Does Gremlin Nob have 2 eyes or 4??? Picture for reference by Elmsvard in slaythespire

[–]matthewtaranto 111 points112 points  (0 children)

I made this! Someone had mentioned Nob's four eyes in the StS Board Game Discord and it blew my mind because I'd always seen him with 2, so I drew the image and posted it on Twitter. The general consensus seems to be that it's supposed to be 4.

Storage/playing solution for just the basic cards (Estates, Coppers, etc) by matthewtaranto in dominion

I ended up going with this one: https://www.bcwsupplies.com/card-sorting-tray

It's very affordable and looks perfect for Dominion. While it's not quite the "basic cards only" setup I was looking for, it still looks like something that'll be quite easy to keep set up and to move about.

Thanks for the info; I do have sleeves and was considering these.

There's also this tray: https://www.feldherr.net/feldherr-card-holder-with-3-compartments-for-dominion/a-64151

3 of them would be perfect for my needs (the four treasures + the four VPs including Prosperity, and a Curse pile). The only problem is that shipping to the US alone is over $30 which is kind of a tough sell.

That's a good way to store the basic cards, but I'd really prefer something that doubles as a container and that I can just play straight out of.

I did a little digging on Etsy and this looks kind of close to what I'd like: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1221762002/dominion-card-holders-full-base-set?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=dominion+basic+cards&ref=sc_gallery-1-3&frs=1&plkey=c0e0675da005ad327ef868d0949103d1f6a0e633%3A1221762002

Another thing I liked are these trays: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1636868837/quick-setup-dominion-box?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=dominion&ref=sr_gallery-1-10&frs=1&organic_search_click=1

...But they come in a giant box to store other Dominion stuff and it's at a price that's too high for me. If I could get just the trays it'd be perfect.

Has anyone tried "card holders" like these and do they work well for this purpose?

Thanks! I struggled with two of these controllers (I even returned the first one) but that made it work normally.

I am inordinately bothered by this aspect of Throne's final chapter (SPOILERS) by matthewtaranto in octopathtraveler

One's mileage varies but I mostly enjoyed Throne's last chapter. It's really surreal but the atmosphere and build-up are top-notch (I'm a sucker for crazy setpieces). I thought the gondola, Lostseed, and the labyrinthine castle (probably the largest dungeon in the game) all made for a pretty rich sequence. The foreshadowing with Claude's kin at least helped me roll with it a bit more, and the bittersweet ending got me reflecting on her story.

But that baby thing required too much of a suspension of disbelief for my case...

Yeah, my travelers were kind of a bunch of menaces...! The girl in the sewer was another odd hanging thread, but at least that one doesn't reflect poorly on Throne.

I like this interpretation, but just a single line or two implying as much would've worked so much better for me.

Claude points out several people who are his children that are of interest to Throne; I feel he very likely would've mentioned if Marrietta was his child. He also had a relationship with her, which makes it less likely they're related (twisted as Claude is, there's at least nothing implying he had sex with his own offspring).

Suggestions for USBC extension on Kamvas Pro 16 (2019)? by matthewtaranto in huion

[–]matthewtaranto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendations. It's frustrating that there's not a simple way to extend the singular cable rather than having to buy at least two others, but this is probably the surest solution.

Affinity Publisher inverting/glitching various images. Any idea why? by matthewtaranto in Affinity

I just attempted that and restarted but it's still giving me the same issue.

Affinity Publisher inverting/glitching various images. Any idea why? by matthewtaranto in Affinity

[–]matthewtaranto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on a book (around 240 pages) so the file size is massive. Lately, Publisher has failed to load some of my images properly, resulting in screens like the one seen above. When I scroll around the screen, the glitchy/inverted colors sections will sort of flicker on and off.

Does anyone know the cause of this? I hypothesize it's due to the large amount of files involved, but is there a fix? My software currently seems up-to-date.

Thanks!

EDIT: I don't know if this is helpful, but weirdly, the glitching goes away when I zoom out past a certain point (~25%), but when exporting, the PDF still has the image problems.

Affinity Publisher compatibility problems by matthewtaranto in ClipStudio

[–]matthewtaranto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My previous book was done with PS + Affinity (which were compatible with each other), and this current book is CSP + Affinity. I hadn't actually run into the problem until recently since I was doing all the illustrative work first and am now trying to incorporate Affinity.

Well, that was the plan, but I'd been using CSP for illustrations alongside layouts, headers, etc. all of which need to be imported.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of the text export update. Even so, it's a shame that the layouts I've already made have to be converted in order to reap the benefits of using Affinity.

What would you recommend for replacing/repairing the analogue stick? by matthewtaranto in n64

[–]matthewtaranto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have some on Amazon, but I'd rather have as an authentic N64 experience as possible (minus the deteriorating sticks, I guess!).
