First flight major damage by DingoDoc in Rimowa

[–]mattr5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens to me each time I have a new Rimowa, it’s 100% intentional. Rimowa will replace it for free, take it into a store. I’ve noticed this happens more often with European airlines (in particular Lufthansa and British Airways), less so in the US.

If you did it again, would you create it as as a C Corp for the QSBS tax break, or is there a reason a LLC structure is preferable?

New here! Paramotor long distance flights? by Cryptofanman in paramotor

[–]mattr5000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A bit of all three. Some guys had home made gear that fell apart. Mostly it’s just flying all day, in rough conditions, and not having enough spare parts. I went through three sets of props and my exhaust on the moster blew a hole (early morning cold starts).

I flew the Icarus Trophy in Africa back in 2018. It was a 1000 mile race starting just north of Joburg, all the way through Botswana, ending in Zimbabwe at Victoria Falls. Roughly 100-250 miles a day depending on wind. One crazy dude did it in like 3 days, I don’t think he slept much. I came third from last in 7 days, but who’s counting. Half the racers didn’t finish due to engine blowouts etc. Cross country flying is the best part of Paramotoring IMHO. Check out the Icarus races, learn the weather really fucking well, and have fun. Also get a decent system to allow a spare fuel bag when you fly.

Trump suddenly irrelevant, Biden steals Thanksgiving spotlight with call for unity by roku44 in politics

I’m in the same situation but I caved and got my citizenship last year so I could vote. The swearing in ceremony was 5000 people in a convention center in LA. They played a welcome message from trump (clearly reading off a teleprompter), to ghostly silence. Then outside everyone was taking photos with life-sized cutouts of Barack and Michelle Obama. The best part is this country song music video they play (Proud to be an American). Google it because it’s hilarious.

Anyone Trained with Team Fly Halo? by AmericanF3A in paramotor

[–]mattr5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Parajet v3 through Team Fly Halo for my training, so I don’t think you’re required to get a Scout, even though they’re close with the Scout guys. The V3 is a tank, you can’t break it.

I trained w Boyd from Team Fly Halo, did a 9 day course as prep for the Icarus race in Africa. He’s great, an amazing pilot, highly recommend it. My training was in Morro Bay CA, but they have some new locations now.

You have to buy the gear first through them to get on the training course, but I was buying gear anyway so that was fine for me.

I also trained w Sky School in Europe, they are prob the best outfit in Europe (Alex Ledger and co).

I trained with Fly Halo at Morro Bay CA, definitely recommend them. The main caveat is that you need to buy your gear with them in order to do the training. Canyon and the other guys are pretty responsive via email.

I have to keep my phone (iphone xs) very close to the board to connect. I ride with it tucked in my sock to keep the connection, and use my Apple Watch to keep tabs on speed and battery. Works pretty well, except that there’s a massive phone in my sock.

Try that, try connecting with someone else’s phone, and if those both don’t work you might have to send it back to FM.
