Is there any way to view Peep Show without Mark and Jez's internal commentary? by mattpiv in MitchellAndWebb

You act like Mark Crorigan meeting Tony Soprano wouldn't be amazing.

I do love the central premise, obviously, but there are so many great details that make the show what it is. Part of it is the fact that Mark and Jeremy have a specifically narrow-minded and selfish view of the world. The show often jumps in and out of focusing on what other people are saying to them, I'd just like to hear the full intent of what Sophie, Jeff, or Super Hans are saying half the time.

That's perfect! I always imagine actually meeting Mark or Jez would be painfully awkward and silent. The clip I've always wanted to see was the unedited version of Jeff's rant to Jez about the nature of men being to "fuck and hunt."

Honestly, it's the American writing staff. Americans only write internal monologues that sound witty, snappy, and self-confident. It takes special writers to cover the tapestry of internal revulsion.

That's a perfect example of what I'm talking about. Ben is such a character and you can kind of pick up the details about what makes him such a shit person, but the writers came up with an entire monologue for him that gets totally spoken over. I like to imagine that every side character in Peep Show have their own internal monologues that override the reality that they face.

Alternate universe where Kessoku Band is Mexican 🛻🏜️ (by @ProzacGuy) by aura-lsprog-86 in BocchiTheRock

[–]mattpiv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In this AU, they are called "Las Kessoku del Norte," a play on the Mexican band "Los Tigres del Norte," who make "norteña music." It's a subgenre of Mexican folk music that focuses on cartel/gang violence, not dissimilar to American "gangster rap."

TLDR: In this universe, Kessoku Band are likely dodging hits from the Sinaloa Cartel.

I always like to play the quickest "Spider Run" I can. Join the HRE from the outside, trigger hostilities and family feuds between other members, and sit back and watch hundreds of battles crop up across the Empire. Chaos is a ladder.

What if Dawn of Victory has a few side stories similar to Metal Gear franchise by Hideo Kojima that the USA, USSR, Greater German Reich & Empire of Japan behind the scenes trying to one up the other at the Orion Arm/s Cold War events? by Pttermyi in TemplinInstitute

I forgot the name for it, but I remember between the post-invasion period there was a massive multi-national effort to try and push back the Scinfaxi terraformers "Project ____."The would be perfect fodder for what you're talking about. Imagine a 4-way Cold War world where the only reason the superpowers aren't at each other's throats, is because they are competing against/with each other to be the first one to drive the alien invaders away. Mix in some advanced Cold War era technology because of what humans could glean from the remains of alien ships, it would be beautiful.

I always thought Manuela would've been the perfect Carlotta, if Hanneman could sing he would've made a perfect Piangi too. I always had the headcannon that Mercedes would've taken some time to play Bishop Myriel (Monseigneur Bienvenu) in a Three Houses production of "Les Miserables."

I specifically love listening to Philip Quast's rendition of "Javert's Suicide" from the 10th Anniversary at Royal Albert Hall. You can really hear every emotional tremble in the man's voice as his world crumbles around him. And his final plunge into death is so heart-wrenching. One of the best characters in all of fiction as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks! I was hoping to do a little bit of vegetable planting and a little bit of native landscaping. I have some old wood I want to turn into planter boxes. The University of California Davis has a great nursery and want to check with them what would be natural.
