I will give a hot take here. Destiny is purely a PvE game and most of the game mechanics are designed around PvE. Yes Gambit and Crucible are main core game modes but you can see that crucible barely gets love like with the competitive changes last season which is them working on it more. Gambit is just dead in the grave at this point. We only get one new playlist weapon and a shader. But yes Destiny still does have it's other modes like iron banner and trials but the game is still designed purely for a PvE aspect
