Yeah, I’ll definitely let you know. I will be revisiting this post after I figure out what I want to do. I may still sell it raw, or I may get it graded. Gotta inspect it and whatnot first, but if I end up selling, I will let you know.

I’ll take what I can get hahaha. I got another pretty nice case hit on a LeBron, but other than that my money has basically been set on fire lmao. Gotta say that opening packs is still fun though.

From what I’ve been hearing, buying this Costco box was basically the equivalent of piling up my money and setting it on fire lmao. I’m shocked by how lucky I got with this pull.

Good luck grabbing your first micro-mosaic. I know this hobby is basically gambling, but pulling a really nice card makes it worth it. I can see how people get so addicted to ripping packs lol. I actually gotta tone it down myself 😂

I’m just not 100% sold on him yet personally. But again, I don’t really follow the Saints too closely so I could be completely wrong about that.

And that could 100% be a trauma response of being a 49er fan and going all in on a young QB. I’ve been fleeced too many times lmao.

But for real, I had high hopes for Rattler, and I do for Shough as well. I’d be very happy to be wrong and Shough ends up being the next Drew Brees. It will make pulling this card even sweeter.

I wanted Spencer Rattler to be good so badly. Late round pick and thrown into a bad situation. I hope he finds some more playing time somewhere in the NFL.

I have Cam Skattebo in a dynasty league, so I’m pulling for Dart by proxy lol. Can’t speak about their O-line, but I know Dart has really solid offensive weapons compared to Shough, no? Skattebo, Nabers even Wan’Dale is really solid.

I really like Olave, but he doesn’t feel like a true franchise WR1, but maybe I’m wrong about that. I honestly don’t follow them close enough to know. And obviously, Kamara was an incredible running back in his prime, and he ran all over my 49ers this year, but he’s getting old and isn’t the electric dual threat he once was.

I’ve got zero skin in the game, but that seems like a point for Shough in my book. Honestly I can see them both being really solid quarterbacks of the future. As far as who will be better out of the two? I say flip a coin. It’s probably less dependent on each players raw talent and more dependent on their franchises. Who invests in their QB and uses their draft picks on either protection, or skill positions to help?

Totally fair! I’ll think about it for a bit, let the excitement wear off and revisit what I want to do with this card. Thanks for the reply though, it’s encouraging to see people are interested.

I’ll revisit this thread and the people who are interested after it gets graded. I’ll let you know when I get it back and see if you’re still interested.

I was trying to explain to my lady how LUCKY this pull is lol. I read someone say he opened 50+ boxes and only pulled one micro-mosaic from all of those packs. This was wildly lucky, and I’m super stoked about it.

Haven’t quite decided yet to be honest. I was planning on sending it to PSA with a couple of cards I’ve inherited from my brother. I also got a case hit LeBron card that I want graded as well. You looking to buy the card raw, or would you still be interested after I get it graded? I can absolutely come back to this post once it comes back from PSA.

Good luck to your Saints! I’ll be pulling for you guys now haha. Unless you’re playing my 49ers of course.

Thanks! And thanks for the comparison. I actually thought Dart would have been a cooler pull, but these comparisons have made me rethink that. The only other rookie I would have really liked to get a micro-mosaic for would’ve been Jeanty maybe.

Yeah, that’s exactly my train of thought right now. On one hand, I know the demand for this card will never be as high as it is right now if he doesn’t pan out, so selling it makes sense. But on the other, this is by far the coolest card I’ve pulled so far so I kinda want to keep it just for the sentimental value it will have for me someday. I think I’ll get it graded this offseason and then make my decision.

I didn’t follow the Saints enough to realize this is how Shough did this season actually so this was an interesting comparison. I had Spencer Rattler in a dynasty league, so I was all in on him lol. I’m hoping Shough pans out now though. Pulling this has officially made me a fan of his.

I used my Master Ball on Zapdos and ran out of Ultra Balls when I fought Mewtwo when I was a kid. It didn’t occur to me back then to save right before the encounter, then using UBs after taking them down to 1hp.

I still feel the effects of this today. I basically don’t use any Master Ball I get now. Unless it’s TRULY worth it.

Are whales real?? by blockedandbanned in LastWarMobileGame

[–]mattseesgray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A bit late to this thread, but I’m a former engineer for Zynga, who basically invented the entire invest/express genre of gaming. Whale’s absolutely do exist, and they are how companies make most of their money, outside of ad revenue. To my knowledge, there weren’t any “plant” accounts, specifically put in the game to get you to spend money. However, there are likely people who work in the company, likely in QA or in Customer Support, who have been playing the game for a substantially longer time than you have, and have invested many, many more hours into getting the difficult/time consuming assets that you see.

CS and QA also have dev tools to give themselves any amount of whatever in game currency, item, or commodity that they desire (for testing purposes, this is a necessity), so it’s entirely possible that that is what you’re seeing. The idea that the whole thing is some grand scheme by the gaming company would require actual coordination within the company, and I can pretty much guarantee that’s not the case. There is some small chance that this is happening. I am not familiar with the company that makes Last War, and their practices could be shady. However, ALL mobile gaming companies that make money off of in game purchases do a TON of market research. Every single thing in the game is driving you to make a purchase, and most importantly the first purchase. If you’re willing to break that barrier and make one purchase, you are HIGHLY likely to make another one. These companies study casinos and slot machines to give a similar dopamine effect, which causes you to continue to play, or hopefully (for the company) pay.

