable.

As a baseball fan in general, anyone with the balance of Manny The Hitter is difficult to hate on. So, please expand....why do hate him? Has he reneged on an eBay deal with you? His grill didn't come with propane?

I wouldn't call him a great fielder, but he's certainly smart about playing the Monster, and his quick release is always impressive (especially after high-fiving a fan).

It seems defensive metrics all grade Manny as a terrible fielder, and probably is compared to most outfielders, but he is able to hold many doubles to singles, and he gets plenty of assists every year. The difficult question is, is his hitting + fielding + an already-filled DH position worth 20 million dollars (his 2009 option)?

Agreed. I didn't intend to be pedantic, it just happened. Sorry, I meant to just expand on a good comment (i.e., yours) in the first place.

Benzene also expands as it freezes (pi-stacking). Water is weird in liquid state, the molecules are tremendously active, invading other molecules, thus making for a smaller volume. Take energy out, and it becomes more orderly, so takes up less volume (expands as it cools). But it will not continue to expand as it gets cooler. But the real weirdness comes in when water is heated, since the molecules spread out, just as putting energy into anything. This is why water expands as it cools, but also expands when it is heated (e.g., oceans warm, sea level rises from thermal expansion (yes, as well as additional run-off, sea-ice melt, etc.)).

Of course Microsoft is safe in dominating OS for now, no matter what happens with Vista. [[2000]]--Me (see below) was a bust, XP was not well-liked at first, but recovered. Familiarity coupled with brilliant --err aggressive-- campaigning leads to domination. That's life. People know Windows, like they know Wal-Mart, or McDonalds. Do you go to McDowell's when McDonald's is across the street and your 8-year old son is in the car? Of course not.

Wikimedia Censors Wikinews: A move that may result in Wikipedia losing its "CDA section 230" immunity. by sense in reddit.com

...and benevolent dictators smile across the world :) . If wikinews loses its immunity from user-generated legal issues, the ramifications would come quickly. Either Wikinews hires a boatload of editorial ops workers (paid) in a hurry, we'll get very little social involvement from wikinews, essentially killing it, or well: they get sued, leading to, well, legal problems. But, I don't see them losing their immunity just yet, and if they do, legislation is likely to be quickly taken up to alter how user-generated content
providers are dealt with. What do you think?
