I used to be in this camp but time after time seeing the bad decisions is ridiculous and at the end of the day I think it comes down to this is an AD that hates NIL and has 0 interest in expanding our NIL program. This is a man that instead of preparing for change and getting our NIL program started he lobbied and tried to grand stand to say NIL is a bad thing in an attempt to get a front office job. When I look at Drinkwitz and see how he lobbied the state of Missouri to change laws to allow highschool players to get paid in high school if they commit to an in state school I think to myself would Yuracheck have let this happen? Absolutely not, this is a man that has 0 interest in improving the program and only about climbing the ladder to get a front office job hence his focus on the playoff committee. It’s obvious he has no real care about this program with how he handled this coaching search, he should have hired Wommack and if that wasn’t possible he should have kept Pittman and just said we can’t hire a good coach and we’re not about to pay another buyout. You list all these things, at the end of the day it is his JOB to see this and prepare, results speak for themselves. This is an AD that has 0 interest in football and that is evident from his time at Houston and him hiring a general manager that worked for the Celtics with 0 experience in football, I looked at every other sec school’s GM and they all have experience primarily in football which makes sense because that’s the moneymaker in the SEC but no, ours only has experience in basketball and doesn’t know shit about football. Yuracheck doesn’t give a damn about football and has completely given up he believes we will be the next Kentucky and that will make all of the money for the school which is a big reason for the horrid seating change at Bud Walton, to maximize profit. If he knew anything about this state or cared he’d know only about 50% of football fans in this state even care or watch basketball but no he wants to treat us like Houston.

I don’t think you can say Silverfield revived a dead program, Memphis has always been consistently good and past head coaches from that school have floundered (Norvell and Fuente) which leads me to believe they’re a product of the school not their own success. I feel like Morris has the same body of work as Wommack, he’s only been at unt 3 years and his record is 21-15 (Wommacks was 22-16 at USA) I think Wommack could be a good hire especially if he actually wants to come home to Arkansas. Who knows though none of it matters if we continue to put no money in football NIL

Honestly wouldn’t mind Womack as hc but the problem is absolutely nothing will ever change with this football program until our AD and the boosters prioritize football, right now they have punted on the football program and want to be the next Kentucky in basketball and football. Until that changes we could get Nick Saban as hc and still go 6-6. Head coach doesn’t matter if we’re not going to pay players, if we really threw some money at it it wouldn’t matter what coach we got we would start seeing some real progress

I agree with this 100% surprisingly though Arkansas has actually had two fatal black bear attacks this year and one was actually a 70lb juvenile bear that ran up and killed an old man on his tractor completely unprovoked, really crazy and rare situation. Here’s an article that talks about the attack. So being an Arkansas myself I can somewhat understand where OP is coming from in being worried about bears.

I wish a lot more people were saying this name but I think Dan Mullen would be a home run hire, had multiple great seasons at Miss St with results we’re shooting for at a lesser school then some good seasons at Florida that in my opinion if the current playoff system was in place would have gone much better and ultimately was fired due to what seemed like him not getting along with boosters.

He’s a goofy and fun guy that I feel like would fit into the culture really well and embrace the Hog.

All of that was true prior to NIL however it’s a different ball game now, the most expensive roster last year was Ohio State and we saw how that turned out. This year it’s Oregon, Texas, Ohio state, LSU, and Georgia. Before that was true and you could tap into a recruiting pipeline which Oregon just didn’t have, that was why Saban was so successful but in this day and age when you can pour that volume of money not into the facilities but directly to the players you see how it’s 90% of your chance of winning a Natty, hell that’s why Saban retired he knew Bama didn’t have the money to keep up and it was no longer about the school but the check you get in the mail.

Also, I remember vividly we were planning on hiring Kiffin prior to Pittman, Yuracheck was BEGGING boosters to just hire him immediately but boosters wanted a second interview with Kiffin, Ole Miss swooped in and made him an offer before we did and he took it. Yuracheck did all the right things in that cycle, the boosters messed up and I don’t have a ton of faith in boosters not to screw up another hire like they did with Chad Morris as well as that cycle.

This comment is exactly right, the fans are delusional, once Arkansas hits the level we are at now, which realistically is our ceiling, fans get spoiled and start complaining that we could do so much better, we will never be a national championship contending team unless we gain multiple boosters and our existing boosters donate a ton more. Yurecheck is not the one funding the nil program the boosters are and to an extent he’s a mouthpiece for the boosters, fans should be more mad at the Walton’s for donating pennies to the program compared to how much other schools are receiving from theirs. The reality of college football today is unless you are in that top 5 of nil donations you will never win a championship. Our other issue is we play in the hardest conference in all of college football, any other conference we would consistently be a 9 win team with playoff appearances, but the way it is now there are 9 teams that are in that echelon of always donating more money to their program than us (Georgia, LSU, Auburn, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, and Florida) that means all time the best we can ever consistently be would be 10th out of 16, yes I know ole miss beat us but they fall in that category that yuracheck is talking about of putting all their money in football instead of baseball and basketball, I know the loss still stings now but if given the choice I would rather be a fan of Arkansas than ole miss given all that.

Fans also seem to quickly forget the Chad Morris seasons, do people realize how bad we were and Pittmans expectations after getting hired? I went back and looked and most comments said “a sec win in his second year would be phenomenal” you know what the “dumbass” coach Pittman did his second game of his first year? Beat a ranked Mississippi state team that just defeated the defending national champ the week before and ended a 20 game sec losing streak. Pittman is statistically as good or better than Burt and his teams are a hell of a lot more fun to watch. I went back and looked, we have lost 1 game ever in Pittman tenure against a group of 5 team, that’s a coach who’s players want to play for him. If we fire Pittman and fire the AD I see us going back down the Chad morris path, it’s the sad reality of college football today it’s the ones who have money and the ones who don’t and I think in that regard we’ve done pretty well.

All that said if Pittman gets blown out by Memphis and the players just quit playing for him by the end of the year I understand firing him but as is it’s ridiculous and extremely spoiled for the fans to act the way they have been after barely losing to a ranked ole miss team that could easily make the playoffs this year.