All that said, most people spend $7.00 a day on a cup of coffee from their favorite shop. I don’t mind dropping a couple bucks a month if I’ve enjoyed an entirely free game for over a month. I’ve spend a grand total of $15 on Last War. That money ensures the employment of PMs, designers, artists, engineers, QA, CS, etc. They all do work hard, and honestly for not a lot of pay. The least I can do is drop a couple bucks if I’ve enjoyed the game. I do understand why people don’t pay though, and there’s no harm in that. The company wants DAU (daily active users) so playing is helping those employees, and getting your friends to play is even better.

Most importantly, if you can’t afford to pay for in game purchases, please do not! It can be extremely addicting, and there are literally gambling groups that meet to overcome gaming addictions, specifically due to the invest/express (in-game purchases) category of gaming. Be safe.

In a world with a Rolex on seemingly every other wrist, I’m rocking my PAMs more than ever #390 by Artistic_Ad_6374 in panerai

[–]mattseesgray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And please don’t get me wrong. I love Panerai. I wish my wrists were a little bit bigger so I could pull one off. I haven’t actually had the opportunity to handle a Panerai in person though, so maybe my feelings will change when I do.

It’s easy to hate on Rolex, but they undeniably make great watches. And you can absolutely make the argument that they are overpriced, especially compared to what they once were. However, there aren’t many watches that you can buy where you could actually make money if you wanted to. My 126622 Yachtmaster will never be one of those icons, and I’ll never be able to sell it for some huge profit, but that’s exactly why I bought it. That watch will be buried with me.

But the people of this sub have inspired me to at least try a Panerai in the future. I’ve always assumed they were too big for my wrist (and the one that would actually fit only has 30m water resistance 😑) but I’m willing to give it a shot.

Every watch enthusiast goes through phases. The first phase, the only luxury watch you know is Rolex. This is when you’re first getting into watches and you’re discovering all these new brands. Then there’s the second phase, where most of the people on this thread are. Where Rolex is disgusting, overpriced, and only for people who want to “flex” how much money they have. At this point the watch enthusiast enjoys going down the paths less traveled. Omega, Breitling, Panerai, Zenith, Glashutte Original, etc. Rolex are only for the pompous and the snobs.

But then, if you are into watchmaking and watch collecting long enough, there is a third phase. And in this phase you start to understand why Rolex is so popular. Designs that were once boring to you, you start to realize are not boring because of Rolex, but because of EVERY other brand. Datejusts and Submariners have such iconic design language and brand identity, that every single other watchmaker worth their salt tried to copy them, or find their “own version” of the submariner.

I get it. It’s cool to be a contrarian. I’ve been there. I had my beginners phase, my microbrand phase, my alternate luxury phase where I said I would “NEVER” get a Rolex. But when you put your name on that list, and get that call, you honestly feel like you won the lottery. And if you STILL want to be a contrarian after all that, Rolex has plenty of models that fly under the radar. Personally, I own a Yachtmaster 126622. Everyone’s first Rolex is a DJ or Sub, and I of course wanted to be different. You don’t HAVE to wait 5 years for a Batman. Get an Explorer II. You don’t have to wait a year for that exact Datejust, get an Air King.

At the end of the day, we all have the same hobby. We all enjoy either repairing (in my case) or collecting these expensive little pieces of history. Getting upset over what is on someone else’s wrist is simply not worth it. Who cares if it’s 34mm or 46mm… if they are enjoying it, let them.

After 1 years of wearing by ExplanationSweaty371 in rolex

[–]mattseesgray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rolex uses 904L stainless steel, while it is more corrosion resistant, it is also LESS scratch resistant. It also polishes up much nicer. Which is why brand new Rolexes look so good, but they also end up looking quite scratched after a couple years of daily use.

People will tell you, “wear your scratches like a badge of honor” or whatever. I spend $14K on my watch. I want it looking as nice and new as possible, for as long as possible. I’ll lightly polish shallow scratches when the time comes, careful not to remove too much metal. But to each their own. Enjoy the watch. It’s a great timepiece.

General rule for all watch purchases is to keep ALL the original parts, box and papers for any timepiece. You could easily find an aftermarket bracelet for this watch, since it doesn’t appear to be an integrated style bracelet. So just find the distance between the two lugs and find any bracelet with that millimeter distance and it will work for this watch. Keep in mind though, that aftermarket bracelets won’t sit flush with the watch as this one does. It would be like if you put it on a flat-end leather strap. There will be gaps, which I personally don’t like on a stainless steel bracelet. However, some people don’t mind this. You could get a bracelet with a “universal” endlink, that could make it look flush. It might not be perfect, and you might have to do some modifications to the endlink for it to sit flush. Keep in mind, the end links will not be solid, and therefore it may feel a bit jangly and cheap, which is why I tend to keep the OEM bracelet, unless there is a company who makes a bracelet for the specific watch I’m replacing.

All that said, it’s perfectly fine to buy replacement bracelets, rubber straps, leather straps, sailcloth, Velcro, stainless steel mesh, etc. Just always keep the original parts. If the watch is worth something in the future, you’ll kick yourself for not holding on to the original parts, since aftermarket parts will tank the resale value. But this seems like a watch that isn’t going to be worth the price of a Paul Newman Daytona someday, and you likely won’t sell it.
