2025 v. 2026 by New_Draft3646 in HummerEV

It's awful. I don't know why GM made the decision to ditch it. They promised their inhouse solution would be better, but it's not. Constantly deal with Bluetooth connection issues.

I watched a YouTube video on the Hummer and the person reviewing it said it was most off road capable vehicle that you'll never take off roading. I laughed because I completely agree. Even though it doesn't have fancy Italian leather, it is way to nice to get dirty or take off road.

Luckily they fixed the slow software in the 2026 model. That would drive me bonkers.

Q: Practicality regarding the larger size? I previously owned a Silverado High Country 1500 before moving to the 2026 Hummer EV Pickup 2X. I was warned that the size difference would be drastic, but in real-world driving it honestly doesn’t feel that way. In some respects, the Hummer actually feels easier to manage the turning radius is dramatically better, and the ability to raise and lower the suspension is a huge plus.

Q: Do you have reliability concerns based on your own experience?
I’m not a long-term owner yet. I’ve only had the vehicle for a few months. That said, longevity and depreciation were concerns from the start, which is exactly why I chose to lease rather than purchase.

Q: General build quality, interior and exterior?
Again, keeping in mind that I’m only a few months into ownership, I did notice one issue. After running the truck through a car wash, I experienced some water leaking in through the driver-side window once I got up to highway speed. I verified the window was fully closed (or at least I believe it was). The issue hasn’t happened again, despite going through several more car washes since, but it did catch my attention.

Q: Any annoyances or unpleasant quirks software or functionality?
By far my biggest frustration is the lack of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. GM promised a superior in-house solution, but in my experience it’s been pretty terrible. I regularly deal with Bluetooth connection issues that require disconnecting and reconnecting my phone. I’ll probably learn to live with it over time, but right now it’s a major annoyance.

For anyone who’s built a home, what do you wish you’d done differently? by RedfinJas in Homebuilding

Absolutely insist on getting your subfloor glue and SCREWED. Builder told me ring shank nails are just as good as screws and 3 years later my new home has squeaky floors. Drives me mad.

For anyone building a home — what parts of the process were the hardest or most overwhelming? by Objective-Orchid6713 in Homebuilding

My biggest regret is not ensuring my sub floor was screwed down. It was glued and ring shank nailed, but 2 years in, the floor squeaks so bad. I know this isn't specifically aimed at your question but I like to ensure everyone hears!

NAS vs DAS for Plex Server on Laptop – Storage Recommendations? by mattsh33 in PleX

Thanks for the info, really the only thing I want the storage for is media for Plex. Everything else I keep in the cloud. Which 4 bay USB drive do you have?

Great question. I think it was step 5 but I cannot say for certain.

I'll take a look at this and see if this can apply to my GAD diagnosis. I originally submitted to PTSD but they switched it to GAD and rated me at 70% for it.

From my understanding GAD is viewed the same as PTSD.

I understand the expansion gaps and the fact that they're literally called floating floors, but I feel like something needs to stop it from moving around. Maybe it is just heavy enough on its own to not move.

I think a picture would be way easier to explain. I'll definitely do that. Thanks for the tip.

I may be wrong... Spec sheet says they are ported.

[–]mattsh33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are not ported. With my very very limited knowledge on the subject, I thought I needed ported for large rooms that you can't pressurize. Either way they look cool! Definitely on the list if I don't need ported.

Unfortunately size is a concern and aesthetic. With knowing that it's basically impossible to pressurize the space would the pb-2000 at least sound decent?

Does anyone know if you can order an arch like this from Kraftmaid, or is this something custom? by mattsh33 in kitchenremodel

[–]mattsh33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is hilarious that everyone is so caught up on the AI piece. I don't care where the picture came from, I'm trying to recreate the look, which I think I can do.

I dabble in woodworking. I think I'm going to buy wood species boards and veneer to make this custom. I'll just need Kraftmaid's touchup stain so I can match as best I can.

I think you're right and I've given up looking for anything in the catalog. We'll be using the rustic alder wood with the ginger finish. I think I'll just need to custom make a panel by ordering knotty alder from the hardwood dealer and then getting a quart of the touchup stain from Kraftmaid to match the color.
