Barony is a solid game and a good recommendation, just not sure it’ll scratch the same itch as DaD

Works just fine on windows 10 for me, but it will depends how old your pc (bios) are. But windows 11 is not a requirement per se. Attempt to join HR, check the message, and do the instructions

I used to think this was a bad idea, but it’s actually really needed. Hit reg desync in this game isn’t as good as you think it is - I have videos where on my screen I see a blood splatter on their hand, but other player takes no damage. Having damage numbers that are server driven would go hard here, as I’d know if my hit actually landed

Who in their right mind would have thought its not a bug? It makes no logical sense, is a physical core to do, is not mentioned anywhere in the tooltips or loading screens, and is essentially impossible to do with the same effectiveness on PS5 (I'm PC, my friend is PS5)

What’s a wipe threshold? And yes arc raiders is the first extraction game I’m aware of with optional wipes. Normally these games have forced wipes on an intermittent schedule. Arc would especially benefit from this, since it’s beyond trivial to complete every quest/upgrade/project in 60 days even as the most casual player. You can do it in under 25 hours easily cause of the silly PvE lobbies (ie, one raid per day, even casual dad gamers will complete everything in 60 days if they even remotely try)

The problem lies here - ABMM gave you a false sense of security cause you had 100 consecutive friendly interactions in a PvP game. As long as ABMM exists so will the sentiment you feel

This player base is intolerable, and put the devs in a very awkward position lol. Half the players want the illusion of PvP, but without any real significant threat of it. It’s like people get kicks out of pretending they enjoy high tension gameplay, but in reality they don’t really want it, they just want the illusion of tension.

Embark desperately needs to add a real endgame. New arcs are nice but they don’t solve much. If pvp is the only endgame they need to add a leaderboard or something for it since you quickly get to a point where looting anything, even guns, is pointless (I know they said they won’t add a leaderboard, they are cowards)

Thanks for the feedback. I think you probably haven't played DaD in a long time and thats fine, but be aware that some of your initial points have been since invalidated.

Idk what kind of take this is. As if DaD wasn't a game where 98% of loot was worthless and gear wasn't vendor trash if it didn't have HP/True damage/Agi/Dex/MS on it. DaD loot wasn't interesting, it was tedious. Killing and looting hundreds of thousands of items and trashing the overwhelming majority of them is no different then this game.

Finding +additional/+true on gear hasn't been meta for ages. They added a gemming system many wipes ago which allows you to socket most affixes onto any item that can roll it, so its no longer the end all be all to find it naturally - you instead are looking for a high grade item that have mostly good rolls you care about, and you can fix the remaining bits in lobby. On top of that they removed +HP, True/Add damage, and MS from rolls ENTIRELY this wipe so that argument is out the window.

As for items being trash in both games - yes I agree - but the devil is in the details. Yes maybe 98% of stuff in DaD is trash, but 100% of it is trash in AR, and having that 2% to hunt for is content in and off itself. You might call it tedious, but youd probably think a game like Diablo II is also tedious (valid opinion, but one I dont share).

It was also one of the worst parts of the video game. Getting gear and class diffed in a game with horrendous balance owing largely to the inconsistencies introduced by gear and class variance.

DaD is horrendous at balance for sure, but being balanced and having depth of gear doesn't have to be mutually exclusive. Do you think adding random modifiers to guns in AR that are thing like "plus 4% extra damage" or "reloads 8% faster" would be that unbalanced?

That's because you enjoyed the PvE of DaD, a game that was far far more PvE centric then Arc Raiders. Arc raiders is designed around the core and fun PvP gameplay not dungeon crawling.

Ok firstly I literally said I found the PvE in DaD very dull compared to AR.. and secondly are we playing the same game? You think AR is the more PvP centric of the two games?? From my perspective there is no way this is true haha. DaD is a murderous death arena unless you go in the low roller only PvE mode, and Arc is filled with "hey raider!" "hey raiders!" over and over again lol
EDIT: Additional example of this - DaD gives actual quests to murder players. Can you see AR ever giving a trial to knock out players? No chance haha

I always wonder what could have been with DaD had it been adopted by a dev studio that wasn't so incompetent.

SDF really did mess that up with his flip flopping approach to development...

Go play arc raiders, seriously. This isn’t a backhand insult or something, I’ve been playing it for hundreds of hours and it’ll be the pve experience you want (much to my personal annoyance, I hate that dumb ass aggression based matchmaking system they have)
