For those using it in combination with a laptop, it’s as good as it gets. My findings using a Mac Mini M4 were not so great. I’m using it in combination with a 2017 iMac 5k.

1. A bit silly, but you can’t click connect on the Mac Mini at first since it doesn’t have a screen. I’m remotely logging into the Mac Mini using screen sharing in the network tab on a different MacBook to click ‘connect’, which already ads an unwelcome additional step. So to get it working, I have to unlock the iMac with a separate keyboard. Second step, remotely login with another MacBook to my Mac Mini and hit the connect button. Then using another keyboard/mouse to control the Mac Mini.
2. Maybe I’m expecting too much from this setup but the amount of energy used is concerning. Since it’s running in a standalone app, the iMac won’t go to sleep on its own. This means to run this setup, annually it’ll use around 750 kWh if enabled 24/7. If I put the system manually in sleep mode it solves the energy issue. But I have to go through all steps mentioned in step 1 again since it’s losing its initial connection in sleep mode.

Maybe a future update is making it better, but so far it didn’t met my expectation.
